1 Prologue

"You should be sleeping, it's time for bed." My father says leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed and a slight smile on his face.

As me and my twin sister play with our toys, I look up. "yes, I know father. Can you read us the story of the light goddess and the comet ?"

My sister looks up at father with big, bright scarlet eyes and an almost surprised look on her face saying, "quia ta amo fabula. (I love that story)."

Father moving from his position nodding to us to put up the toys and get into bed. "You do know there're more stories other than that one, I'm pretty sure I read that to you almost every night."

While helping sister put up the toys and getting into bed I look up at father with my almost identical features as my sister. "I know, but we like that one. It seems so real."

Father with his big rugged hands helps tuck us in bed and with an almost pure smile he says, "maybe it is."

With excitement written across her face, "ego credere est vera: pater est? (I believe it is true dad, is it?)"

Father now sitting in the rocking chair just next to my bed, where mother used to sit ever so often when we were still toddlers, with the book we know so well, "I guess, if you believe really hard, it might just be true."

Even though I was pretty sure back then it wasn't true and it's just a book, I still up to this day, wondered if maybe it was.

Father now with a serious face, brushing his shoulder length jet black hair behind his ear from his eyes so he can focus on the book in his hands. "The two of you promise to go straight to sleep this time?"

We both responded at the exact time, with silly smiles on our faces. While looking at each other it's like looking into a mirror, from our jet black hair to the clothes we were wearing that night, everything identical. "Bene! Promissum. Okay! Promise."

He starts to read, not too hard but loud and slow enough that we can follow.

"Hundreds of years ago, there was nothing, only blackness, no light, no sound, no life, nothing.

Legends has it that every now and again something mysterious happens. There's a rip in space ...."

"That's when the goddess comes" interrupting father, showing that I know the story inside out.

Father looks at me with his light brown eyes, frowns show up on his forehead. "Are you going to let me tell the story or do you want to tell it?"

Sister copying father, frowns on her forehead. "Sane clausa! (Yeah, shut up)!"

"Sorry." I say reluctantly, realizing my interruption.

Father continues the story, relaxing his face again. "Anyways, as I was saying.

Through this rip in space came a mighty light and gushing wind, so bright no darkness could hide and so loud silence was no more. From this light a beautiful angelic figure emerged. She was magical, she was gorgeous and she was of pure light. The one we call today 'Tricia' the goddess of light."

With my imagination running wild, I whispered. "Wow, I can see it!"

Father continues, clearing his throat "With her she brought the holy sword 'Azrael' the blade of destruction and death by which helped her cut through from the other dimension.

The Legends says that without the blade she wouldn't be able to get through space and time. For the blade separates good and evil, space and time and is the destruction of all. But on this special moment the goddess was there with the blade and something much more magical was about to happen. The legends also say that the goddess was drifting in darkness for what seemed like a very long time, her very life force being her only salvation by the blade had lost its power of which helping her cross over."

"Quare pater non amittit potestatem gladii? (Why father, did the sword lose its power)?" Sister asked with confusion written on her face.

Glancing over at her annoyingly, knowing very well she should know the answer to that question. "Because she used it, stupid."

"Hey! Both of you know I can stop at anytime." Father says getting annoyed.

Both of us jumping at the annoyance in our fathers voice. "Paenitet. Sorry."

Continuing "she drifted for what seemed like a very long time, with her light getting dimmer and weaker with each passing minute. She was losing sight of what was right, she was giving up on who she was, no one to talk to or ask for help, she knew she was all alone in this empty space.

Suddenly, there was a flash of light in the corner of her eye, brighter than anything she had ever seen before, even more brighter than how she use to be. The goddess wondered, what it could have been, what celestial thing

that is brighter than me, seeing it getting closer and closer.

While looking at my sister with a huge smile on my face saying. "The comet."

Father nods and continues. "It was as we call it 'tricia's' comet, after the goddess herself.

The comet so bright and so beautiful with fames of all colors, such as red, yellow, blue, green, orange, pink and even purple. As it was getting closer, the more beautiful it seemed and the goddess gazed in amazement not knowing what to say or do.

As the beautiful raging beast inched closer and closer to her, the heat was immense and powerful, an idea came; 'why not harness this power and make it my own to create life like he did so many times before.'"

Never knowing this burning question which seemed like the most important thing in my life at that moment, I asked father. "Who is he?"

Father looking up from the book in his hand. "No one really knows"

"Shhh!" Goes my inpatient sister, who's getting tired of me interrupting.

"Tricia took the blade with the last of her strength and stabbed the huge piece of earth, breaking it down to its core, creating such a powerful blast time itself stopped. By doing this the goddess and the core of the comet merge into one creating life as we know it today, but sadly the blade was lost in the darkness forever never to be found again....." father closing the book and resting it on the table just next to him.

"Is the blade really lost and is the goddess really gone forever." I sleepily asked father too tired to be excited anymore.

"Quod revera in finem? (Is that really the end)?" She asked yawning.

Getting up from the chair to kiss us on the foreheads. "No one really knows, but some people says it's here hidden away from man kind, waiting to be found and no that's only the beginning."

While drifting off to the awaiting silence of sleep I say, "when I get older and stronger I'm going to go exploring just like uncle and I'm going to find the sword and meet the goddess too, just watch me daddy."

Father blowing out the lights that illuminate our room. " I know you will my son but you have to sleep so that you will be well rested for what lies ahead. For both of you. I believe we can do all this in which Tricia our goddess may bless us."

I drift off to sleep without a care in the world not knowing that everything will eventually change and our lives will depend on those words I heard too often to understand.

Later that night.

Father standing by the window, knowing his precious children are safe and asleep. He reaches over to the table with a box on it, opens it and takes out a sword with a blank look on his almost pale face saying "maybe they'll never have to find out, I hope, that it's not just a story. I'm sure that they'll know that you're always looking over them my love."
