CHAPTER 1: The Return

*Cough* blood came out from my mouth, what happened? As I tried to look at my surroundings, I saw dead people.

Arrows, Blades, and soldiers are swimming in the pool of their blood.

"HAHAHHAHAHHA! The information I got was right, you're helpless when it comes to your wife. You have fallen head over heels for that woman, how pathetic!"

Struggling I tried to open my eyes again, and saw a man holding a sword, pointing towards my husband. I tried to move but I couldn't. I don't have the strength to fight back, I feel that anytime now I will die.

"ARGHH! YOU! I will never forget what you did to my family!" My husband shouted I felt the chills coming from my back as I look into his eyes.

"Well, I won't give you a chance! Goodbye!" after that words, he slashed my husband to death

"NO!.. Bastien.." those were the last word that came out of my mouth as I died.

As I woke up, I felt warm water flow from my eyes. Again, it's the nth time that my memories from my past kept coming into my dreams. After that incident, I thought I was dead, but luckily, I was reincarnated. It has been a year, since then, and in this life, I told myself that I will be strong and powerful to take my revenge on the person who killed us and live with my husband peacefully.

We will create a family and have lovely kids! That's why, all this time I have been proving my best to my father, I have won hundreds of wars, and created unions from neighboring other countries.

And today, I have finally achieved my goal.

"Your Highness, Empress Aveline de Lys, the banquet is about to start you need to make your presence," Yseult said, the butler of our family. He has been working for us for decades, he is very sophisticated and strict. Maybe that's the reason why he has been single for life.

As I walk down the aisle of the palace, everyone shows their respect. I can sense their fear and tension. Am I that intimidating? Hmp!

Today's banquet is a late celebration of my crowning as the new ruler of the kingdom. My parents, the previous emperor, and empress will also be present at today's banquet. And I am sure that they are the ones who told Ysuelt to get me.

Everyone in the banquet is having fun. I am glad, I will be a great ruler of this kingdom, I will protect the people and the country at all costs. Now that I have the power, wealth, and authority I will be able to do anything.

I left the banquet hall and headed toward my office and check some paper works for a while, I have been doing my empress duty for about a month, it's tiring but I don't have a choice. After a while, I decided to go to my chamber, and my helper, helped me change my clothes to get ready to bed.

"Alright! Thank you, everyone! You may now rest in your quarters! Good night" I told my helper

"Good night! Your Highness!" they replied and leave my chambers.

I lay down on my bed and stared at the ceiling. To be honest, I have been looking for my husband for quite a while now, but I still have gotten nothing about him! I have contacted every skilled guild in this country to look, for him but all they said it.

"HOW CAN WE FIND HIM IF YOU CANNOT PROVIDE AT LEAST THE PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THAT PERSON YOU'RE LOOKING FOR?!!!" yeah, I may have some memories of my past life, especially my time with my husband, but the worst thing is, I don't remember his face and physical appearance, it's all blurry! T^T

I'm starting to feel hopeless, T^T.

"Your majesty! Please spare my life! I'll promise to do better next time" cried the person who's begging for his life.

"There really won't be next time! I'll leave him to you Bruler!" the man said to the person standing beside him

"Yes, Your Highness!" Bruler said.

"By the way, where is Gael?" Ask the emperor

"Last time he told me that he will attend a banquet in Lysanne, maybe he is still there"

"Lysanne.. *smirk* Alright, I'll leave that thing to you! Tell Gael to meet me once he returned!" said the emperor.

As the lighting strike, the face of the tyrant king became visible, that it will give you chills.
