8 08 - Master

(This chapter isn't edited yet)

"You said the male students were gathered around a table in the cafeteria looking at this magic card?! Did they put something lewd in it?" The school principal asked with a frown.

Seeing that the headmistress had the same thought as her, the inspector felt a little amused by this. "Yes, they were gathered looking at it, but not for the reason you were thinking." She answered. "Put your mana on that magic card and you will understand."

The headmistress looked at this strange magic card with the name 'Pong'. She knew this wasn't something a master did just by looking at this representative image of the spell.

Usually powerful masters liked to put extravagant things on the covers, like a big fireball that exploded a house, even to the point where most renowned magic schools had specific 'Art for Mages' classes, so that each card could be more beautiful than the other, and even increase the prestige of that, or the value in case the magician wanted to sell the spells he did, but this 'Pong' had only a small ball in the middle and two bars on the sides with a black background, something that even a 5-year-old could do better.

Without even looking at the back of the magic card she injected her mana into it. Suddenly a 10 inch transparent blue screen appeared floating in front of her, which shocked her.

"Yes, has any student ever learned to do a virtual projection? This is amazing, is he by any chance one of the third year veterans? Or even the second year?" The principal asked excitedly, after all, talented students brought prestige to the schools they studied by participating in competitions.

"Hehe, try injecting mana at frequencies 0, -1 and -2 to see what happens on the magic card." The inspector continued instructing without giving much information.

That made the headmistress' eyebrows shoot up sharply. "Did this student also learn to integrate mana frequency perception?! Dammit, even if he's a third year he's still a genius! That kind of code itself is very complex, and it's extremely easy to make this system cause interference with other mana reading systems."

"Hehe." The inspector laughed when she saw that the headmistress actually had the same reaction as her.

"But I can't figure out what the use for this spell is. Just moving these bars up and down, by any chance did he just create this to train the use of the mana frequency codes?" the principal asked.

But instead of answering that, the inspector held the other end of the magic card and started to control the bar on the other side.

As soon as the ball was defended, the principal unconsciously controlled her bar to defend the ball just as the inspector did.

Because of a variable in the code, the ball's speed would always increase each time it was defended, so without the director noticing, she started to sweat trying to control this bar and defend the ball that was coming faster and faster.

In a few minutes the ball got so fast that the director who was playing for the first time couldn't react and let the ball pass the bar's defense.

But what surprised her was when she looked at the spell that said the time and was surprised that 5 minutes had passed and she hadn't even noticed.

"That...how did time go so fast?" the headmistress asked confused.

"That's the purpose of this spell. This student who cast the spell was apparently bored with his roommate, so he thought of this spell after taking inspiration from a 'notebook' spell and developed this game. Just like we play chess or cards when we're bored, this student made this spell that works like a game to pass the time." The inspector replied.

Upon hearing the response, the principal was shocked. Magic has always been said to be synonymous with something used to make people's lives easier in many ways, not just for combat.

Seeing that a student at their school had developed a spell like that made her marvel, even wanting to meet this genius student who thought of such a practical use for a spell. A person with a card like this could be entertained for hours, without having to carry a board as big as chess, or needing as much space as a ball normally does.

Curious, she looked at the back of the magic card and was even more shocked. 'What kind of encryption is this? I've never seen anything like this before! These figures, these aren't even letters, how is this spell working with such strange figures without any kind of interference?' she asked herself mentally.

Seeing the principal surprised by the encryption on the back of the card, the inspector said with a slightly embarrassed expression. "When I borrowed this magic card from the student earlier, I was so surprised by its use and that a student could reproduce the 'notebook' spell that I forgot to ask about this encryption."

Hearing this, the principal immediately became serious. "I'm glad you forgot. You know cryptography is something personal to a wizard, even more powerful cryptography like this that I can't even imagine a way to decrypt, it's probably something created by a powerful master, I'd say that at least a 5-star Mage. If you asked about that, it was very likely that this student's master might be offended, and we can't offend such a powerful mage."

Hearing this, the inspector's skin turned white with fear. 'Did I almost offend a 5-star wizard? Holy Merlin, I'm glad I forgot about that!'

"But tell me, who is the student who made this magic card? For a genius like that, I would hardly have known. Was this made by Jessica?" The principal asked curiously, thinking that this could have been done by the most notable student at the school.

The inspector replied with a smile. "It's only natural that you don't know about him, after all he's just a first year who just joined the school yesterday."

"That... a first-year student did that?! His master is more powerful than I thought, making a 16 or 17 year old produce a spell like that just because he was bored, that's something a lot of wizards of 2 Stars don't even dream of making it... have you ever looked at his file?" the principal asked curiously.

"Yes, his name is Neo Parker, 16 years old, deceased parents, apparently lives to this day on his parents' inheritance. 1 Star Wizard, when he joined the school he still had 48 mana points according to our mana reader used in student enrollment ." The inspector replied in a professional tone.

"Did he write this spell with only 48 points of mana? Because of so many features I would say that this spell would have at least 700 to 800 lines, but with 48 points of mana it would be impossible to do a spell with more than 480 lines, after all, if if the mage cuts the mana interruption for the spell drawing, it would be very difficult to get back to drawing without creating any interference.

Not to mention that 1 Star mages still have very weak control over their own mana, wasting a lot while writing a spell, maybe he can only do a little more than 300 lines of code. Doing a spell like this with so little mana, our school finally has a genius to compete with other schools!" The principal said excitedly.

The White Scale School of Magic has always been intimidated by other schools of magic in neighboring towns for not producing a single genius for over 10 years, who knew that this year such a powerful genius would emerge?!

The principal was extremely excited, and seeing the principal's excitement, the inspector was also excited imagining that all the humiliation they went through could be swept away by this student.

---

The inspector and the principal were good friends, so after having tea and talking for a few hours, the inspector left the principal's office and went to the room of one of the first-year classes, the class Neo studied.

But when she looked out the small window in the door, the inspector was shocked, since in front of the blackboard, in the center of the classroom, the place where the teacher should be while lecturing to the students, what she saw was not the teacher. explaining things, but rather a student.

Looking around, she noticed that the teacher was strangely seated in the chair that this student was probably supposed to be sitting in, listening to the explanation and writing it all down as if she really was a student learning something from her teacher.

Even the students who were often noisy, were writing down what that student was explaining in the center of the room as if they were receiving great illuminations from a powerful teacher.

But what shocked the inspector even more was that this student who was lecturing in the center of the room was actually the student she had come to contact to return the 'Pong' card, Neo Parker!
