217 The Custodians Join The Chase

Elsa paced around the main hall of her mansion. She hadn't heard from Zedd or Raiya ever since they left toward Bodrick's summer house. Her men came back the same night with Beatrix and Bodrick in tow. They said they'd encountered some difficulties, but nobody explained what they were.

They only said that Raiya had ordered them to leave. She said she'd help Zedd and leave the place before any reinforcements showed up. Elsa tried to calm down, tell herself that Zedd would come back. He had faced worse odds before, and he always came out on top.

After he failed to show up the next morning though, panic started seeping through her. If Stalwart ever captured them, her entire enterprise would fall. The mad wizard never forgave treachery, and he punished severely for it. So Elsa succumbed to the gnawing suspicions she had, and sent the bloody baron to scope Bodrick's summer house out.
