38 Chapter Thirty Eight - The Furred Figure

"The Corpse Demon is having a breakthrough. once it crosses it's current bottleneck the strength of the Corpse Demon will double and the difficulty of the demon beast riot will be increased by twofold" Geng Huan's expression became grim as she explained. "The elders had estimated another year until it had a breakthrough, something must have caused this"

After Geng Huan had finished explaining the issue at hand Yue Chen finally understood the dilemma the city was in. Stationed in Khaggurin City were 3 sky realm warriors from the Yue, Mo and Qiyuan families respectively. Even with the capabilities of these combined efforts completely fighting off the waves would barely be a feasible task excluding the Corpse Demon of course.

"When will the transfer array be ready to take me to the main family, do I seriously have to fight?" Yue Chen felt his world crumbling at the thought of getting into another fight. Every fight he encountered was resulted in him being gravely injured or kidnapped at this point he was almost better off as a princess...

Geng Huan frowned and said "Young master Chen the city needs all the help it can possibly receive how can you think of fleeing?!"

"Don't worry I promise to avenge you all when I become a Magic Saint!" Yue Chen chuckled at Geng Huan with a justified look.

Dumbfounded by Yue Chen's logic Geng Huan held back the urge to hit this shameless young master..

A loud crashing sounded near the area where Yue Chen was and shook the entire vicinity. Screams of anguish could be heard erupting from the people, causing disorder and chaos. The demon beast riot had already begun.

"Geng Huan help with the evacuation of-" before Yue Chen could finish a pair wings sprouted from Geng Huan's back and propelled her into the air. Yue Chen gasped at the dense spirit energy had gathered in the area Geng Huan was. A lower Spirit realm warrior! To think the Yue family had ample resources enough to send a Lower Spirit realm warrior to accommodate his basic needs! She must have been using an item or technique capable of completely masking the unique spirit energy a Spirit realm warrior or there is no way he wouldn't have realized.

"Heh" Geng Huan smirked and looked down on Yue Chen then bolted off in the direction of the Corpse Demon Mountain.

What was that look..was she..... sneering at me?! Yue Chen lifted his arms and waved his middle fingers in the air "wait until I surpass you, you arrogant bitch!"

"Don't you feel any shame cursing for such a childish reason? " An elderly voice asked awkwardly.

"f**k you too old man!" Yue Chen twisted and shot Yue Feng a glare. Now that he thought about it, telling a warrior stronger than himself to evacuate the citizens while he was heading to deal with the threat was a slap in the face for him.

"Geng Huan's family has served the Yue family for centuries. Even though she has taken up her mother's duties as a maid Geng Huan's potential for learning and cultivation are the highest I've seen among the youngsters of this generation. Unfortunately, without the Yue family's permission Geng Huan has no chance of ever accessing the Yue family's resources since she is not one of their bloodline or kin. Surprisingly she has made it this far without any resources at the age of 19, this is a feat impossible to even myself" Yue Feng sighed and shook his head "She isn't a bad person, she was only teasing you, do not hold a grudge"

"..." Yue Chen touched his face and tilted his head "I'm not that type of person"

"That's good to hear, hahaha!" Yue Feng chuckled at Yue Chen then his expression became calm again. A pair of translucent white wings sprouted from his back and lifted him into the air.

Seeing Yue Feng fly off Yue Chen smirked "highest potential you've ever seen? Then you've never met this granddaddy!" as he said this wings made of azure colored spirit energy appeared behind Yue Chen.

Boom!

Yue Chen stomped on the ground and propelled himself into the air and followed after Yue Feng.

The protective layer surrounding Khaggurin City shook with every strike. Cracks had begun to spread across the surface resembling a gigantic spider web.

"This doesn't make sense!" hovering above the city Geng Huan frowned as she scanned the city. The protective layer around the city was collapsing but there was no sign of a beast wave!

"Human, where is your leader" a sinister voice resounded in Geng Huan's head. Instantly a head spilitting pain assaulted Geng Huan's mind "w-who?"

An figure wrapped in cloth from head to toe soon appeared in Geng Huan's field of vision. The only parts that didn't seem to be covered were his arms that were covered in purple fur that glistened in the afternoon rays. "I do not wish to kill needlessly, bring me your leader and I will spare the city of humans from pointless bloodshed" as the figure lifted it's palm, what was left of the barrier shattered in an instant, turning into spirit energy.

"The spirit barrier was shattered so easily?" Geng Huan shuddered at the thought. "who are you and why do you want our leader?!"

"Impudent girl know your place" as the furred figure uttered these words an unbearable pressure crashed down onto Geng Huan and sent her smashing into the ground.

Yue Feng and Yue Chen had arrived just in time to see Geng Huan being effortlessly suppressed.

"A mere hybrid dares defy this ancestor? seeking death!" the furred figure sneered at Geng Huan.

Before the figure could respond Yue Chen's blade had already made it's way into his flesh.

"Huh?"

"Wh-what?!"though he had sensed Yue Chen's killing intent beforehand, the furred figure couldn't evade his attack completely!
