8 Chapter 7

Chen Mimi could not see it, but a look of pure pain was etched onto Bard's face. He hated how his daughter always seemed so on guard, even though a small 5 year old like her should be spoiled and unreasonable.

He wanted to snuggle her some more, but knowing his wife, he quickly shot down the idea and decided to go take a bath instead.

Soon enough, Merissa and Vius could be seen walking into the house.

"Ohh, Pappi is here." Vius exclaimed when he saw Bard's shoes. "What happened today?"

Bard, who had finished showering, smiled broadly at his son.

"We got a customer who bought everything at the store today. Had to close early due to the lack of goods." Bard explained, dropping a soft kiss on his wife's forehead.

Merissa's face shone in delight. "Is that a bonus I'm hearing?"

Bard laughed heartily at his wife's comment, not denying it.

Merissa smiled at him, and quickly made her way to the kitchen to make dinner.

"We'll be having steak and chicken soup tonight."

Hearing the names of his favourite foods, Bard laughter immediately burst louder. He was a very merry man.

Vius quickly went to take a bath too, excited about the day's dinner plan.

Chen Mimi sat in a daze in her room as she listened to the happenings of the people in her family. She couldn't even muster a bit of envy as she heard the joy and happiness of the people around her. She knew it was pointless. She only hoped that they would give her a bigger serving during her dinner.

She laid on the floor and started pondering about what Tarana revealed to her today.

"Awakening...."

Chen Mimi picked up her hair again and looked at the soft white colour.

She wondered what colour would it turn into.

If red, then it was fire, like Bard.

She had no idea what green or blonde stood for but she also wanted to look like her family at least somewhat.

Chen Mimi then started fantasizing on how it would be like if she could do magic.

She saw how Bard quickly lighted up the oil lamps the moment he stepped into the house. He also immediately put off the fire in the hearth. Even though there was no proof that these were all done by Bard, however, it was quite impossible that the house would have lighten up on its own.

Seeing the abilities of the people here, she was grateful that this wasn't like those novel worlds where people had to do silly chants to evoke magical power.

Chen Mimi had a small smile in her face. She was excited for her awakening day.
