1 Chapter 1

I was sitting in mr.Balmer's 4th period physics class daydreaming about how I wish could just strut up to the front of the room and slap him across his pudgy little fa- "Larse, how bout you stop staring off into nowhere and bring your focus back up here" mr.Balmer said, while pointing up at his old dirty white board. "Huh? Uh... yeah sure, sorry I just got carried away thinking about all the useful things I can do now that I've learned centripetal forces!" the class laughed and I gave sideways smirk to my best friend Eli who was sitting right across from me, but he just shook his head. "Oh really, nice to know you haven't been paying attention otherwise you would have noticed that we finished that section last week and are on gravitational energies now" Mr.balmer quipped, and the class laughed again. "Oh" i said " um...I knew that, that's why it was a joke mr. Balmer." " right..."mr.Balmer said "now that we have everyone's attention we can move on to the next segment, friction for-" the entire room started to shake violently, I could hear things fall to the ground, and I could see everybody start to loose their balance and fall to the floor; including me. The shaking eventually died down to a low rumble, but didn't go away completely, but people had started to pick themselves up anyway "what was that!" some chick across the classroom yelled. " calm down don't panic, I'll go over to mr.clarns room next door and see what's going on outside and ask if he knows what's happening " mr.balmer reassured. I was still sitting on the floor and scooted closer to Eli and asked "what do you think it was, an earthquake? I've never seen or heard Of an earthquake happening around here my whole life" I stated "maybe it's aliens come to probe us and harvest our organs or maybe gods fed up with us lowly humans and just decided start doomsday finally" I joked. Eli just laughed and shook his head "i don't know its probably just a rare earthquake... or maybe the government trying to cover a secret science base and bombed us to get rid of the evidence." I laughed " wow finally using that small brains creativity I see," Eli has been my best friend since I first moved here to Texas but he's always been kinda shy and quiet so it was funny to see him joke around and speculate about the earthquake. After we talked for a while longer I realized that mr.Balmer has been gone for at least 15 minutes, and even though he told us to calm down he didn't tell us to stay put, I decided to go check mr.clarns room. Mr.Balmers room didn't have any windows so we had no idea what was going on outside or elsewhere in the school since mr.balmers hadn't come back yet. When I walked in to mr.clarns room there were multiple scattered papers,backpacks, and other stuff scattered around the floor from the earthquake, but instead of people trying to clean it up, everyone was huddled around the window. I looked back to Eli and he just shrugged his shoulders so I kept walking to see what was happening outside.we were currently on the second and highest floor of our school, Callum high school, and when we got close enough to the window to see out of it we stopped and gasped, realizing why everybody else was so Mesmerized by what was going on outside.
