20 19: CONCEALED

It hasn't been an hour that has passed when Elani became impatient. She had thought that this training is becoming a bit off peculiar. In a lot of ways that she could be learning other skills she can use in the future, why meditation? Is there importance in sitting down on a stone and clear the thoughts in her head? And also, why are they not explaining important things to her such as this training and entering the Academy? She heaved a heavy sigh this time in frustration and opened her eyes in defeat.

Rosetta was astonished at the sight of Elani when she opened her eyes. She was sitting while her legs were crossed and her eyes were radiant light. So light that Rosetta thought she could go blind. She covered her eyes with both of her hands and abruptly, Elani started to emit powerful winds.

Elani, you have to stop what you're doing! Rosetta was blown away by the strong wind. She tried to fight the current but to no avail. Elani couldn't even hear her anymore!

Rosetta tried to flew upwards and when she got a better glance at Elani, Elani was already floating from the stone while her eyes still gleamed in the light. What power was concealed in her? She had thought.

Elani's strong winds soon became a violent storm that made the whole sky gloom in darkness and rain and the only light was of her eyes. Rosetta, who couldn't even imagine the immense power, flew away from Elani. She wouldn't want to stay friends with someone who cannot control herself. As soon as Rosetta got away, Malaya went over to the glowing Elani.

When she arrived, Malaya was aghast at the sight.

"Oh for fuck sake!" She cursed and dashed her way to Elani. But she was surprised when she was nearing her. Elani looked at her and powerful winds pushed Malaya away to the trees.

"This goddamn child, I left you for just an hour and you do unimaginable things!" She dusted off her armor and pulled her bow and arrow from her back. "You think you can really scare me off?" She locked her target and pulled the string of her bow and enchanted a conceal magic that she heard enchanted by the guards.

At the target momentum, she let go of her bowstring. Her arrows flew through the trees and glimmer in green light as it reaches for Elani. When Elani saw her arrow, she pointed her finger at the nocking point and the arrow, without reaching its target, burned into ashes.

A loud voice started to speak in the forest--she cannot forget the voice of Mathilda. "Malaya, my dear child. I wonder where did you get your language?"

"You think you can fool me with using her voice? Well, think again." Malaya dashed from tree to tree in a matter of only seconds. She threw multiple arrows at Elani while gliding through the winds like a bird but it always gets burned. She paused for a moment in the tree and thought of a plan to conceal whatever is happening to her student.

Malaya jumped from the branches and swiftly went above Elani and kicked her head so powerful that when she reached the ground, Elani was engulfed inside it as if the ground is holding Elani's body. She didn't see this one coming to even prepare herself from the sudden kick.

Malaya landed on where Elani was engulfed; she checked her student who is now unconscious and kneeled beside her. She put her two fingers in front of her mouth and whispered the enchantment of concealing and pointed it to Elani's forehead.

After concealing Elani, Malaya looked at the sky and notices that the rain and clouds she emitted began to fade.

Hours have passed, Elani began to open her eyes slowly as her head keeps on throbbing. She growled at the pain and was confused about what had happened. The only thing she could remember was she was about to open her eyes because she became impatient but something had control over her, unable to get out of the illusion like she was imprisoned in for the moment.

She searched around her to look for Rosetta but there were no sprites near her. She was astounded when Malaya landed on the ground.

"Good that you're finally awake. You had me wondering for a moment back there."

When did she get back? How many hours was I sleeping? She thought. Malaya threw her the fruits she got while she was away. She leaned over to Elani to check her forehead since it's where she placed the spell. Elani looked at her bewildered.

"I must tell this to Rafael when he comes back."

"What must you tell him?" Elani asked while she picked the fruits in front of her.

"The thing you did earlier. What did actually happened to you?"

"I met with a river sprite her name was Rosetta and she instructed me how to meditate. While I was meditating, I became impatient and wanted to open my eyes but somehow it felt like I was being incarcerated by the unknown spell." She touched her head as the pain continued throbbing. "and when I woke up my head started to throb..."

"Hmm.. incarcerated you say." Malaya looked over to her student and said, "if you don't want to continue with the training today, you may." with a hint of sympathy. She carried Elani on her back and glided through the trees going to her treehouse.

Elani was exhausted even after she woke up earlier. She tried to fight her eyes but it's too heavy for her. She must've used all her energy from that accident although she tried hard to remember what had happened--it should be at the back of her mind but she can't recall anything aside from trying to open her eyes from meditation.

She felt the sharp winds on her skin as Malaya glided through the forest. She doesn't know where she's taking her. Maybe her mother was right when she said that Malaya loves breaking bones for her students to be fit in exams in that academy. What's so good about it? She had thought. If this training is already hard for her, what more of the academy? Shall I ask her the importance of this training?
