1 Volume 01: New Beginnings

I feel a soft breeze upon my face that wakes me from my light slumber. It takes me a few seconds to look around and realize something is wrong. No, not something, almost everything. I can see the sun above and the the orchard I slept upon but everything else is nothing. There is an impenetrable darkness around surrounding me, realizing that I can't just stand there forever, I take a step forward into the darkness and watch as my orchard fades into the black.

After a few minutes of walking in this darkness I see a sliver of light and race towards it hoping I might recognize something. As I approached the light space began to get smaller and I was forced to turn sideways to fit and shuffled forwards to the light. As I approached I began to realize something was wrong; there were smells and sights that I couldn't even begin to describe clouded my vision. I took a single step into the light and suddenly the dark was gone and I was standing in what seemed like a road. Looking back all I saw was an alleyway between two brick buildings. I stood there in awe taking in the landscape; buildings that reached the sky, metal carriages zooming past and people wearing peculiar clothing. I begin to think that maybe this is not the world I once knew and quickly assess my surrounds and realize that I need to figure out how to act in this world so that I don't stand out too much. I begin asking every passerby I can where the nearest guild hall is.
