14 A Hero? Or a Killer?

'Hopefully she doesn't recognize me' Ace thought as he glided through the forest. He stops near the monster bear who finally succumbed to his wounds. Its body seems to have been eaten almost to the bone.

The ravens were nowhere to be seen because dawn was arriving soon.

'Take what I can, people are going to be here soon' Ace thought to himself as he heard people running over from afar.

Dashing off, he saw that they were the same group that drank at the table beside him last night. 'Hmmm guess I'll leave it to them then' looking at the five running off.

"THERE! I heard noises coming from over there which sounded like a battle" a voice echoed through the forest. A group of adventurers appeared around the corpse of the monster bear.

"Seems like it was attacked by the three-eyed ravens" a man came forward inspecting the body. "No, it was attacked by humans first, look" a woman pointed towards faint scars of sword marks and bruises on its leftover skin.

"Over here! I found someone" another adventurer yelled from the other side. The group came over to be shocked as broken trees and stones scattered all around.

'What the hell happened here?', they thought to themselves as they walk across what seems to be like a battlefield.

Suddenly they stopped in their tracks when they a saw a girl dressed in clothes that did not seem to fit her moving towards them. She was staggering through the debris, bruises seen on her fair skin.

"Are you alright?", a young man in red armor came forward with a concerned look on his face. The girl nodded while she continued walking past them, her face seemingly lost in thought.

'I wonder what happened here', as he looked around. A graveyard was laid in the middle of it all, a symbol of a spade drawn over it with a triangle in the middle.

"It's him again!", the tracker of the group who had been bringing the group here exclaimed. "He's here? What the hell, I thought he was locked down in Mistral City", the woman came over observing the grave. "Seems like he managed to get out, but why here?", the red armored man said while looking around.

"We'll dig to find out, maybe then we'll know what is going", the tracker suggested. Just as he was about to touch the grave, the red man stopped him.

"We don't know what's in that, what if it's booby trapped?", he sternly told him off. "Toko! You're the fastest here, go to the fortress guards and bring them over here".

"Yes Leader", a man in black clothing answered before speeding off into the forest. "Keep her here, she might know something", the Leader spoke to the group.

Soon the guards along with their commander came over to check on the scene. They were all shocked to find a headless body inside the grave. The girl who was found told them everything that she knew.

News spread around the fortress when they returned, many were shocked to find out that the hero was actually a former Assassin that loved to kidnap women and even men. All in disguise of quests and missions.

Many started to think that this Ace was a hero and not an Assassin. Others thought he was just doing his job because someone hired him. More shocking news came from Mistral City.

The Treasurer that was found dead had been using the city money for himself locking it in his private safe. While the City Vault had not received funds for the past year.

The other body that was found was an ex-subordinate of the Gajalaka Clan, named Rockfist. He and his group had been trying to steal the money only to be slaughtered in the end.

One man was oblivious to all this as he slept on his bed peacefully. His clothes left on the floor with his katana lying beside him.
