13 Chapter 13

Clara walked right into the council meeting room and didn't bother with knocking anymore. "Hello, Council. I would like to talk to you guys about something happening in this world that some how hasn't been seen."

"Why do you constantly stirrup trouble Clara? Is it that hard to stay out of it?" Councilwomen Andra was the first to talk and basically snapped right away at Clara.

"So this is how you are treating me? I did want to but it was a corrupt leader so I took over. I was supposed to once I was sixteen but sometimes plans must move too far ahead, " Clara had practiced what she would say in her head since she thought of this insane idea. It needed to work perfectly or it wouldn't work at all.

"You have a group of three people with you Clara. Clearly that isn't a very big group, " Andra was talking but before she could say anymore, Brento put his hand up. Everyone knew that meant to be silent.

"Clara what are you talking about? There isn't a group operating without council knowing of it," Brento was much nicer with his words but Clara saw the telepath struggling.

"Stop trying to get into my link telepath. Sorry I don't know your name. Anyways, " Clara smiled at the telepath woman who stopped struggling and gave up. "It is a group of more than 200 people. They have been operating long before I came here but for obvious reasons I am known as the lost girl for you and the girl of change for this group."

"Yes you are of a different background but that doesn't mean change is going to happen by you, " Brento was being polite and they were clearly in a link together. Clara could sense the link just like the woman could sense hers.

"Well it won't happen from just me but you can't possibly put 200 people in that jail they talk of. The one of shattered minds and broken souls, " Clara shook her head at the thought of the place. "Anyways we want to work with the council. This place is in need of a change. Laws and regulations put before even you were born Brent doesn't work anymore for a growing world."

"And what would you know of this? They seem to be working perfectly fine. No one else questions and you have no proof of these 200 people anyways, " Andra was allowed to speak this time and Clara chuckled a little because she sounded scared to talk. "What's so funny?"

"Ask your telepath. Even if she can't get into my link she can tell how many are connected. I don't have all 200 in one link but my mind can protect the links as long as I have the main one, " Clara smiled at the look of shock on their faces. "You guys know Annabelle is an enhancer. What else did you expect from my enhanced abilities? Did Largfell not tell you how strong my ability is without enhancement in tracing? Links are simple compared to tracing around the world."

"No Largfell never mentioned your full strength to us. He only said it was too strong and a danger to others. Honestly he is right if you can create links so large or at least keep them safe this large, " Brento was smiling just barely though. Something was happening in their link and as much as Clara wanted to see, she couldn't do that unless she disconnected her link.

"Anyways enough about me. My group is willing to work with you to work towards a change in the world that will make everyone happy," Clara was getting more nervous than before and she was certain the Empath was picking up on it. Avery grabbed her other hand and stood next to her. It helped her but not much.

"What would that be? These changes you talk about," Brento asked while he sat down. Clara's guess was their link was overwhelmed with them all talking because the telepath was having trouble too.

"Well first off would be the harsh punishments for a first time offense and someone who is new to this world, " Clara saw the look of doubt in their eyes. A quick flash because she mentioned the new part. "When I was barely two weeks into training and I accidentally hurt Avery, you all decided the necessary action was to suppress my abilities and cause damage to my cells."

"Yes that was a hard to choice to make for some and easier for others. Something had to be done for the incident that happened. A surge doesn't happen by accident Clara," the telepath answered and Clara looked shock at her talking.

"When someone isn't trained to know what not to do, it does happen. Remember everyone else in this room was trained from an early age to control these skills but not me.." Clara looks up and frowns. She hated thinking of her old life. It was terrible but she missed her family. She longed to see them again and hug them. "I wasn't given that chance as my fate was chosen for me by you more so than my parents."

"You were in danger here Clara. Some here aren't even from that council that chose what to do with the threats on you, " Brento lowered his head because he was one of them. He didn't know that she would be put through such problems though.

"Yes I understand that but it was still what you chose to do and you all knew one day it would be time for me to return. Why expect a girl who is fully trained in a world she thinks she is a freak in for hearing thoughts!" Clara raised her voice slightly and startled many by accident. It was an emotional over she never talked about. Being forced to live in silence of hearing all the horrible things people thought about her and what they were going to do to themselves.

"I am sorry that happened to you Clara and we wish to fix what had happened to you. We can only do so much. I am willing to work alongside your group but I can't say that for the rest of the council, " Brento stepped aside and created a division. A few others followed but it was split.

For something like this more than eight have to be on the same side and this was six and six. "What good would it come to work with a group run by a child?"

