Training

Skylars POV

The next morning I woke up warm, comfortable, and generally in a good mood.  That is until I sniffed the pillow case my head was on and Derek's scent riled my body awake. I'd nearly forgotten about finding a mate. I slowly sat up and rubbed my eyes, taking in the room for the second time. When my eyes met the empty chair I frowned slight, he was no longer there. I slowly shifted out from under the warm duvet and stood up, my eyes scanning the wooden floors until they fell on my measily bag. I quickly walked towards it and opened it up, taking out a pair of slim jeans and a black V-neck tee shirt. I shuffled into the bathroom and changed quickly, knowing that Derek wouldn't mind. When I was done changing I looked at myself through the mirror.

I frowned slightly in thought. Everything seemed so absurd. So abrupt. So Mind-boggling and yet, I wanted to just accept it. It almost scared me. Through this thought I eventually noticed a migraine coming on. The pressure was immense right by my temples. I sighed softly and walked out of the bathroom. I hadn't noticed Derek until he showed up in my peripheral. I jumped slightly and put my hand against my racing chest, breathing heavy. "Shit, I didn't think you were in here, and I didn't hear you come in.... " I cursed at him slightly and Derek chuckled softly, putting down a tray of breakfast foods that I had just noticed, the smell of strawberries, waffles, and sausage wafting through the air.

"Come eat." Derek offered up the seat next to him with a soft pat. I bit my bottom lip and hesitated before walking towards derek and sitting down next to him, eyeing the food with desire. When Derek gently pushed the tray towards me, my right hand jerked out before I'd registered it, grabbing a strawberry and pressing it to my lips, devouring it quickly.

It didn't take long before most of the food was gone and my stomach was comfortably full. That was when I realized Derek had been watching me the whole time. I felt heat rush to my ears and my heart pitter patter a little, making my headache worsen some. "U-uhm... Do you have headache meds?"

Derek raised an eyebrow at me and shifted to face me. "Depends. What kind of headache is it? Does it feel like a pounding headache or steady pressure?" I didnt understand why it mattered but it was definitely an easy question. "Steady, gradually increasing too." Derek just smiled and shook his head, slowly grabbing my hand.

"Then no, you cannot have meds. It's your inner wolf babe, he's trying to come out. In fact we should go to the woods and start working on your connection." He seemed so excited saying it. He was already pulling me towards the door with a goofy grin on his face. "I know the perfect spot!"

+++++

By the time we'd gotten close to his 'spot' he was practically bouncing with excitement, his eyes glowing a beautiful green as his wolf pushed through the surface. He paused in front of a cave and grabbed my hand with a soft squeeze before pulling me inside. It looked like it may have been an old volcano that he made home. The opening up top splayed sunlight through the greyscale cave. It had somehow been able to support life, little blue and Pink flowers growing in the small grassy areas. It had a makeshift bed to the left and a stone bench directly under the sunlight. It was quite beautiful, a serene place to say the very minimum. "It's the place I come when I need air, or room or even just to calm down. When I need to think. You're the only other one who's been invited in. My beta is the only other person who knows about it."

My eyes widened slightly at the sentiment of bringing me here and a smile crossed my lips.

"Okay kitten, training time."
