2 Leveling Up

Slimes...the weakest monsters, yet still a decent foe for Ben. His sword deals with slimes at a slower pace than most but still does it with relative ease. 'Two XP for a slime, if that is true for all slimes then it should only take another four slimes until my sword levels up! It should be about the same for me considering I am level 1 as well.' Ben was lost in thought when another slime had wandered into his vision. Ben smiled as he ran at this unsuspecting foe and struck him with his sword three times, the whole process taking 3 seconds.

[Slime Defeated]

XP gained: 2

[Leveling Sword]

Level: 1

XP: 4/10

Ben was satisfied with the results. His theory was right, he gained two XP for each slime he killed. Eager to see his power after his sword levels up he started his own search for the slimes. Ben was lucky he was in the hunting grounds as there was an abundance of slimes there. Ben looked for the closest slime to him and charted a path in his head to the closest one after that. Ben was looking to be as efficient as possible to make his leveling as quick as he could. Ben charted a path and had 10 slimes that he could deal with in a short period. Ben smiled as he charged towards the slimes with his sword in his hands ready to strike. "1,2...3!" The process repeated 10 times with the same three strikes. To Ben's surprise, after he killed the first three slimes he didn't get any messages in his head that his sword leveled up, or that he got any XP at all.

[Leveling Sword]

XP: 2/15

Damage: 6

Dexterity: 23

Speed: 31

Ben's mind was suddenly flooded with information as the messages all combined into one. 'That's why it didn't show right away...I killed the slimes consecutively causing the messages to overlap and combine into one.' Ben had a small headache from the newfound information but it was nothing that he couldn't handle. Ben was excited at first when he thought of his sword leveling up. 'It should be super strong after it levels up!' he thought. But reality is often disappointing as the damage barely went up at all. At least now he could kill the slimes with two attacks each. His new speed also allowed him to attack three times per second. Ben was still confused on how the dexterity worked as he has had nothing interesting happen with it yet. 'All in due time I guess' he thought to himself. Looking up at the sky, Ben could see that the sun hasn't set yet and would stay above the horizon for at least a few hours. This meant that he could stay in the hunting grounds and gain more XP.

The hours went by quickly for Ben, the occasional onlooker passing by. Ben had worked up a sweat over the time he spent grinding. The sun was just setting over the horizon and you could just see the top of it shining over the trees. The sight was beautiful, the sun rays scattering through the atmosphere less and less caused the sky to turn a lovely purple tint.

Ben's eyes grew wide, his new speed and strength were astounding and he knew it. 'Maybe The Leveling Sword isn't half bad' he thought to himself as he admired his sword. While the other swords had to be upgraded with coins, his leveled up on its own. Albeit this is a much slower method compared to just being able to buy the upgrade yourself. The Evolving Sword is similar to The Leveling Sword in that you can't upgrade them with money. The Evolving Sword gets stronger as you fight more enemies and defeat different types. It will slightly absorb the enemies strength and abilities. The Leveling Sword just seemed to level up as you killed more enemies at an exponential rate. Although the downside of the Leveling Sword is that the enemies you have to defeat increases at an exponential rate as well.

Ben having completed a day of training and picking up some items that very rarely drop from the enemies he defeated decided it's time to return back to the village. After his return into the village he went straight to the town square where the vendors are stationed. He took the items that he had in his hand to one of the vendors and sold them. 'Two pus sacs, one jar of slime, and a rusty dagger. All these managed to get me 18 bronze coins...should be enough for three nights at the local inn.' It was four bronze coins for the room and two for breakfast and dinner(one each). Satisfied with the day he just had, Ben decided it was time to get a good night's sleep and headed for the inn.

The inn was a top notch building in the village. It is what brings the village most of its coin, so the village chief puts as much money as he possibly can into it. At the front desk there was a tall bulky man about the same height as Ben(6'3). Although Ben was a bit on the skinny side of the spectrum it seemed that he and the man were on the same level of strength. You don't have to be an adventurer to be strong as there are other professions that will get you immense strength as well. After some awkward eye contact and silence with the man in front of him, an old lady came out of the back room and greeted Ben. "Sorry for the wait sir, what can I do for you tonight?" she asked in a tired and weak voice. Ben just smiled and nodded as he pointed to a picture on the wall stating "6 Bronze Coins for 1 Night: Breakfast and Dinner included." The old lady looked at the poster and smiled before turning back to Ben. "Six bron…" before she could finish her sentence Ben had already placed the coins on the desk.

The lady smiled and handed him the room key after taking the coins. Without so much as a second glance at the lady Ben turned and walked up the stairs to where the rooms were located. His room was all the way at the end of the hall and was by itself. Ben didn't care too much about where it was located, just as long as he would have a good night's sleep and some privacy. Ben opened the door to his room to which he was surprised to see that the room was a lot larger than he thought it would be. It had its own restroom and bath, it had its own kitchen for some reason and the bed was neatly made. The blanket was tucked under the top mattress and was made of a soft silk material. Ben was super excited to lay on this bed as it looked insanely comfortable. When he did he was met with even more surprise. The blanket was softer than it felt on his hands and was cool to the touch. The pillows were the exact same and seemed to float on top of the bed. It was only then that Ben realized that his body had been enchanted by frost magic to keep it cool. Before he could even comprehend everything that the room has to offer, he dozed off to sleep.