"It isn't run by me. I plan on having adults run it while I am just the face you all know so well Coucilwoman Andra. I am not grown enough to know much about everything but I do know that there should be a limit to different offense on punishments," Clara had calmed down knowing that she only had to convince two more people.

"What would you know about handling punishments and if they are fair?" Councilwoman Andra was making it somewhat easy for Clara.

"Where I lived there was different ways to punish different crimes and how many times those crimes are committed. Even then I am still an exception to some because I do not know how my abilities work. Mistakes will happen while learning and it's not like a toddler has ever accidentally surged. Even though it wasn't the same strength, I am basically a toddler with my abilities. I do know leadership as I was taught it and how to make things work. You guys teach mostly on abilities and a few academics but not how the council works, " Clara saw the looks on some of the council as a realization. Knowing how the council works help work out the kinks that are being caused now.

"Only those in the council need to understand how the council works, " councilwoman Andra countered. It didn't even make sense to Clara and she chuckled accidentally.

"Sorry I didn't mean to laugh. Not knowing how the council works is not letting people voice that the old ways aren't doing it anymore. Somehow this group figured that out on their own, " Clara sighed and send out a sorry through the channels. It wasn't meant to be offensive, it was just the truth. "You guys have too much power because you leave the people oblivious. All we want is to help people understand the council and work to make this world a better place and to continue to do so in the future. Fixing laws and such will allow that. Don't be so blind to all the problems in your world that your people could help."

"You don't know the problems in this world Clara. You don't even call it your own yet and you want to create all this change?" Andra's voice was slightly raised and that made Clara even more confident.

"See how blind you are to your own issues Councilwoman Andra. You all stand high and proud of the work you do but it is so corrupt in many ways. I can't call this place mine because I refuse to with laws so cruel and not proper, " Clara takes a step forward. "I made one mistake you all decided it was best to cause permanent damage to my cells that were still healing instead of working with me and my skills. I am a child and I know that but I still understand better than you, " she took another step forward. It made it seem like a threat almost but that wasn't the point. It was to show she wasn't scared of what they would do because they have already caused a permanent issue.

"Your cells are permanently damaged?" Brento asked in almost a whisper. He had no idea and from the look of it, many others didn't and she got nine on her side. She had gotten them to agree to work with the group and that was all she wanted.

"Yes even with my strong healing the cells on my hand that had the ring are damaged forever or a very long time at least. Councilwoman Andra already knew that though.." Clara looked away quickly from Andra's glare.

"I had no idea that had happened and you have no proof!" Andra basically shouted which proved Clara even more. Who screams when they are innocent.

"You are a flasher and took a close look at my cells but didn't say anything because the ring was your idea. Your idea cause a lot of harm to me even though it wasn't supposed to Andra. You knew, " Clara stepped back and looked at all the council. "I am glad you have agreed to work with me. I am sorry this got personal but how else would you see the damage you cause with your punishments for the smallest crimes."

"Thank you Clara for bringing this to light. We will be looking forward to working with you and your group to make a better future, " Brento smiled at Clara.

Before she left, she looked back at all the council and smiled. "I hope I can get a break from us meeting under such issues but I finally found a place I was supposed to belong and then told I am too much of a 'freak' for even you to handle. I would hate for it to ever happen to someone else, " and Clara left. She didn't wait for a response and had Avery and Annabelle tailing right behind her. She cut the communication link and sighed before just sitting on the ground.

"Are you okay Clara?" Avery went right next to her and was keeping an eye out for people. Galor wasn't there for once because Clara didn't want him involved. So Avery too it upon himself to be on watch.

"Yes I just didn't expect that to be so stressful. I knew it would somewhat stressful but Andra is ruthless. I guess next step is to set up a few adults who will bring up all the issues the group wants to deal with, " Clara gets up after a second and smiles.

"Ah yes she is the worst of the council. Hardly anyone likes her anymore. They are picked to go into the council but as soon as she joined she has been terrible, " Annabelle explains to Clara. It was obvious that Clara was lacking lots of information.

"I can't believe you straight up called her Andra to her face without saying councilwoman. She didn't even yell about it which is unusual, " Avery adds on.

"So she's that corrupt. Not good for handling things. I will talk to the adults we assign to work with the council and Brento. Better safe then sorry, " Clara begins to walk back to a light leaping area. "Uh Avery could you bring me home?"

"Of course Clara, " he chuckles softly. "All powerful standing up to the council yet the lost girl can't light leap alone." Avery was messing around with.

"Yeah it's a struggle. I can't think of anything I've ever learned up until around two or three months ago," Clara smiles and giggles herself. She takes Avery's hand and Clara went back home.
