4 Chapter 3

It had been 5 days since we had set sail towards Genesis. I had learned one thing since beginning this journey, Captain Dravers was a fierce woman and an even more ferocious pirate. She stood on the bow of her ship and looked out on the rising sun. She shouted commands with a demanding tone in her voice, and it was felt throughout the boat. I helped the crew hoist the giant sails in the Ancient Ocean's bellowing winds. I watched as the men raised the Blood-stained Pirate Flag of the Blood Path, the mightiest pirate ship on the nine seas.

"You look like you have never been on a ship before lad" She looks at me. In the sunlight, her rainbow hair shown like the stars and her golden eyes looked like two shining gold pieces."It is actually," I respond. She smiles at me, patting my shoulder.

"I never got your name lad, what is it?" She smirks and turns towards her first mate, Lion, telling him to make sure the men were loading the cannon there was bound to be navy men in the waters, especially with the wars going on in Vesdia.

"My name is...Legend," I smile.

I like the new name I had given myself for the people of Krad would write it down in their history books the name of the Legend of Krad, who saved it's people from the tyrant King Urslay Esout and his wretched houseline that had ruled over men so unjust for years.

"A curious name for such a young man, but oh well, I had drowned and killed men with worse names" She laughs, it was still a shock for me to stand in front of a mer seeing what the books at the guild told us about them.

Usually, Mer or Mermaids kept to the lost sea near the lost islands, but it was rare to see half-breeds. Mer were known to just drowned every sailor they can across and never thought twice about having children with them.

Dravers catches my gaze, and her body relaxes. Lion walks towards us, and I can't help but stare at the man he probably wasn't much older than me, but he was physically fit. I was as thin as a bone.

"That's where you are!" Gideon walks over to me, his hair all astray and his eye wild with fury. Oh shit, I forgot to wake him up.

"Gideon, I can explain..." He raises his hands and stops me.

"I have half a mind to knock your fucking teeth out right now, I was scared shitless thinking they had thrown you overboard or worse your mothers had found you next time for fuck sakes just leave a bloody note" Gideon hit me across the head with the palm of his hand and a loud smack echoed over the empty ocean.

Dravers and Lion just look at me to see if I am going to make it through getting hit by a furious halfling thief who woke up on the wrong fucking side of the head. Gideon turns towards everyone and smooths out his hair.

"Now, if you all need me, I need to go clean up" He leaves just as fast as he entered.

"Fuck Mate, he must be some friend to smack you across the fucking head," Lion says, ruffling my hair. "Besides, you must be new blood for an elder thief to hit you that hard."

I look at Lion and growl, "I am not new blood!"

"Then, what are ya?" He raises an eyebrow, and beneath his snow-white brows, his green eyes stand out. My heart starts beating against my chest.

"I'm the best damn assassin the guild has ever seen," I reply, and he chuckles before ruffling my hair.

"I like you kid never met someone so cocky before except for Captain," He looks down into my eyes and gives me a smirk before returning to work.

As the sunset on what I could only describe as a beautiful day at sea, I was headed back to my cabin when I crashed into someone knocking myself to the ground.

"Watch where you're going... Lion?" I look up to see him smiling down at me.

"Come on Legend best nobody sees you on the floor," He outstretches his arm, helping me to my feet.

"Thanks..." I murmur under my breath, his lips curl into a smirk, and his eyes investigated mine.

"Best make it back to cabin before the sunsets Captain Dravers can't contain herself after sunset on the open sea, plus the younger the man is, the more likely she is to drown him have a nice night" He walks away, and I grab my cloak walking into my cabin.

Gideon looks up at me from his bunk, his hair is a mess, and he looks pissed. I put down my stuff, his eyes watch my every movement. Finally, I get up into his bunk with him when he decides to speak.

"I shouldn't have shouted I just...This is not the time for disappearing Jasper; you can do that on the island but not on the open sea" He runs a hand through his hair, his eyes glance at me, "Jasper... I need to say something".

"What's that?" I through my cape to the floor, looking at the mess I had made.He avoids the question for a moment and looks at me with a smile on his face.

"Do you remember when we first met..." The words hit me what he was up to; this was not like Gideon; something disrupted his usual attitude towards things.

"Gideon, what's wrong?" I ask, he looks directly into my eyes, putting a hand on my shoulder. Before he can speak a shriek like nothing I have ever heard before erupts from above deck, jumping down from the bunk, I grab my sword, and I rush towards the door when Gideon springs in front of me.

"Are you insane? It's probably just Dravers killing one of her hostages!" He shouts at me, I grimace.

"That was a woman, not a man Gideon, I think Dravers might be in danger, and I think I know who it is."
