1 Chapter 1

A long time ago, a man wrote a letter to a woman that was very special and so dear to his heart. However, due to overwhelming reasons he did not send the letter to this precious woman, he kept it for many years in a very safe storage, deep down in a secret place of his heart because of its sentimental value, and this is how he found the inspiration to write these unimaginable words that he never thought existed within him.

It was on a peaceful twilight of a beautiful day during the December holidays. He was listening to a pleasant and smooth sound that was made by birds; this kind of natural melody brought some sense of peace and harmony in his spirit. However, while he was listening to the twittering of the birds in the trees, he got distracted by an unpleasant, ugly and sad song that was playing on the radio Strangely, his heart fell in love with this song although he hated its ugliness. Confused by the flowing contradicting emotions of his heart and mind, he decided to listen to this song more closely and attentively. To his shock, the words of this song were incredibly amazing. He hadn't paid attention when he first heard it. He then realised the astounding power of the lyrics of this song; his heart fell more and more in love with the song.

Psychologically, he was unaware this song reminded him of a priceless moment that he ruined, a moment that was so special like seeing and smelling a sweet fragrance of a rare and beautiful red rose. The pain and joy of being reminded of this golden moment from his past were so unspeakably. He, therefore, discovered that the sadness and unpleasant vibes were only coming from the odour of his very own heart; the song was not ugly at all. Now that he knew what the song was whispering in his consciousness, suddenly an excruciating pain filled the brim of his heart.

The injustice caused by the distance between him and this mystery lady and the silence of the only woman he has ever loved was beginning to kill him. Terrifying thoughts crossed his mind instantly, he was now unsure, whether this woman had closed the chapter of their love in her life and moved on or whether this silence was just an instrument to disconnect those good memories that could possibly lead her back to him, so that she could carry on with her life without anything reminding her of him. These were scary questions striking through his thoughts.

He decided to take a pen and project these fearfully thoughts into words. Nevertheless, he had never written anything of this kind in his entire life, holding a pen in his right hand not knowing where to start and what to say. Suddenly, a persistent quiet joy emanating from listening to that song he hated took control and motivated him to explore special attributes and abilities to paint out his thoughts and imaginations into interesting words. Hence, the newfound joy blotted out all the fear such that he could not resist the flair that was pushing him to start writing.

He was filled with words and so full of energy to write, then a small voice from inside him instructed him to begin from where this entire ordeal started. He was spiritually transported to travel in the distant past through subliminal imaginations; how great for him was this virtue of being given an opportunity to go back into the past and taste again the evergreen beginnings of their wonderful relationship. The ink of the pen he held in his hand was ready to retrieve and to report those past events buried in his mind. This is how the story unfolds:

Many years ago, on October 17, 1986, in New Brighton Township, Port Elizabeth; a young, tall, light-skinned and handsome man by the name of Loyiso fell in love with a gorgeous young woman by the name of Nwabisa. Loyiso had lost both of his parents in a car accident the previous year. His father was born in a farm few kilometres away from Port Elizabeth, where he worked hard toiling the soil throughout seasons. He was a hardworking man, religious and uneducated, deeply attached to his family and the land. When his older two sons would visit he taught them everything. Loyiso's mother was a sales lady in a furniture store in Port Elizabeth. So loyiso grew up with his older two brothers, who were his best friends, they would compass earth and sea to make sure that Loyiso is educated and well taken care off.

Nwabisa was raised by a very strong couple and traditional parents who were highly educated and respected in the community. Her mother was a humble soul so blessed with kindness and love; each day she wore a smile on her face. A very quiet woman who spoke softly. Nwabisa's father was strict and a man of dignity, very protective of his daughter because she was the only child they had, he did not want any boys near her. Every morning he would take her to school before he went to work.

It, therefore, was odd that when Nwabisa introduced Loyiso to her parents, her father became fond of Loyiso and took to him as he would to his own son; he would at times jokingly call him a son in law. Her parents did a very good job of raising a sweet little girl who was full of respect. Loyiso and Nwabisa were both in the 9th Grade in High School. Meeting this wonderful girl brought a whole new beautiful meaning to Loyiso's life, especially after the loss of his parents.

As years went by, everything changed around them and so did they but the love they had for each other did not, Loyiso could remember the feeling of many years back because it was still the same. He cherished a perfect moment every minute they spent together. They grew strong in love, learning from their mistakes and gaining strength from disputes and fights. She was an exquisite beauty made by a hand of God, one special thing his heart had been cherishing for as long as he could remember. The best thing any man could wish for in life. A gift of no financial worth, whose excellence appealed to a man's heart, a brilliant young woman of many talents.
