147 159. The Newbie (part 1)

A few days later, at the 5th floor of Fenryr Tower.

"Hey cap, did you hear the news?" asked a burly man while smoking something akin to a cigarette.

The captain took the cigarette from the soldier's hand, took a slow drag, holding the smoke in his lungs and while passing back to the man, he released the smoke, and asked back, "What news? It's been dead here"

The captain could not be more right, the 5th floor of the tower was a quiet place, few people could reach that floor, and the ones who reached usually didn't stay there for too long and moved to higher floors, for him, that was not bad at all, it was a decent job, with a decent pay, and not much to worry about.

"So you didn't hear about the newbie?"

"What newbie? Spill it out!" said the captain, already annoyed. "Our break ends in 10 minutes."
