14 Chapter 14: Uncle's Opinion

"Uncle! is there anything I need to know before starting to sell things in the market?"

"Yeah, it's good that you remind me about it. If you plan to sell things you are required to register to either the city hall or to the Merchant Guild."

"What is the difference between a City Hall and Merchant's Guild? are they different entity?"

"First of all, the Merchant Guild is a neutral faction throughout the continent. It is better to make connection with them because they have a lot of members and the business is not limited to a city or even a kingdom. They only have a higher requirement before you can officially become a member Unlike the City Hall that only required you to share a certain portion of your profit in form of tax. It was also easier to get a permit for doing business in the city from the city hall but you are only limited within the city. Exporting your product or goods must first be approve by the City Hall adding a tariff. The Merchant Guild Also had this portion share, but it more convenient for exports and import so I suggest when your business grow enough, transfer to the Merchant's Guild but for now, you must first get a permit for doing the business in City Hall. It is also for your own security, as the guard roam and arrested those who don't have permit."

"Do you know some craftsman? I was planning to mass produce this product." showing the hand fan to Mr. Rock.

Mr. Rock find it interesting as he never seen anything like that before. he holds the hand fan and press the button in the side. It was less laborious than using the manual fan. It requires some work but acceptable as the wind it produce is stronger than the manual fan in same strength used.

"It was really suitable in this season, maybe you can have your sale as soon as you have a stall or place to sell to." Said by Mr. Rock as he was amaze on how the hand fan works. In his mind it was a revolutionary invention as it looks like a wind mill but a smaller version. He doesn't know anything like this in the stall around the city or even the whole continent.

"How much do you think this will worth?" Ask by Joseph as he was not sure how much price he will tag with this produce. He was not familiar enough to the way of transaction in this world so he can only base on the production cost in doing the price tag. It was a good idea to get the opinion of the customer or those who are willing to buy? Analyzing the statistics gathered then study if you can have profit based on the conclusion.

"It can easily fetch 10 silver coins as it was the lowest, I can give but with the proper market you can have as nearly as 30 silver coin." Still amaze by the fan as he played it around. "You can decide if you want it to be a luxury or for the common but you can earn more if you decide for the first option." He then looks in Joseph eyes while waiting for answer.

"Even if I want it to be a luxury sooner or later some people will copy my product and sell their own, as there was no patent here and the luxury market is so small, it's better to sell it to the mass than limit it to the rich." Replied by Joseph

"Patent? What is that? Never heard something like that before." The word picked Mr. Rock attention.

"It was a license issued by the higher ups stating that this kind of product can only be made by the one who issued the patent or the one he allows to." Explained by Joseph in a way Mr. Rock can understand.

"There's nothing like that in this city, but you can check later in the merchant's guild if they have something like that." Suggested by Mr. Rock as he finds it convenient if the hand fan created by joseph has that king of security.

"Thank you, uncle, I'll try to walk around and ask for the opinion of others. It might be a good idea to decide for the price after it." then he walks towards the door.

"Remember to do it in moderation." reminded by Mr. Rock

"Don't worry uncle." he replied the leave the premise.

'Now, where do I start?'
