39 Chapter Thirty Nine - Unparalleled genius beneath the heavens

A stream of blood formed a flower as it gushed from the wound into the air. A decapitated arm swung through the air in rotations followed by a bloodcurdling scream. "m-my arm!"

"With all that stuff I heard I expected more from the corpse demon, did I overestimate your abilities?" with a few slashes in the air the dark red blood on Yue Chen's blade slid off it's edges. From the darker color of the blood alone it could be seen it wasn't from a normal human being. The Furred Figure was actually a demon beast capable of assuming humanoid form.

"Corpse Demon? if our master had personally appeared this entire area would already have been laid to waste ignorant human!" the humanoid demon beast spat out each word through clenched teeth with a crazed look. "assuming this fragile form was my mistake, here I'll put you to rest with the rest of this goddamn place!"

A calm , collected voice spread across the area "Do not act impulsively, Luo Yan the master entrusted you with an important task I hope you won't disappoint the master for a second time"

"Tch! this is why I hate doing missions with you Brother Xiao" the humanoid beast called Luo Yan responded to his calling and immediately collected himself. Even after calming down the hostility directed at Yue Chen was clearly shown in his glare. "Where is your leader, have him come out at once!"

Geng Huan regained her posture in the air. Her rosy cheeks became pale and her breathing was more haggard than before. "what business do you have with our family head?"

"That's none of your business, little girl" at a speed visible to the naked eyes Luo Yan's amputated limb attempted to regrow. "Lowly demon? know your place filthy human! had the lord not requested it of me I would never attempt ceasefire with you insidious things" Luo Yan waved around his regrown limb and cursed simultaneously. As he spat each word the veins on his forehead bulged.

"What we want is simple" the demon beast that had reprimanded Luo Yan before spoke up "We have but one condition to this ceasefire, you must comply with our terms for the armstice to take effect. Naturally you humans are also able to make a request of your own to be fair"

"Damnit Xiao Long, this mission was assigned to me by the master, stop butting in you asshole!" Luo Yan cursed at the top of his voice.

As if he didn't hear a word Luo Yan said the youth called Xiao Long took out a written agreement and passed it to Qiyuan ShiDe and continued "the lord isn't very patient, I will await your reply at the end of the day" with a polite bow he turned and left.

"I told you to shut up didn't I, you disrespectful junior!" the irritated Luo Yan who was left behind rushed after Xiao Long while cursing as loud as possible.

"We should report this matter to the branch head" Yue Chen thought about it for a while then spoke out. Since he was not familiar with the proceedings in a situation like this it was best to leave it someone that was able to .

Yue Feng looked at Yue Chen and paused momentarily in shock. All his attention had been focused on the demon beasts that he hadn't realized Yue Chen had formed wings made of true energy. In a short period of two weeks he had broken through to the first layer of the Nirvana realm, such potential was unheard of! Regaining his composure after a while Yue Feng finally replied "I see Geng Huan hasn't informed you of the situations regarding our Yue family"

"I was behind closed doors until today, I haven't been informed" Yue Chen nodded in response.

A few minutes later at the Yue family library.

"Rushing cultivation base can make your cultivation unstable. I think it would be best if you didn't attempt another breakthrough soon" Geng Huan advised while picking up a cultivation technique from the a shelf.

"Mn" Yue Chen nodded absentmindedly. Unknowingly the incident from earlier kept resurfacing in his mind. When he had attacked Luo Yan he had aimed at his throat, at that time an invisible force had shifted the trajectory of his dagger and amputated Luo Yan's arm. Was it Luo Yan? Something told him it was Xiao Long's work. Even though he seemed calm and collected, there was an unnatural presence that he gave off that couldn't be concealed. Ever since then there was this uneasy feeling that had kept Yue Chen thinking.

Geng Huan placed a stack of techniques she had chosen on the table next to Yue Chen "You seem troubled, was the threat earlier too much for you?" she teased

"Yeah right, I'm not the one that got their ass handed to them" Yue Chen smirked and picked up a random technique and started to read it's contents.

After the demon beasts had left Qiyuan and Yue Feng had left to make a report to the respective families, leaving the two behind.

It is said the demon beasts are lead by the Dragon King Lao Long, a demon beast that had already attained peak True Melding realm and even the Demon Corpse Mountain adhered to the words of the Dragon King. The only reason the Demon Corpse Mountain had not started a demon beast riot this time around was due to the Dragon King's warning.

"None of these are compatible" Yue Chen finished checking the stack of techniques and threw the last one on the pile. Yue Chen had asked for Geng Huan's help in order to find new offensive techniques since he was basically a blank page when it came to techniques. Most of his fights had consisted of hacking and slashing. If it were not for his battle experience from his past life he would have died at least a hundred times by now.

"Don't think just because you're great at cultivation you can be picky with our family techniques!" Geng Huan snorted and looked away. She thought Yue Chen was merely being conceited with himself to talk down to the Yue family's techniques.

".... I'll look around later, you can go now" Yue Chen wasn't willing to fight with Geng Huan anymore and quickly dismissed her. It wasn't that the techniques were completely incompatible as a matter of fact, it was more of the techniques having too many requirements to practice.

Yue Chen stood up after a while and left the library. He was heading back to where they had encountered the two demon beasts earlier. It was a bit earlier than the agreed time but the uneasy feeling from earlier compelled him.

"If I remember correctly there is quite some time left till the agreed meeting?" Xiao Long creased his brows with a smile.

Yue Chen could feel goosebumps on his skin as Xiao Long greeted him. His sixth sense was screaming danger. This person was a lot more dangerous than Luo Yan.
