1 The Crying Child

A pleasant day it was for the couple at the farm, the middle-aged couple was resting after tending to their farm. Watching their son Dakon play with his small wooden horse figure. That was when the strike happened, a bolt of fire similar to a strike of lightning but more rapid and destructive hit the crops at full force.

Magic casters, summoners, warriors and even the distant monsters could feel the weight of the strike and the aura it held as it crashed. People who were not even worthy of being an adventurer wouldn't feel the weight of the aura or sense it having no knowledge of magic in their time. Even low to mid-tier adventurers who mostly take down trolls, goblins and the occasional bandits would not feel this strong powerful aura.

However, the people that did feel it is the people who studied in magic or have high sensitivity allowing them to sense threats and the mere strength of those before them, could feel the absolute power it held. Though it wasn't a threat, they still did warn all nearby towns to investigate with their paid mercenaries at hand. The monsters avoided the area and scuttered away, knowing the danger it could bring and the fear to come.

"Dakon get back inside!" Screamed the mother to their child, terrified for the life of him to get away from the unknown danger.

The father rushed out, it wasn't much but he had his families steel sword by his right hand. He had no practice using it other than scaring away wolfs or people. "Get going, and stay inside the town will send people don't worry." The father as calmly as he could told the terrified boy Dakon who was sitting on the ground in fear.

Taking no time to question he ran back inside with his mother, leaving his father to investigate. Knowing it was foolish he still felt something and could see something within. That was when his mind of thought changed, it wasn't violent and the need to protect his family at all cost. But instead, confusion at the sound of a babies cry.

He rushed at the sound he was familiar with, it sounded just like his son when he was at that age. His mind of thought was too messy, he couldn't think straight. Rushing through the crops until he came to the comet he saw. Seeing this baby, there he laid, crying as this human baby with nothing but ash and rubble around him cried for someone to come.

"Dear god..." The father trembled at the sight of a normal baby, nothing unusual or demonic to the eye. Just a regular just like him. But no matter how normal it looked, he knew it could not be human.

He picked it up, and the cries slowed down as he brought it back inside. The mother and child equally confused at the sight of the father bringing back a child from the wreckage. wrapping its body in a towel as they were speechless to a child being there.

"Was there anything else?" Asked the mother, who sat with the baby in her arms and held it to calm him down.

The father shook his head, sitting down at the table. Dakon looked over at the child, not afraid anymore. The family looked back outside, at the wreckage then to the child trying to figure how he survived and got here. Though their mind of thoughts was brought to a halt as they heard the noises of horses approaching at a fast pace.

Leaving the baby to the mother, the father once more left the house to open the gates to the farm for the adventurers. There stood the fourth strongest magic caster in the land of Perenad, Razoul. The father was surprised to see them bring such emergency, letting them in and pointing the way to the crash site. The magic caster group of 3 began tending to the field.

Chants of magical power being heard as their hands fired calm streams of water into the dying flames of the crops. Not damaging them anymore and then their chants turned deeper as they stomped the ground fourth and put their hands to the ground feeling it as the shattered area repaired itself with the rubble and mended itself perfectly.

This being a small feat for magic casters but still tiring as they were beginners, the father was still impressed and thanked them dearly as he lowered his head to Razoul and held his hand in a form of prayer to him.

"I cannot thank you enough for getting here so soon to our aid, you have our gratitude." The Father would say to Razoul.

Razoul chuckled and shook his head and lowered the father's hands. "Please, think nothing of it, sir. It is our job to protect everyone after all. This being a high priority mission I have to admit, we sensed some dangerous energy from this crash site. Did you happen to see any monster escape or hide nearby?" Razoul questioned the man, sure of a being brought here by that comet and was sure the man had seen something by reading his emotions clearly.

The father looked to his wife, she listened in on the conversation as he opened his lips the young boy Dakon interrupted his father. "He ran into the forest Sir, you should have seen the size of him!" The boy shouted as he ran in front of his father raising his arms up as if saying how big the monster was.

The father eyes shot down to his child as he heard him speak the lie, but before he could correct his child before they got in trouble. Razoul bowed his head to them and grinned at the mention of a large monster nearby. Clearly, this man was bloodthirsty at first sight, they would call these adventurers thrill seekers. Listening to no one until the noise of danger and a fight was to be heard.

"You have our thanks, you can go on with your day now peasants." Razoul said as he raised his head, laughing to himself as he shook his head calling for his men to follow him with the wave of his hand. They got onto their horses and rode off into the forest, the forest was known to be filled with beasts and powerful ones at that. But they stayed inside as it was their domain.

The child once more interrupted his father before he could talk and pointed to his mother. "Mom said it reminds her of James so I was selfish and thought maybe we could keep him, I'm sorry..." The boy explained himself to his father and lowered his head in shame as he knew his selfish act was to be punished.

James was their second born son, he was stolen by bandits from the town as they were wanted for treason. They stole James and used him as a hostage so the guards wouldn't follow. Stolen from his mother's arms and never to be seen again after the incident. Presumed dead and left an emotional scar on the family ever since.

The father ruffled his child's hair and shook his head. "This will be our secret then, promise?" The father replied as he got on his knee as head height to his son. The son smiling with glee and hugged his father. The mother watching with a calm smile as she looked back to the baby in her arms and kissed his forehead. The family back together inside and gathered around the calm sleeping baby.

"I can't believe he's asleep, after what he was just going through I wouldn't sleep for some time." Dakon would say, him and his mother laughing together after.

"Let's name him, Ziro." The mother would add, the family agreed together in nods and smiles. As they welcomed their new family member Ziro.
