15 Conviction

Ace sat up rubbing his eyes. "That was an awesome dream" Ace smiled to himself. Wearing a normal jacket and pants, he went down to the bar to get some food.

"EXTRA ALE OVER HERE", a voice yelled from one side of the bar. "ME TOO!", yelled another from the other side. "GET LOST! I ORDERED FIRST!", yelled the other side. "WHO ARE YOU TO ORDER ME AROUND?". "HUH! WANNA FIGHT OR SOMETHING!", the two yelled among each other.

The whole bar was crowded with people as shouts and whispers filled the air. The waiters and waitresses were running around serving customers everywhere.

'Damn it's so noisy, since when was it ever this busy', Ace looked around as he sat at a table in the corner. An interesting conversation suddenly came from the table behind him.

"Did you hear? They still haven't found the killer since this morning". "Yeah, I know right. The fortress has been on lockdown since this morning, it would be amazing if he actually escaped", the group talked amongst each other. "Can't believe some people think he is a hero" a gloomy looking man interrupted before continuing, "He kills people, that's not heroic at all".

"True true, well that's why there are so many of these heroes around". "Rumours say he has a bounty over him worth a thousand gold, you know how much that is? You could buy an S grade weapon with that" a girl announced getting excited.

"Hi there, what would you like for dinner?", the waitress came around passing the menu. "I would like the trino steak please and a jar of ale" Ace ordered. "Alrighty then, I'll be back with your food, I apologise beforehand as we are short handed on staff", the waitress said before walking off. "Clearly" Ace mumbled as he continues listening to the table behind.

"I don't want to be anywhere near him if he is still in this fortress", the girl told the group. 'If only she knew' Ace snickers to himself. "Yea me too, I don't want to die so young. I still got a life to live", a young man declared as he finished his ale. "You mean by looking at woman all day?", the gloomy man retorted making the whole group burst out laughing.

'I still got one last request to finish', Ace thought to himself as he walk along the corridor. 'And I can't leave this place until they open those gates again, what a pain' he sighed to himself as he looked out of the window. The crescent moon shone high in the sky and stars twinkled making the night beautiful to look at. 'I still have time until the dark moon, guess I'll extend my stay here. Maybe stock up on my weapons', he gazed towards the night sky.

"H..hi there", a soft voice spoke beside him, catching him off guard. A green eyed girl looked at him with wide eyes. "Thank you for saving me last night, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you", she shyly said. "Here are the clothes. I've washed it clean", passing the clothes that were folded neatly.

"Thanks", Ace replied while taking the clothes. "Listen here kid, I know you never sold me out. I thank you for that. I suggest you go your way and I go mine", Ace continued as he walks towards his room.

"Wait!", the girl bowed to him. "Please take me under your service! M..ma..master!" Ace stopped in his tracks. "Do not ever call me that!", Ace growled accidentally releasing his bloodlust. The girl staggers towards him "I do not have any friends or family, people don't even notice me when I'm at the guild. Even if you take my life, no one would mourn for me. You saved me even though I am nothing to you", she told him before finally standing behind.

Tears trickle down her cheeks as she look up to him. Ace turned around with a blade in his hand. "Alright then, take this blade and slice your throat, I'll mourn for you", he said as he passes the knife to her.

She took the blade with shaking hands staring at it for a moment. "Really?", she looked at him. "Yes, I'll dig a graveyard for you", Ace replied nonchalantly.

'She doesn't have the conviction' he thought to himself. Just as he was about to take the knife from her, "Thank you", she said as she closes her eyes and placing the knife against the side of her neck.
