1 A World Gone Mad

In a dark back alley, the rules are simple. If you don't get caught, there are no rules. This is the silent agreement of the majority of those living in this time, in this world. Murder, rape, theft, betrayal, fraud, human trafficing. It doesn't matter what you do as long as you fulfill that one rule.

Crime has been getting more and more bold as the years pass. The mafia crime syndicates do their business in broad daylight and the police are either too scared or on payroll. Politicians lie to the public without end even on national news, but even when the facts are presented the people just turn away and elect them again anyways. Nobody wants to see what they don't want to see, because the truth is sometimes to painful to accept.

This story has a twist of it's own. The world, it seems, has a conscience here and wishes to balance the scales. Mother Nature doesn't sit idle when the order can no longer reset itself, and her greatest tool is about to have it's greatest debut in thousands of years. In the years to come the world will know this time as a great turning point in the ways of the world. They will refer to it as a glorious revolution. They will write songs and books and praise the brave souls that risked it all to bring hope to the desperate and bring despair to those who took hope from the world.

However, change is never an easy thing to accept. The people of at the time, even those who are being saved, will scorn and fear their saviors. Why? Because the ones doing the saving aren't white knights. They're not what society would consider beautiful or fair or even the pinnacle of justice. Fate is not without irony when it chooses it's champions. Sometimes it searches for light in the darkest of corners which only seems natural when the one's it opposes are the corrupt of the supposed "light".

The powerful didn't get there for no reason however. You have to ask yourself, "How did this happen?", "Why did these people come to power?". The reason is always the same throughout history. To the victor goes the spoils and kings always write their own history. This time power had nothing to challenge it, and temptation took hold of those who won. Which shortly led to the fear of losing their hold of the achievements and influence. The aspiring good turned out to be the chains of oppression and greed to change the world into a fenceless prison.
