1 Prologue

Hi, my name is Caitlyn Rivers. My life is just like any other student — school, study, rest and repeat. If there was one thing I would say was different from others, it would be that I am obsessed with reading. So much so that I have my own library; A total of 36 books. All my most favourite romance titles.

Okay, maybe calling 36 books a library was exaggerating it a bit, but in my heart, it is the most awesome library. It even comes with my very own movie theater... Of 10 movies. But I bought them all with my own allowance! I am absolutely proud of my collection... But only at home. It's not that I don't want to show it off to others, but when you get too immersed talking about your hobby? Sometimes, mean people talk, and words do in fact hurt.

Even so, I love reading them. I love watching them too! Novels, movies, even Japanese shoujo manga. I love immersing my thoughts into their worlds, dreaming about being the heroine of the story, finding my own love.

One thing I never understood from them, was why the second leads are always just... Second. They are clearly just as handsome as the main lead, they are definitely much more approachable than the main leads, and some of them are even more perfect! If I were the heroines, I would definitely pick them.

At least, I wished real life worked as easily as the heroines in these stories. Too bad I'm much too introverted, much too shy to even be able to approach boys like that. But I've decided that this year, will be the year that I will try to make some friends of my own for once and maybe even find my own love in the process. Hopefully, with a new and improved mindset, I can finish high school with a bang!

Dear Diary,

Tomorrow marks my first day in a new high school. We've settled in to our new home, and the only places I've familiarised myself with are this street we're on — and the small park opposite — but here's a fresh new entry to make a fresh new start!

I'm a little nervous on whether or not I can step out of my comfort zone, but I decided to try my best!

PS. I heard from mom that there are a couple of boys around my age on this same street. I wonder if they're close childhood friends, just like in those novels! <3
