1 CHAPTER 1

Let's face it. Life sucks.

You try your best for it to turn out one way, just for it to look you in the face and laugh. Loudly.

My momma used to tell me " Nothing is as it seems. Black can appear white when the light is blinding but white looses all luster at the faintest sign of darkness. Don't let the darkness destroy who you are"

And I tried. Believe me I tried. Like he would always tell me, I'm weak. I made the most out of what I got, I'm just not the same anymore. And that's okay, I just gotta survive.

I get brought out of my thought when I hear a banging on the bathroom door coming from my best friend.

Tez (Serpent Prez) - Sweetheart, you good?

Annabelle - Yeah I'm good Tez. I'm coming out now.

Tez is the prez of an MC called the Serpents. To everyone else he's a hard ass who takes no shit, but to me? To me he's a teddy bear who saved my life and hasn't let me fallen since.

I opened the door and there he is. With a smile on his face.

Annabelle - Why are you smiling like that?

Tez - I'm not smiling like anything.

Annabelle - Mhm. And I'm not from Mars. Now why are you smiling like that?

Tez - Will you work the bar tonight?

Annabelle - Fine but if anyone gets out of the line don't forget I know how to fight.

He salutes me then throws his arm over my shoulder.

Tez - Yes ma'am.

So I should probably tell you what's going on. I work at a bar called "THE BAR" that Tez owns. It's stupid I know but he came up with it when he was 18. This is where all the bikers hangout at. I'm the quite one. Everyone's pretty much regulars so I don't even have to speak to them. I know what they want. All they have to do is raise their fingers and it's refill time. Everyone knows my story here, so everyone's protective. They'll step in unless I handle it myself.

He walks me to the bar next to my co-worker Lily, and he goes back to his table. I look over and see him and what I like to call his "inner circle" and know exactly what they get.

Lily - Hey Anna, Tez asked you to do bar tonight.

Annabelle - Yuuuppp. It'll be fine. I shouldn't have any troubles tonight though.

Lily - Alrighty, I'll let you do your thing girl!

Everyone knows I don't like to be bothered. I've gotten over my fear of men, especially bigger men, but I stopped being a people person and I don't talk much unless needed.

I load up them each beer and two shots and take it over.

Tez - Thanks sweetheart.

I nod my head, pat his shoulder and walk back to the bar to continue working. Through out the night I haven't really spoken to anyone besides Tez and Lily.

I always get lost in my own head and every time he always haunted my memories. Everything he did to me, and how I let it happen. I always have to remind myself that I'm no longer that person, and I survived. I remind myself everyday that I will never let it happen again. I will never fall in love again.

I get interrupted out of my thought again when a new customer sits down at the bar calling out to me.

Drunk Guy - Hey, sexy little thing, I need some shots please.

Annabelle - Any particular kind?

Drunk Guy - Vodka.

Hmmm. You can always tell what kind of person they are by their drink choice.

Annabelle - How many?

Drunk Guy - Three for now baby.

Eww. I literally shiver in disgust. But I smile and our him three shots.

Annabelle - Here you are.

I give him his total, and see that I am getting flagged down by a regular.

Annabelle - If you would excuse me for a moment.

I grab two more beers and move past him to get towards a table and he stopped me by grabbing my waist.

Drunk Guy - Why don't we have some baby? I can show you a good time.

I highly doubt that man.

Annabelle - Now thanks. Now I'm going to ask you nicely to get your hands off of me.

Drunk guy - No can do sexy. I wanna have some fun, and I want to have some fun with you.

Annabelle - You should really listen to me.

All of a sudden I hear chairs scoot out and boots getting closer to me. The music stops and I hear my best friends voice from behind me.

Tez - If I was you, I had take my hands off the little lady. Now.

Drunk Guy - I saw her first.

I don't think this guy knows who Tez is. Looks like he is here on business. Tez went to step forward but I put up my hand to stop him and hand him my tray of beer and pointed to which table to bring it to. He nods, drop off the beer and then comes back.

Lily - Uh ohh...you should have listened to A when she told you so.

After everything that has happened to me, I don't like using violence first as an option. But I ALWAYS ask nicely first and if you don't respect it then I need to show you instead of telling you. This is a man's world and they think they can walk right over you and control you. I'm proving them wrong.

Drunk Guy - *smirks* Or what?

I grabbed one hand off my waist twisting it make him let go completely. Then I grabbed his hair and smashed his face on the counter top of the bar. I pull him up to my face look into his eyes.

Annabelle - The nest time you touch me, or any female without their consent. I will cut your hands off so you can never touch anything ever again. Do I make myself clear?

Drunk Guy - Fuck you bitch!!

If shit like this happens then I'll just let Tez deal with it. I nod towards the drunk guy and drags him out back to do his thing. I turn back to everyone.

Annabelle - SHOW'S OVER!! TURN THE MUSIC BACK ON.

Everyone cheers and hollers and gets back to what they're doing. The rest of the night I didn't speak and nothing else happened. Well I'll never see that guy again.

I just can't wait to go home.
