Beggining

Once upon a time, a ordinary man died and reincarnated in another world.

Well... at least, that's the plot.

The air was heavy with dust. I could feel my lungs struggling to breathe as I slowly regained conciousness. It had, however, an strange essence, as if some kind of spice or perfume was being burned as to give it a good smell.

For some reason, the image of a hill, full of flowers and bushes, came to mind.

There were flowers, leafs and sticks all over my body. All of these came lying to the ground as I woke up. The stone coffin was cold and heavy, which made a true effort my attempt to get away from it.

The room was small, with its dark stone walls giving an eerie feeling to the surroundings. Were was I in the first place?

I checked my body, looking for any wounds or scars. I had the sudden feeling that I was supposed to be dead. There was a dull pain coming from my chest, but my body was as perfect as ever. I didn't recognize the clothes, however.

My garments were all black coloured and made me resemble more a peasant from the middle ages than a modern man.

"Who are you?" I asked the stranger, who was standing still by my side without any reaction.

The figure, slim and smaller than me, bought its knees to the ground:

"I'm Elisa, my lord. A witch and a servant of yours."

My eyes were starting to see through the dark.

A young girl, wearing a pointy black hat, with a dress with grey details knit by a grey ribbon on it's waist. Her hair was long and reached her waist, white as snow, but her skin resembled more the grey colour of the clouds. A true beauty, her blue eyes sparkled like a precious gem.

Mildly astonished by such an introduction, and yet thinking that this was a weird dream, I said:

"Well, If I'm such a lord as to have you as a servant, I must be pretty relevant. Who am I then?"

"You are the great calamity that is to come, the witch-king of legend, the one that came to conquer."

"And my name?"

"..."

The girl went silent. I didn't remember it either. These titles, however, gave me an idea.

"I am Zerubabel. But you may call me Babel from now on."

"Zerubabel?" She looked puzzled.

"Yes, Zerubabel, for I came from the city of destruction."

Her eyes gave a slight sparkle. She seemed happy with it. I gave a smile back to her, hiding the serious look in my eyes.

"For I came from the city of destruction," Said my self. "and I will never forget its sins."
