22 Chapter Twenty Two - Tang Wen

Yue Chen and Fei Luo travelled tens of kilometers a day until they finally arrived at the Holy Archen Empire.

As the duo arrived at the city gate a hulking figure blocked the gate with an outstretched hand. "Two Holy Archen coins"

"Archen coins?" Yue Chen didn't know what this guy was referring to and immediately frowned "I don't have any"

"Pay the entrance fee or get lost, this isn't a place for rats and dogs" the giant guard attempted to shoo Yue Chen away.

Yue Chen's brows knitted together as he tried to recall if he'd ever come across or heard of the Archen coin.

"Yes my master gave me Archen coins for such occasions!" Fei Luo ruffled in his pocket and pulled out two thumb sized sky blue coins. Passing the coins over to the guard Fei Luo nodded at Yue Chen to enter the city and walked forward.

Yue Chen who was deep in thought suddenly saw Fei Luo's gesture and felt grateful inside. Walking past the guard Yue Chen gazed at the structure of the empire.

The houses were built in an orderly manner and were all in good condition. The streets were built of golden bricks that were each lines with sky blue edges. The entire empire seemed full of life and free of conflict.

"Fellow brother where are you headed now?" Fei Luo looked over at Yue Chen curiously.

*Groooowl*

"A Demon beast...in the city?" Fei Luo tensed and cautiously looked around.

"Cough....I guess our first stop should be a restaurant" Yue Chen scratched his head awkwardly but didn't inform Fei Luo he was the culprit.

Fei Luo immediately agreed and the two found the closest restaurant to dine. Under Yue Chen's coercion Fei Luo paid for both meals.

The waiter was a young man in his twenties who had an humble look on his face. As the waiter came over to the table to receive the bill Yue Chen asked "have you ever heard of the Bai family?"

"Bai family? There are two commoner families in the city that is surnamed Bai, are one of these family what the young master is looking for?"

"What about the Devil Eradication Faction have you heard of them?" Yue Chen knitted his brows. Did the All Seeing Pavilion lie to him? Was there even a Devil Eradication Faction to begin with?

"Ah...." As if recalling something the waiter said " The Western Sea Bai family? it's north of this city but to head there one needs a suitable demon beast or the ability to fly."

"I wasted my time then" Yue Chen had heard how difficult taming a demon beast was and buying one was even more out of the question. A Nascent realm demon beast was already more than 700 gold coins.

"Where are you going fellow brother?" Seeing Yue Chen stand up Fei Luo inquired.

"To make money" Yue Chen deadpanned.

"If you need to get over the sea why don't you try to get to the rebirth realm?" Fei Luo keenly suggested.

I haven't thought of that! The Nirvana realm, also known as the rebirth realm allowed one to purge impurities and develop their innate wings.

Eventually Yue Chen shook his head "getting to the Nirvana realm may take me a few months or a lifetime, I have something I must do, this isn't an option"

The waiter listened by the side and gave his suggestion "if you want to get strong really fast why not attend the Archen Academy? The graduation requirements is the Nirvana realm after all, if you're not in too much of a hurry that is."

The Holy Archen Academy was a prestigious school among the five empires and didn't lose out in comparison to the Xuan Empire's learning institutions.

"My Father is an instructor there I'm sure he'll consider letting you guys attend the examinations" the waiter said with a smile "Oh and I'm Tang Wen, nice to meet you guys"

The duo accepted Tang Wen's greeting and introduced themselves.

"The examinations were held a month ago. The only way to attend the school might be apprenticeship" Tang Wen explained.

"My dad is looking for a capable apprentice to inherit his technique since I chose the path of a Master Chef" Tang Wen grinned with a proud look "You should have heard of the Lion Fist Tang if you belong to the Five empires"

Yue Chen nodded

Fei Luo who had been living in the mountains for all his life asked curiously "Lion Fist Tang?"

"Lion Fist Tang, the descendant of the Lion Saint that fell during the Saints Era. It is said he had slain a dragon with his bare hands"

"Yeah, thats my old man!" Tang Wen raised his head proudly at his father's mention.

"If your father is that terrifying why would you want to be a Chef?" Fei Luo was still in doubt.

"You see..... there's this girl...." Tang Wen went on to explain.

It turned out Tang Wen's crush dreamed of marrying a husband who could make tasty dishes...

Yue Chen didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Lion Fist Tang would probably smash his son to death with a pillow if he heard Tang Wen's reason for choosing such a future.

"I'll be finished here soon, can you guys wait a bit? I still have to wash the dishes" Tang Wen ran off into the kitchen.

A few hours later Tang Wen arrived from the kitchen wearing a yellow robe.

"Come I'll bring you guys to meet my father!" Tang Wen grinned and led the duo out the restaurant.

After a few corners Tang Wen arrived at the gate of a huge mansion. The guards politely greeted Tang Wen and let the trio through.

While greeting the servants Tang Wen led Fei Luo and Yue Chen to the clan leader's room "Wait out here"

Tang Wen then pushed the door open and waltzed in. The following moments were accompanied by the sounds of quarrel. One of the voices being Tang Wen's.

*Bang!*

The door swung open and a beaten Tang Wen was sent flying towards the duo
