1 Chapter 1: The Labyrinth Maze

I dragged my eyes wide open as my preternatural dream mar my sleep. But when my eyes adjusted, I felt I am still on the setting of my nightmare. I am expecting that I would wake up laying in the bed and not in the grassy ground. The first thing I saw as I opened my eyes was a pure white sky. The clouds are forming into something I couldn't figure out, or maybe it wasn't really the cloud. I held my head. And slowly, despite of my dizziness, I tried to sat on the ground.

I wandered my eyes and a narrow lane of a maze is what I see. Where am I?

Where exactly am I?

The wind run so fast until it messes my hair and even my old green maxi cloak dress. I was deeply wondering why I was here in the labyrinth. The only thing I am sure is, I am in a garden maze.

A garden maze that I am not really familiar with.

Another strike of wind passes in my direction, and this time something landed on my forehead. I immediately put my palm there because it was hard, like a rock. I saw a pellucid stone that landed on the ground as it bounced on my forehead. I cursed under my breath before I was able to say…

"Wow," I thought I have finally found something that would make me rich…

I thought it was a diamond, but when I picked it up, it was just a clear stone. It keeps shining on its natural way. It was beautiful, it has the same appearance of a diamond, but it isn't. Out of my mind, I decided to keep it in my pocket. Maybe it's my fate to see this stone and keep it in my possession.

My amusement grew even bigger as I turned around to my back. I just realized that I was standing in a dead end part of the maze. I took a deep breath. My heart started to pound as if I already manifested what would happen to me here.

It seemed the green wall of this labyrinth is getting more narrow as I am trying to estimate its approximate height from the ground. After contemplating, I guessed that it was 10feet tall, and my height is not enough to see the other side.

With my summoned strength, I decided to walk on the path before the dead end part. Another two paths showed on my way, and it gives confusion of what would I take. I tried to listen on the wind, but it whispering nothing to me. It just added the cold I am feeling right now. Unfortunately, I have worn only maxi and cloak, it was not enough to warm me up better.

When I keep deciding what to take, I suddenly heard giggles of a kid not far from here. My head flexed on the left side as the giggles are getting more audible. This is scaring me.

"He-llo?" My voice cracked… "Is anybody here?" I asked the unparticular person behind the other direction—the person that is creating the giggles who's also scaring the hell out of me.

"Hey, if you hear my voice, will you answer me?" I speak again, but I couldn't get any sign of answer.

At this point, the giggles stopped echoing, but another noise came from the same direction. I had a guts that it's either a human or an animal. I silently prayed that it's not a wild animal that could steal my life, or else I will be done.

I encouraged myself to walk towards the scratching noise. "Hello? Please, can you hear me?"

I am about to give up, ready to take the other path before anything happens to me. But in just a split of seconds, a guy that is taller than me suddenly appeared.

I gaped, and bore an eye to him. He looked not so well.

"Are you lost?" He asked me, panting.

He braced his hands on his knees while catching his own breath. "You seemed not okay," I said, stating the obvious state of this guy in front of me. "And yes, I am lost. I don't know where I am."

He smirked. The beads of his sweat dropped as he moved his head a little. "Yeah," I just realized that he was wearing a different clothing. Mine is different than his. His is more old, while mine is I think has a modern design. "I was running for I don't know how long now. Being in the middle of this maze is exhausting."

"Me? I think I was unconscious when I got here, and when I wake up…" My voice is shaking. I also really wanted to know where on Earth are we because this is tiring. "…I was so scared."

He stood straight. His face shows concern look as he heard what I said. "Well, I am glad to find you. We could help each other to find the exit."

I sighed in relief. I was able to put my palm on my chest that moment, "Are you familiar with this place?" I asked to make sure that he could help me.

He nodded then, "Yes, I read some signs that says, 'The Labyrinth of Northern Land'. I am certain that I know this place, but this is just my first time to get in here." He frowned.

"Okay, but have you heard some giggles?" He turned his head at the back, searching if there's also human that is lost like us. "I cannot tell if where it came from because for sure no mother or father would dare to lost their child here, right?"

"I don't know either," he cheaply answered. And I saw him looked at the sky as white as a snow. "There is something wrong here,"

He extends his hand on me right after he examined the sky, "Come on! We have to get out of here," I heard.

He suddenly became serious, while I am utterly confused of what he was saying. Obviously, there is something wrong, but which wrong was he talking about?

It took me almost a minute before I claimed his hand. I felt his gentle grip on my hand, it was securing. Then we began to walk in the direction where he came earlier.

Right now, I trust him.

"By the way, my name is Orion. What is your name?" We were walking together while he still holding my hand. But all of a sudden, I stopped and it made him stopped, too.

My head throb. "What is my name?" I reiterated, asking myself. I don't actually remember anything right now. What is happening to me?

For a second, I closed my eyes, and the voice of a man lingers in my head saying…

Even without petals, you still look like a flower, Mirasol

"You okay?" The guy named Orion, asked. "You tired?"

I just shake my head for him to know that I am just okay, but not okay of barely remembering myself. Thank you to the voice that I heard just now, I had a clue that my name is… "Mirasol… I am Mirasol McCain." I mumbled.
