Sound Like A Man

Here is what happened last time on The Legends Of The Time Traveller

As Dr. John and I are busy talking about the white rock, he starts getting suspicious of the two water bottles under my arm. He reminds me of the previous conversation we had regarding doing only approved work. Terry Allen, my friend, appears from the corner and apologizes to me for how everyone talked to me. I head back to my lab to start working on my experiment. The experiment is a success, and I am happy. Sarah knocks on my lab door and says that I have to go with her as she found something huge. We make arrangements to go when everyone is sleeping again.

I stand in my lab looking at Sarah, wondering how I will get the flashlights we need for tonight. I ask her;

"How many flashlights did you use to get there and back?"

"Two. I got there and looked around and the other to get back."

I start contemplating how I am going to do this, I say;

"Okay. I will make sure that we will be ready for tonight. But, you need to get cleaned up before anyone sees how dirty you look and start asking questions why."

"Okay."

She hands me the two flashlights and says;

"You will not be disappointed. I promise you."

She leans over and kisses me on my cheek. She excitedly walks to the lab door, opens it, and looks if the hallway is clear first before leaving. I wipe my face where she planted a kiss on my cheek to clean the area, and I start thinking of what we need for our trip to the shaft. I quickly get a box ready to put all the items into it, and I hear knocking on my lab door. I look at my experiment standing around the table while hearing voices murmuring outside the door. I ask loudly;

"Who is there?"

"It's me, Terry."

I sigh in relief and say;

"Come on in."

I quickly put the box down and step closer to the door. As the door opens, I see that Sheila and Stacy are with him. I continue walking closer to them and hug Stacy. I ask everyone surprized;

"What is this nice surprise for?"

Terry start to answers me;

"I do not know how to explain to them what you explained to me last night, so I brought them to you."

I nod at Terry and say;

"I didn't think that you would understand how to bring across the message. But it is okay. I will explain to the two."

As I start explaining to the two girls the urgency of not saying anything to anyone about what they heard, I feel Stacy taking hold of my hand. I look at her hand, and then at her, and I smile at her. After I have explained and they understand, Terry and I start up a conversation;

"Where are your chains, Terry?"

He smiles and says;

"I dropped it in the spring last night."

I hear something falling over behind us. I turn and see it is the girls playing with stuff around the lab. I quickly say;

"Please don't touch that. That is the only one we got down here, and it is something that I use every day."

I look at Terry and say;

"You got to get them out of here."

"Don't worry. The girls know what they are doing. You, my friend, need to worry about closing the deal with Stacy. She is into you, man."

I lean in to whisper in his ear;

"I know. I can not find the time to do it, you know. I am just too busy, and my time is limited. Remember what was said by Dr. John last night?"

"I know, Michael. But do yourself a favor and look at that beautiful girl over there. And she is into you, man. You got to make some time...if you know what I mean."

I hear something else drops. I quickly check what the girls dropped, and luckily it's not something important. I look at Terry and say;

"Get them out of here."

The girls move closer to the air compressor, and Sheila asks;

"What is in here?"

I quickly respond;

"Stop! Don't touch that. The contents can explode and we all will die down here."

She answers me sarcastically;

"Fine." And she puts her hand on the compressor to show me that she will not listen to me.

Terry tells the girls;

"Okay, girls. We spend enough time here. It is time to go and get some food. What do you say?"

Sheila replies;

"Good. I am hungry."

Stacy walks closer to me. She takes my hand and starts playing with my finger while looking at me with intense eye contact. She batters her sweeping eyelashes at me as she says;

"I felt how much you enjoyed last night." She bites her bottom lip and continues;

"We really need to do it again, soon!"

I swallow some air as I get a reminder of what happened. I realize I have to sound like a man. I take a breath and say;

"Yes. You are right."

I see her eyebrow lifting in contemplation while she keeps staring back at me with bedroom eyes and says to me;

"I will be waiting. You know where to find me, big boy."

She starts walking away while keeping eye contact with me. Terry says;

"See you later, okay?"

"Yes, you will."

All three of them walk out of my lab and close the door again. It feels like I can finally breathe now that Stacy left. I have to really try and remember what I was thinking about before they walked into my lab. I look around, see the box. All of a sudden, I remember what I was busy doing before they came in. I walk back to the box, and pick it up, and put it on my table. I take out the two flashlights and think what more I will need. I will need my backpack, water to drink, and gas masks. I grab the flashlights and walk to my lab door. I walk to the charging station to hand in the flashlights. I get to the charging station and put the two flashlights on the table. Randy walks to me and asks;

"So, what do you need?"

"I need these charged for tonight, please."

He looks suspiciously at the flashlights and asks;

"What are you doing in your lab with these?"

I look at him like he is an idiot and answer him sarcastically;

"Work."

"Really? You used flashlights while a generator is running? Why?"

"Not that you would even understand."

"Try me."

"I am using the two flashlights for a low light experiment. In full light conditions, it could create a dark void in time that could swallow the entire mine in a few seconds and destroy time as we know it. I am sure you do not want me to do something like that?"

He gets a blank expression on his face as he says;

"Whoa. No way. Really?"

"Yes, really. That is why I need the two charged for tonight. And actually, I think I need two more for my work tonight."

He nods and says;

"I understand. I will have the lights ready for you. When will you come and fetch them?"

"I will send my sister to come and pick them up from you. Maybe around six tonight. Because I can not leave my lab if you know what I mean."

"Yes, yes. I understand."

I give him a friendly smile and start walking away. I think to myself. That Randy is the biggest asshole down here, and he would not be able to figure out what is stinking around him while he is the one standing in shit. I decide to walk to my room to get the backpack and the gas masks. As I walk into my room, I head straight to my bed. I kneel and grab the backpack from under my bed, as well as the gas masks. I remove the white rock from my pocket and stare at it for a few seconds before hiding it under my pillow. I pick up the backpack with the masks and walk out the door to my lab. I come to my lab door and open it. I peak around the hallway to make sure no one saw me walking around. I walk in and close the door behind me. I head a voice saying;

"There you are. I have been looking for you."

I get such a fright and drop the backpack. I see it is Dr. John standing at my whiteboard. I ask him, surprised;

"Dr. John. What are you doing here?"

"I was looking for you, Michael. Where have you been?"

"I went to my room quickly."

"Oh, really. What is in the backpack, Michael?"
