In The Heavens

High above the firmament, there stood a celestial palace. The palace was grand and majestic. It exuded white light and seemed to be floating there. Inside, in a heavenly room, a young woman was resting her chin on her right palm. Tears were flowing slowly down her fine dark skin. Her eyes that were shining like stars in the skies were blinking quickly.

"I have failed you my people, I have really failed you." She sobbed looking downwards while shaking her head slowly, "This brother of mine is always faster than I think, what is he going to do with my subordinate?"

The southern wing of the palace shone brighter than the others. Within one of the rooms, a man stood before an altar. He seemed to be in his late sixties. He was light skinned with a handsome face. He wore a long white robe with a purple cloak. The altar before him was producing white smoke continuously.

This was the Acme prophet. His duty was to divine the future and inform those in the palace. Mortals were only aware of the One from above, who was known as the Supreme Monarch here above the firmament. Mortals also believed the One from above was a man. She was a young beautiful woman.

There were seven immortals; six brothers and one sister. Each immortal had his or her duty. The Supreme Monarch was the youngest amongst the seven but was gifted with ruling powers hence being the greatest. She was capable of doing things that none of the six men could.

The Lord of darkness, was their eldest brother. He used to be the leader of them all, but since the emergence of his sister, he had felt power leaving his hands and resting on his sister's. That did not really bother him because he was the heir of the throne. One day, he was watching his sister playing with her powers in the palace garden. He was fascinated by her beauty, so much that he started falling in love with her.

He started annoyingly following her here and there hoping to go to bed with her. This really bothered her. She turned him down several times but he never gave up. Unable to restrain himself, the Lord of darkness one day tried to ravish his only sister. This led to a serious fight between them. In the end, the Lord of darkness was mercilessly defeated. Out of embarrassment, he fled from heavens to go begin life elsewhere. That was also the dawning of enmity between the Lord of darkness and his siblings.

"I know my little sister is on the verge of complete breakdown at the moment," Acme prophet smiled, while shaking his head which was currently looking upwards, "I wish she knew that this was none of our plans but it is the best thing that will happen for us in this war. It is going to be fortuitous adventure for that young man. I see victory at our doors."

After he finished speaking, the prophet sighed deeply before clasping his hands with joy. He wanted to continue with his divine duties but was alarmed by harried footsteps towards him.

"Little sister, what is the matter?" He couldn't help but ask upon seeing Supreme Monarch walking in his chamber wearing a gloomy face.

"Please tell me our mighty prophet. Is our brother going to destroy the people we made?" The Supreme Monarch asked, looking at the prophet expectantly.

"I do not really know sister." The prophet shook his head.

"You must be jesting, aren't you? You are the only one capable of seeing what none of us can see in the future, do not try to make me think that you are not capable at this moment."

"Calm down sister. This is not the time to let your temper rise. You know how powerful that brother of ours is. After you defeated him, he has grown to be as powerful as you are. You also know how good he is at playing with the elements, he can interfere with my work..."

"Stop trying to convince me brother. You know better than I do that whatever powers he got from our bloodline only rests upon him as long as he is loyal to the rest of us. He might be powerful at the moment, but you know he cannot interfere with anything that happens inside here. So, tell me the truth, or I will run in the entire palace naked" The Supreme Monarch demanded.

'I really want to tell her the truth, but that will only lead to the deaths of these poor humans. This sister of mine is good at being complacent. She will see the truth later anyway, but she won't know a thing from me.' The prophet declared inwardly.

"I am speaking to you third brother, what's the matter with you?"

The Supreme Monarch was getting a little impatient and angry. This was especially so after the prophet remained silent even when she issued a threat.Of all her six brothers, this was her favourite since he adored her more than any of his brothers. She also felt more comfortable being near him compared to others. If there was something he could not stand, it was seeing her do what she said she would do. Yet, after threatening, he only lowered his head to ponder over what she did not even want to know. What was wrong with him?

"Oh! I...am so sorry little sister. I was only worried about those poor humans. Our brother seems to have the upper hand. If we don't act quickly, we are going to lose." The prophet answered feigning a sad look before turning to his altar.

The Supreme Monarch was left sighing heavily with bitterness. She just stood there seemingly unaware of what to do next. After a minute or two, she clicked her tongue and disappeared.

"I don't know when she will grow up. This sister of mine..." The prophet shook his head dotingly as he continued with his work.
