1 Chapter One

Jason's Pov

"Get your suitcases together. We're moving." The room had been quiet for quite some time, but my dad announced breaking the silence.

"Come on Dad," Letting out an exasperated sigh, I followed behind as he strode out of the living room.

He continued straight into my bedroom, opened up the wardrobe, and went ahead, picking up my clothes and sticking them into a suitcase.

"I'm not moving, at least not because I saved someone from dying," I say to him, as I felt my heart slamming against my ribs like a caged bird.

"Yes, you are. I cannot risk these people discovering what we are and since you have declined to stop using your powers to help them, we can not stay." He declared in his baritone voice, much to my dismay.

"Okay, indeed, if we are to move, where do we go to this time? You spoke of it yourself that you and Mum have been doing the running even after you left Kimoptra." I blurted but regretted the last name that prevailed out of my lips.

I could have sworn I saw something flash through his eyes. Was it pain, anger, or regret? I couldn't tell except that those eyes were as dark as a stormy sea now.

"I'm sorry." I apologized, hoping to calm him down.

My father hated to hear that name.

Kimoptra….

Land of diverse creatures with their existence being only a fairy tale to the humans we lived amongst.

He had warned me never to speak the name as the place reminded him of old wounds that left ugly scars unable to disappear.

As he took some steps forward and stood right in front of me, horizontal wrinkles came upon his forehead and his lower eyelids appeared tense and drawn up as well.

In a cold and whispered voice, he said to me. "Now listen to me boy, I would excuse your childish tantrum, but when next I give you an order, you adhere to them without asking irrelevant questions, okay?

Take those clothes into the suitcase.

We're moving and that's final."

He concluded and went out of my bedroom.

My father could sometimes be extremely intimidating.

It was the warrior alpha in him.

Sighing in defeat, I packed, overwhelmed by disappointment of not being able to convince him to let us stay.

Minutes after I had completed gathering up my things, I left the room to the kitchen for a drink.

I was just about to take a sip of the drink when the doorbell rang.

Only for my dad to mind-link me, stating,

"Don't, I'll get it."

And before I realized it, he was already at the door.

"Hello Mr. Cooper," a female tone, delicate as a newborn, accosted him.

"Nice to see you again Mrs. George," my old man responded.

"I was hoping to give this to your son as a small gift for saving my husband's life.". She said, handing him a small basket.

"Thank you, Mrs. George, but I really don't think this is necessary. You already thanked him a while ago and that was already enough." My father said to refuse her gift, and I just rolled my eyes from where I stood far from them.

Does he really have to reject it? It's not like she's trying to poison me, anyway.

"But it's just muffins, and a little of them and some thank you again would do no harm ." Mrs. George replied, in the most pleading way ever.

I almost wanted to go to the door and receive it myself but I was sure my father didn't want her or anybody else to see me after this early morning incident with her husband hanging on a pole and almost falling to his death if I hadn't used my abilities as partly being a werewolf to save him from falling.

Honestly, it was a scene to behold.

Everyone gathered, applauded, cheered, and called me a hero.

For a moment or two there, I enjoyed that few minutes of fame. But deep down, I knew it was going to cause my move to a new place once again.

"Please, just take it and thank him again on my behalf." She said, smiling at him, making my father reluctantly accept the basket, and she happily went her way.

Shutting the door closed, he threw me such a glare that could send me to an early grave, that was if looks could kill.

My father was never a fan of humans.

He saw them, not only as weak but also as a threat to our existence.

To me, his thoughts about them only made me see him as a narrow-minded werewolf.

He was just about to walk away when I spoke in an attempt to try to change his mind about us leaving again.

Would you blame me for trying? Or maybe you could call me stubborn, but I was tired of not letting people know what I am.

I was tired of being confined, hiding, and running away from an evil that might never come for me.

So I voiced out "What if I could fix this? Could we stay then?" But he scoffed at my statement, making a mockery out of it.

"Just to be sure, is it the same way you tried fixing things with Gerald back at our old house in Florida? You remember what you did to him, right?" He said, taunting, and I felt my breath hitch.

His words made me feel like a thief already caught and in custody before even starting a robbery.

"That was a mistake," I said to defend myself.

"Yeah, a bloody mistake that made you wipe him out of existence!" He said, and I flinched under his raised tone. Leaving me speechless and my hands began trembling under me.

I thought I was having a panic attack, but no, it was just a grim reminder of a memory that has haunted me since we left our home in Florida.

I never thought I would be reminded of that awful day.

Gerald was a classmate of mine in the tenth grade and he was such a bully, but he didn't deserve what I did to him.

He walked into the boy's restroom one day when I was having a hard time controlling my wolf.

I was on the verge of shifting completely when he saw me and ran away.

I just wanted to fix what happened by wiping out that memory from his mind, but things got out of hand. I couldn't control my powers and I accidentally wiped him out of existence instead.

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't bring him back.

I looked on, once again defeated by my father, and had no option but to obey him.

"This topic is no longer up for discussion, so you should get your things together because we are leaving tonight."

My name is Jason, and all this happened five years before now...
