2 Mary´s Case 1

The determined detective Daft was approaching that multitude of petrified people, the detective was at the end of that crowd, but no policeman gave notice of his arrival, Daft tried to alert them of his arrival, in a firm voice he said.

"Wake up! ... make way for me to see the situation!"

The officers seemed deaf to the voice of Daft, the detective due of his stature could not see between the great wall of people, little by little, he pushed through, pushing each officer with his arms and body, these being touched by the detective, they would finally cease to be petrified, realizing that he had arrived, however, none was still speaking, the detective continued to make his way until he finally crossed the last barrier of people only to find himself in despair and horror.

"Th... this ... is ..."

Daft could barely speak, his astonishment was similar to the other policemen, Mary´s apartment was messed up, everything was upside down inside the apartment, the furniture, chairs, armchairs, everything that adorned the apartment was covered in blood, the smell was unbearable, and on one of the walls near the balcony from which Mary had fallen, it was written on the wall.

You are quite silly.

As you go up in your dreams.

I will cut your wings

The detective was stunned watching the scene before he could react, he turned to see the police in the same state as him, sweating cold, now he understood them, but they had to move, they had to solve the case, so he armed himself with courage and speak firmly.

"What are you doing standing there!? ... there is work to be done! ... move!"

The detective shouted at the men, these still affected began to mobilize, knowing what they had to do from the beginning, began to protect the area and inspect it. Something disturbed the detective more than anything, the smell of the apartment was unbearable, as if there was a corpse inside, but Mary was laying in the street, although there was blood scattered throughout the place, there was no type of visor or meat in the place that was seen with the naked eye, just one possibility cross the detective's mind.

"Another body ... but ... where?"

The detective, still looking scared and in a hurry, moved around the apartment looking for the origin of the smell, guiding himself with his nose, he was inspecting every corner, that place was not too big, being that it only had one room, and outside would be the kitchen and living room, while inspecting, the detective could see the policeman marking tracks, from the damage marks on the walls where some struggle could happen, the wall with that strange poem, everything that would mean something to catch to the culprit.

Little by little, the detective was guided to a door, his nose told him that behind that door was what he thinks was another corpse, carefully the detective began to open the door little by little prepared for the worst until he could see clearly what was inside. The door was a type of closet that most people would use to store the cleaning material of their home. When the door was opened completely the detective was surprised at the same time as he felt horror, to his surprise there was no human corpse, but of several animals that made a pile of meat, the nauseous detective looked away a bit, processing what he was seeing, thinking how it was possible that the pile of animals, different questions were around the head of the detective, how was there such an atrocity inside ?, how nobody had heard anything ?, the animals must have made a lot of noise when they were slaughtering, however, the old detective knew that no animals were there, he had heard the sounds that came from the apartment, and he was sure that no animal were screaming, seeing them a little closer, he realizes what type of animal´s were there, pigs and pigeons, making him doubt even more about not having heard no shriek from them.

After such a discovery, the detective saw that the others had already been there along with him and that pile of animals, so he turned away and the policemen with disgust began to mark the area and search for a clue. The determined old Daft began to look for a nexus that he could use to clarify his suspicions and reach a conclusion, he began to search little by little, from books to the candlesticks that were near the possible area where the victim fought his murderer, however, none of these gave the detective anything, not even some of the photos that were lying with their frames broken for having fallen in the fight stained with a little of blood, nothing had enough sentimental connection with someone to give a vision of the past. The detective put all his hopes on Raisel, who was investigating in the lower part, searching near Mary´s corpse for an object that would serve as a nexus, which as an art of magic was who was arriving at the apartment at that time, the old detective began to approach to his student as he entered.

"I ... I'm glad you came Raisel ..."

Said the old detective between sighs, Raisel who was panting a little to climb the stairs quickly, even neglecting the state of the apartment, begins to recover a little air to talk to his teacher.

"No ... no worries ... come on ... we have an..."

Before finishing his sentence, the young detective gives notice of the blood and the uproar inside the apartment, he was petrified, with his mouth open and full of horror, in his life he had seen such, his mentor with concern began to speak to him firmly.

"Raisel ... you can't lose your self now ... man up!"

The detective claimed, but the boy was still shocked, it was not a surprise, at the age of eighteen, seeing such an atrocious act would leave him marked.

"Mmm ... Mr. Daft ... I ... I can´t ..."

The young man said between stutters while trembling with fear, Detective Daft at that moment grabs Raisel tightly by the shoulders.

"Come on ... if we don't get to work ... this could happen again ... focus Raisel"

The young detective gradually began to calm down and come to his senses, breathing deeply and slowly began to regain his composure, until he could communicate with his mentor again.

"Yes ... yes ... you're right detective ... I ... I apologize for losing my... my cool there"

Said the young man ducking his head, more calm, but his face of terror still did not fade from his face, Daft, on the other hand, knew that his young apprentice could have some object to use as a nexus, but after such a reaction, the detective worried and decided that it was not the time, he preferred to go check something else, and then remember that writing on the wall.

You are quite silly.

As you go up in your dreams.

I will cut your wings

"Raisel ... I've already reviewed everything here ... but that writing ... seems a bit curious ... don't you think?"

The detective said as he approached the poem written on the wall, Reisel was slowly following his mentor by his back to also review the writing, the young detective read it in his mind to tell his mentor.

"It's ... it's a haiku ... as a child my father made me write several of these ..."

The detective said reading the poem again, Daft, on the other hand, looked at him a little intrigued and clueless.

"Jai… what? ... what is that?"

Asked the detective with curiosity, perhaps it is valuable information.

"It is ... a type of poem ... comes from the east ... it is composed of three sentences, the first contains five syllables, the second contains seven, and the third has five ..."

The young detective said with a half-broken voice but with enough peace of mind to think his prayers, Detective Daft then begins to make assumptions.

"Could it be ... that the murderer is a foreigner?"

The detective said, somehow it fit and both knew it, due to the background of the city, it could be that it was a foreigner who was bringing misfortune to Ember City.

"Maybe ... however ... with a haiku I cannot affirm it ... any scholar or someone with enough curiosity could know how to do it ... maybe he wrote it without knowing it was a haiku at all..."

The young man replied, so the old man let out a great sigh while looking at the poem.

"If it's a poem then ... it has a meaning ... doesn't it?"

The detective said as he turned every word inside that poem in his head, Reisel began to do the same, both tried to tie some loose end that could give them the words of that poem.

"Have something…"

The elder said to his apprentice, after all he was the one who knew how to write these things.

"Mmm ... the only thing the poem has related to the case it´s the way Mary died ... don't you think?"

The detective said, immediately for the elder was clear as water, the poem said how to cut the wings of a person, dropping it, just as it happened to Mary.

"Sure ... Mary fell from her balcony ... her wings were cut ..."

The elder said as he moved away from the wall with the written poem, meanwhile, Raisel wrote down that poem in his notebook to keep his record of it, when he finished, he closed his notebook and decided to leave the apartment.

"I´ll wait for you down there ... I can't stand ..."

Before finishing, Daft was already walking next to his apprentice towards the door while grabbing him by the shoulder walking next to him.

"Yes ... let's go ... there's nothing left to review ... let's go back and check the evidence..."

Said that old man in a calm voice, Raisel just nodded as they both left the apartment, went down the stairs and headed to the black car they had arrived in, they had obtained what they could, it was time to review all the clues.
