1 MORTAL KOMBAT BEGINS

At the shaolin temple of Earth Realm, a young

monk named Liu Kang meditates in the main hall, candles lit all around him. He is then suprised when the candles go out by themselves. As thunder is heard in the background, Liu looks around his surroundings, sensing someone there with him.

All of a sudden, he quickly dodges a kick from behind him, rolling out of the way of it. He gets to his feet and looks around, seeing no one around him. Liu Kang is then punched in the face and kicked in the side, causing him to fall to the ground. He quickly kips back up to his feet and closes his eyes, trying to sense who's attacking him.

Lightning is seen and felt all through the temple, giving Liu Kang goosebumps. He then grabs the mystery attacker and slams them to the ground. When he looks down, he sees that the attacker is Raiden: the thunder God.

"Lord Raiden? I'm sorry, I didn't know it was you." Liu Kang explains, helping the God back to his feet.

"No apologies necessary Liu Kang, you just did what you were trained to do. I only hope it'll be enough."

Raiden uses his lightning to re-light the candles.

"So, it's time then?"

"Yes. Do not worry, everything you've been through has prepared you for this."

"I will not let you down, Raiden."

Liu Kang bows to Raiden.

"I'm sure you won't. Come, it's time to meet the others. The tournament will begin soon."

In the morning, Liu Kang and Raiden are waiting on a boat for the rest of the group to arrive.

"Are you sure they are coming, lord Raiden?" Liu Kang asks.

"Patients Liu Kang. They'll be here soon enough." Raiden replies.

At that moment Sonya Blade, a member of special forces shows up.

"Hello Ms. Blade. I am glad you are here."

Raiden says.

"Welcome to the team."

When Liu Kang offers his hand to Sonya, she walks right past him.

"Lets get something clear, I'm not here to be apart of some team, I'm not here to be friends. I'm only here to get my hands on Kano and rescue my partner."

"Understood." Raiden replies.

A few minutes later Johnny Cage, a famous actor/martial artist, shows up in a limo, with a bunch of bags.

"Hey, Johnny Cage, world class actor."

"Hello. I am Liu Kang, of the white lotus."

Liu Kang bows to Johnny.

"Wow, you guys really take method acting to a whole other level."

"Uh, method acting?"

Johnny then looks over to see Sonya standing alone.

"Hold that thought Bro, I see a hot babe that's about to get Caged."

"O-k?"

Liu Kang and Raiden talk alone.

"Lord Raiden, do they know what's at stake in this tournament?"

"In due time. Until then, they must walk their own path."

Johnny then approaches Sonya, combing his hair and sprays his mouth with breath spray.

"Hi, Johnny Cage, famous actor. And you are?"

"Not interested." Sonya says, not even looking at Johnny.

"That's what they all say."

Sonya rolls her eyes and walks away.

"Yep. She wants me." Johnny says to himself, smirking arrogantly.

The boat then starts to set sail on the water. As the boat moves, Liu Kang starts meditating, Johnny Cage is looking at himself in a mirror, and Sonya is just staring off in the distance. Johnny and Sonya then look at Liu Kang.

"So. What's your story anyway?" Sonya asks, making Johnny think she was talking to him.

"I'm glad you asked. See, when I was a boy, I always wanted to-"

"Not you, idiot. I was talking to the monk."

Liu Kang chuckles to himself.

"When I was born, my parents gave me up to the monks of the white lotus. Then I was trained by Master Bo' Rai Cho in Martial-Arts. I was then chosen by Lord Raiden to compete in Mortal Kombat. I've been training for this moment for most of my life."

"That...is...an. Awesome origin story, man it almost sounds real. Bravo dude."

"Uh, thank you? And what about you, Sonya Blade?"

Sonya stays silent for a moment, wondering how much she should tell them.

"Well, I was raised in a military family. Joined the army when I was twenty two. I am now apart of earth realms special forces.

A few days ago, my partner, Jax was taken by an organization called Black Dragon, led by a shit bag named Kano. That's why I accepted the invitation."

Raiden then appears, surprising Johnny.

"You will get him back Sonya blade. You have my word. While Johnny Cage and Liu Kang are fighting, you'll have the opportunity to find your partner and Kano."

"Perfect, can't wait to get my hands on that S.O.B." Sonya says, cracking her knuckles.

"Man, that's hot." Johnny says to himself.

They soon approach Shang Tsungs island and see an even bigger ship than theirs beside them. Liu Kang then notices a familiar face wearing a mask on the ship.

"Master Hasashi?"

"I'm afraid the man you knew as Hanzo Hasashi is no more, Liu Kang." Raiden tells the monk.

"Who's that guy?" Johnny asks.

"He was once a proud warrior of the Shirai-Ryu clan. Unfortunately, he and his entire clan was wiped out by a rival clan called the Lin Kuei." Raiden replies.

"Wait, you said he was killed too. How is that possible and he's standing right there?" Sonya asks.

"A sorcerer named Quan Chi resurrected him as a revenant. Now, he is known as scorpion."

"Woah, these backstories are amazing." Johnny says.

Liu Kang stares at Scorpion with a somber look, being really close to the Hasashi family. As the ship docks, they all get off and see many different fighters.

"Some of these costumes look pretty good.

Now, where's my trailer?" Johnny asks.

As Johnny and Sonya walk away, Liu Kang talks to Raiden.

"Lord Raiden, does he really think all of this isn't real?" Liu Kang asks.

"It appears so." Raiden replies.

"Should we tell him?"

"His journey is one of self discovery. Besides, I find it amusing."

The two smile and walk to the temple where the tournament will take place.
