Introductions

I panicked slightly and pulled my head back a few inches, Derek's eyes immediately opening at the rejection, pain evident in his confused look. I opened my mouth to speak but no noises came out. "Kitten? Did I say something that turned you off?"

I slowly shook my head, finding my voice. "Derek.... I.. It's way too early for this. I just.. I've only ever had my father, I've never had another relationship and oyrs wasn't the healthiest father son relationship and I just don't know how to respond and I get panicked cause I'm not used to it and it makes me uncomfortable. I barely know you... " I rushed to get the words out and watched as realization struck Derek. He laughed pitifully and nodded, grabbing my hand and beginning to gently rub the back of my palm with his thumb.

"I'm sorry, I forgot, I just assumed you would be comfortable with this and I realize that was stupid, I'll take into consideration this from now, I promise. In the mean time, let's get to know each other."

Derek's POV

It hurt a little when he pulled away but after he explained neither my wolf nor I could be upset. I so desperately wanted to kiss him but he was right, I hadn't even thought about how he'd feel. He grew up differently and definitely had it rough, he didn't know what love felt like or what was good versus malicious, and I had to respect that. I had to teach him.

I smiled softly and gently grabbed his hands, rubbing my thumb on the back of his hand soothingly. "I'm sorry, I forgot, I just assumed you would be comfortable with this and I realize that was stupid, I'll take into consideration this from now, I promise. In the mean time, let's get to know each other." I offered softly and watched him nod, smiling hesitantly. God he was so gorgeous. So perfect. So right fo-

'Sir? Your father wants to see you'

I unintentionally let out a soft growl at my beta mind linking me. He would have to ruin the moment. I sighed loudly and looked into Skylars baby blue eyes. "I'd like to introduce you to a few people, this way when I can't sit with you you know who you can call on I'd you need something okay?" He visibly swallowed before nodding. "Trust me, they're good people." He nodded again and I stood up, releasing his hand as I stood up and mind linked my higher ups.

'My father will wait. I need Jason, Tyler and Gerald in my quarters within five minutes.'

I released the mind link once it was said and nodded, the three I trusted the most. Immediately I felt someone trying to speak with me.

'Alpha, Gerald went out with the border patrol.'

I sighed and nodded slightly, not that they knew. I decided to mind link Gerald directly who immediately opened the link. 'Something the matter alpha?'

I chuckled slightly before replying.

'No Gerald, when you're done with the pack pratrol come to my quarters. I have someone you need to meet.'

'Yes sir.'

With that I turned towards my mate who was just eyeing me the whole time, seemingly lost in thought. "Kitten, what are you thinking about?" His big eyes shot to my green ones and I smirked at the light blush that caressed his cheekbones.

"N-nothing." He mumbled and sat up, running a hand through his angelic white hair.

"Bullshit babe." I retorted to see his eyes shoot towards me, his lip being abused by his teeth. Which riled up my wolf.

"I... I just really like your laugh... " my smirk faded into a genuine smile and I knelt by the arm of the chair he was sitting in. "Kitten, that makes me beyond happy. You don't have to be embarrassed to admit these things. I can understand not being outspoken, but just know, I have those thoughts too. Like I absolutely love the little freck-"

I was interrupted with a clearing of someones throat. I closed my mouth much to my mates dismay and turned to face the two bulky men at my door. I stood up and offered my hand to Skylar who slowly took it and stood up, my shirt sliding to show his collar bone but no more. I smiled at him before walked towards the door, keeping at least a yard and a half away from the men. The both nodded towards me but didn't spare Skylar a glance, something they were taught well.

"Jason, Tyler, this beauty is my mate. Unofficial until further notice which mean keep your lip shut tighter than a young Christian girl practicing abstinence." Neither of them even cracked a smile at my semi-serious joke, instead replied in unison. "Yes alpha."

Instead of rolling my eyes like normal I looked to my mate who had a light Pink dusting his cheeks, from what assumed was nerves. "Skylar, this is Jason. Jason is my beta which is second in command until you become luni. He has a stick up the butt personality but very loyal and should you need anything he will be at your beck and call, after me." Skylar looked up at me and let a smile grace my eyes as I made fun of Jason. He let go of my hand and reached out to Jason, offering a hand shake. Jason finally made eye contact with my mate and smiled swiftly before shaking my mate's hand. "It's an honor to be one of the firsts to meet you"

Skylar stiffened at the word honor and Jason caught this, quickly changing his wording. "Sorry, I meant a pleasure. It's a pleasure to meet you."

I gently placed my hand on skylars back to soothe him. As he relaxed at the rewording. He probably didn't know what a luni or Luna was. That was for a later conversation though.

When skylar stepped back to my side I then looked at Tyler who was already watching my mate with wonder. I cleared my throat before speaking. "And this is Tyler,  Jason's younger cousin. He is normally loud but is training to be a warrior. So he's supposed to be quiet. Tyler, this is my mate. Which means if you touch him without his permission even if it's a pat on the shoulder, you'll be demoted." I joked towards him but could tell that Roawn wasn't joking as he finished off the sentence. I wouldn't actually demote him but it would surely be fun to tease him. His blueish eyes widened and he nodded with determination. He quickly put his hand out, one behind his back as he waited for skylar to take it. Skylar hesitated, looking up at me. It may not have been the smartest to say something about tyler touching him because it seemed to make skylar uneasy. I reached out and gently tapped Tyler's hand down this way skylar wouldn't feel the need to shake it. "Anyway, both of you, when I have meetings I expect both of you be available to him unless you're with me."

The both nodded, tyler still looking at my mate and Jason relaxed but resuming the respectful stance he was taught during training to be beta. He really was a good person and I chose him to be beta, I just had no idea he'd get so serious so quickly with it.

"Aren't you a feline?" Tyler suddenly sputtered towards Skylar. Skylar striffenes for the second time before slowly nodding, my eyes beginning to zone in on Tyler's throat. I could rip his trachea out...

"Awesome, I've never actually met one, but then again we're supposed to stay away from felines. Are you just like a house cat or?"

I looked at Skylar when he suddenly chuckled. My eyebrows raised as he shook his head, responding with an almost offended tone. "Gosh, do I look that meek? I'm a lion!" My lips tightened into a smile at his exclamation. He was my lion. My kitten. Both my beta and his cousin shared a glance before looking at me, suddenly nervous. I couldn't help but laugh and shake my head.

"You are both dismissed." My alpha tone came out and they quickly walked away, causing skylar to look up at me, a little bit of confusion playing his features.

"Did I say something?" I chuckled at his obliviousness and shook my head, "No kitten, nothing."
