30 Memories: Kim So-Hyun

So-Hyun stood in a daze watching Taka's back as he was walking away, Kang-Joo standing by her side. Standing there they watched the back that always gave them warmth and a sense of security, no matter the situation; ever since they'd first met.

Still, in a daze, their memories flowed, they couldn't help thinking back to when they'd first met Taka.

Flashback

A little over 2 years ago.

Above the busy streets of Busan, the wind blew softly. The sun shone a darkened orange as the day was beginning to wind down and the sun began to set.

High upon a building, an avatar of beauty stood watching people in the streets below. A small frown adorning her features as she got closer to the edge of the ledge she was standing on.

Every now and then dangling one of her legs over the edge causing a small smirk to appear every time she did. However, there was an oddity to the smirk; with each smirk, her eyes became wet as tears threatened to fill them. Brokenness filling them. The avatar was in pain. Her feet once again growing closer to the edge. A single tear falling into the winds.

The Avatar... Kim So-Hyun.

Noise emanated from the classroom. Some of the students talked and laughed, some fought to pass the time, while some sat studying. Nothing was odd about this scene, apart from the girl sitting in the far back of the classroom; sitting there watching and studying people's interactions with each other.

Now don't get me wrong this girl wasn't a loner, she had friends and she wasn't sitting by herself because no one wanted to approach her, nor was she sitting alone because she was in any way ugly, in fact, it was the complete opposite, she was goddess, as the students in the school had coined her.

Why was she sitting alone then you ask?

Well, from a young age Kim So-Hyun had come to the realization that everything in her life was false.

How? You ask?

At the age of six, So-Hyun had an older sister, or so she thought. One day when she was running around her home, she heard a conversation merely by chance, between her 'older sister' and her father.

"Sir, we can't do this anymore, we'll be found out. The police are already on our trail." Her 'Older sister' said.

"Don't go chickening out on me now, kidnapping the kid was your idea, to begin with." Her 'Father' said.

"Plus there's a lot of money riding on this." He continued.

"But sir..." She said before she interrupted.

"Don't but sir me! The kid still knows nothing, she still believes we're her father and sister, so keep the act up otherwise....." He paused.

"I'll kill you!"

Her sister stiffened at the threat.

"I understand sir." She said bowing submissively.

"Good..." His tone softened.

"We won't have to wait much longer now, they're desperate to get there daughter back."

Hearing that So-Hyun ran to her room as quickly as her little legs would take her and threw herself on her bed. Grabbing her teddy she began to sob. Her young mind spun trying to understand just what was going on. It didn't work. She became more and more upset and confused. Eventually, her young mind couldn't take it anymore and broke.

'Snap!'

Her young innocent mind broke.

Her emotions disappeared and boredom replaced whatever she once felt. Now lacking emotions to hold her back, So-Hyun's intelligence came into play as she began to plan how to best keep herself alive and how to get herself out of this situation.

How can a six-year-old do this you ask?

It's simple really, So-Hyun had always been intelligent, not necessarily academically but strategically, she was a genius, with her favourite past time being chess. Now with the removal of her emotions, that intelligence had been focused and continued to be focused more because of the situation she was in. The mind is truly a mysterious thing.

Soon after, her 'sister' entered the room and noticed something off. So-Hyun's eyes appeared cold and calculating for a split second before returning to their innocent playfulness she was used too. She pretended to be the sweet naive child she once was, waiting for the opportune moment to act. A week went by as her plan quickly began taking shape.

Divide and Conquer.

Slowly as the days ticked by, So-Hyun would hint at things she'd heard the other say, effectively playing her 'Father and her 'Sister' against each other, finally resulting in both of them calling the police on the other and getting themselves caught, much to the amusement of So-Hyun.

Returning to her real parents who were ecstatic to see her, she wanted to feel happy but that brokenness never left her. She wanted them to be happy, so she acted as the perfect daughter in hopes they would never see her true self.

Years passed as she grew older and her life continued, everyone loved her. Her parents couldn't ask for a more perfect child. Her teachers couldn't ask for a more perfect student. Even the students at her school couldn't ask for a more perfect crush. She was beautiful and graceful. She was gentle yet intelligent. She was strict yet kind. She was perfect.

A Goddess.

However, she didn't particularly enjoy her life.

Why?

She was bored. Everything was boring. From people to places. From clothes to cars. From guys to girls. Everything bored her. That was until she met him.

On top of the building

-

So-Hyun stood there staring down at the people below. She'd finally had enough. The boredom was killing her, literally. Her boredom had started to make her physically ill.

Standing on the edge she took a step only to be interrupted by a voice coming from the side of her. She turned to see who it was, only to be surprised to see a young boy around the age of 11 or 12 dangling his feet over the edge, his eyes staring at her in a playful manner.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." He paused, his grin widening.

"I mean, you wouldn't want people looking up your dress now, would you?" He said, followed by him laughing and So-Hyun blushing in embarrassment.

So-Hyun failed to notice her embarrassment.

"Perv." She said while pouting, making the boy laugh more.

"Hey, I'm not the one giving everyone a free show." He laughed even harder at that.

Seeing the boy beside her laughing, So-Hyun couldn't help but feel herself smiling, which eventually turned into laughter. Looking over at the boy, she couldn't help but feel intrigued. It then hit her. She wasn't bored, for the first time since she was six. She couldn't help but feel excited.

"So what's your name?" She asked.

"Me, I'm Taka, pleased to meet you.~" He said as he smiled at her, causing her to be mesmerised.

Back to the present

-

Staring at Taka's back, So-Hyun couldn't help but smile to herself, thinking about her first time meeting him. Trailing her eyes over Taka's back she pouted before making her way up to him and grabbing his hand, as he lead the crowd away from the school.
