4 Marshmallows

Children crying, dry coughs, and squeaky chairs filled the economy class. The noise that was inside the airplane was disturbing, especially for Amelia's throbbing head.

Amelia rubbed her temples gently, massaging her pressure points against the cabin wall. It barely relieved her pain from the action, and soon her fingers started to cramp.

She wished she could be in first-class right now. The peaceful silence, the comfortable seats, and the hot towels! She loved the hot towels the airplane provided.

However, this ticket was the only one left on the earliest flight back. Therefore, she had to make do with the awful "perks" that were provided.

Amelia sighed and turned her head to look through the tiny window. She saw the endless, white clouds sprawled beside her. "It looks like marshmallows" Amelia smiled sadly. She extended her hand towards the glass in front of her.

The clouds slowly begin to blur, as the memories of her childhood laid before her eyes. She was in the backyard of her family's home.

A small flame burned in the darkest night, and the scent of oak wood was prancing in the air. The trees were rustling with the calm wind, and her delightful giggle rang.

"Oh my god! These look so good Kota!" little Amelia squealed happily. Her legs dangled off the wooden stool, while her brown eyes followed the golden squares that were roasting on the open fire.

"I know," Kota replied with a smirk on his face. "I can do lots of things."

Amelia rolled her eyes at her brother's statement. Kota was getting more arrogant ever since girls started following him around!

However, she never really understood why, though. He never cleans his room, he eats like a pig, and he stinks. Those qualities would make any reasonable girl run away from him. She preferred an organized, humble, and clean man... like his best friend.

His best friend is everything she wished for in a prince charming. His tall nose, his lean figure, and his eyes! His sharp, blue eyes that could put any girl in a trance.

Amelia sighed loudly as she continued to picture Kota's best friend. Oh, how she wishes to be his girlfriend!

Kota looked over to see Amelia in a trance. Her eyes were glimmering, and her cheeks were bright red. "What is she thinking about?" Kota wondered.

He waved his large hands over her face to get her attention, but she didn't move. Kota poked the side of her stomach, but she didn't react. Thus Kota decided to ruffle her neatly combed hair, knowing that she would wake up from her daydream.

"Hey!" Amelia glared at her older brother. She puffed her full cheeks and pouted her pink lips in anger. She hated when Kota messed with her hair. Every time he did, horrid tangles would form!

"I hate it when you do that," she huffed. Amelia then brushed through her raven hair with her fingers feeling the tiny clumps that were formed from her brother.

Her older brother's clear and resounding laugh started to fill the crisp air, while his hands fell beside his body. Although she was upset by his actions, he could not help himself from laughing. She looked like a feisty chipmunk!

Her glare became, even more, menacing the louder Kota chuckled. "Alright. Alright. I'll stop" Kota wiped the tears out of his eyes.

"Do you want to try roasting them?" Kota attempted to ease his little sister's anger. Kota extended the delicate tree branch that was covered in the soft bites towards Amelia. The waft of pure sugar floated in the air, enticing his sister.

"If I have too" Amelia grabbed the stick out of Kota's hands.

Slowly, like the white puffs turned charred, her anger disintegrated as the evening turned bliss.

However, this was a bittersweet memory.
