my mother the queen gifted me the name elowen meaning elf princess she wished for me to grow with beauty and strength I was born with light strawberry blonde hair and green blue eyes with fleks of gold scattered throughout my eyes I was born with pale solf skin with soft long eye lashes framing my face, me and mother looked like mirrors of each other, as I grew mother kept me hidden away it always seemed she taught me in secret and kept an eye on anyone who came in contact with me, only father, grandfather, grandmother and very few maid had access to me at all times, she told me it was to protect and guide me

as part of my initiation into my new role as princess of the shield marrow kingdom. I was only five at that time when mother got sick, i felt myself growing up.

i was still small then and didn't fully comprehend the magnitude of my new responsibilities as the only heir to the throne.

but soon enough the queen had passed, they said it was most likely the plague I ln her final days I could only speak to her through a curtain the one time a did catch glimpse of her face it look like rotting meat her sickness scared me when mother called me and father into her room in the night father knew it was time she sounded so weak " Ellie dear remember my love for you and don't forget you are my gift to this kingdom" she coughed dryly ad she finished speaking, then she started to breathe hard and shallow then silence I was ten. not only had our kingdom lost our queen but I had lost my mother, I was then forced to take up her duties, only then I realized how much I would need to sacrifice to fulfill them.

"Elowen, it will begin soon," a voice calls out from behind me. It's my grandmother, mother's mother. She smiles sadly at me from where she stands near the door, she has the same kind eyes.
