7 Starting the Rituals (Part 02)

At the start of the ritual Luke wanted to insert all his soul power at once, letting only the amount that takes to survive. He was thinking in improve the health of his son the better he could and let his soul stable to cultivate again. If he can do it, he could redo the Dark Rite if needed.

But the things didn't happen the way he thought. At the exact moment he connected his soul with Arthur's he lost the control of his body. It was like his soul entered the body of his kid.

His body was got a hit from a shock wave, making Luke spits blood. The difference of his son's soul and his own are huge, and he can sense that the way he became connected with his son is flawed, probably side effects of the Dark Rite.

The shock wave made both his body and soul a little unstable, turning even harder to transmit his soul power. He realized that if he became careless he could lose his soul because of the Dark Rite or because some defence inside his son soul.

Elizabeth, trembling and fearful, started to cry after seeing Luke cough blood. She became afraid that they rushed and took to many risks. Forcing herself to calm down she started to study the entire situation.

Luke entered a kind of trance, his eyes lost his glow and apparently, he lost his connection with the outside world. By analysing his body and meridians she saw that he was madly consuming energy, more than he could replenish with his mortal body.

She makes her estimative and steeled her heart to wait another hour to see if he can wake up again.

They prepared for many issues buying some mortal and cultivator pills. She hopes that she never needs to use this stuff…

Luke, with fear for his and his son's life, started to transmit extremely slowly his soul power to Arthur's body. He could see at first hand how much strong Arthur's soul was when compared to his little body. So, he decided start put stable soul power in his body, instead trying to force a resonation.

He made his own estimative and, to make sure that he could give the most of his soul power without put at risk both lives, he would need at least five hours.

After holding back for two hours, Elizabeth started to become anxious. She, then, feed him with two mortal pills the "repletion pill", that could keep a mortal nourished for a week, and the "absorb pill", that helps the body to consume nutrients faster when training.

There are two problems with using medicinal pills. The first one is the price, usually medicine that help in training or cultivation are scarce because the need is too high. The second problem is the medicine overdoses, also known as medicine poison. The burden of this kind of poisoning on the body is very high, the reason why usually only top Martial Artist of the mortal realm choose to use it.

To Luke, who isn't even a Martial Artist and have a fragile body, it will be added to the side effects of the Dark Rite.

Elizabeth became even more afraid when she noted that the repletion pill added to absorb pill, that were supposed to work for a day, don't lest for two hours. She feed him one more time with both pills even knowing that these new pills will not help him at the same extent and will increase the amount of medicine poison in Luke's body.

After the effect passed she saw Luke start to paling, his hair growing white and became thinner.

We must think about the desperation Beth felt now. She was hit by a torrent of sentiments: desperation, guilt, fear, sadness, unwillingness…

She already suffered a lot in her life, but now she felt like the universe wanted her to watch quietly when her husband slowly dies to save their son.

Desperate times bring to desperate decisions and desperate decisions usually brings harm.

In a situation like that, she, without knowing what to do, started to absorb mana from the air refine it from impurities to insert it into Luke's body. This is an extremely dumb thing to do because with the normal consume of energy of a human body a normal mortal should have exploded by excess of energy on his body.

She isn't stupid, she knew that she couldn't insert mana inside his body. But she didn't have any means to give him a stable energy source that could keep up the velocity of consumption of Luke's body. She controlled his cultivation like never did before to isolate the smaller amount of purer mana and put it inside Luke.

Even this little much of mana is too much for a mortal body. His blood started to boil, burning marks appeared on his skin, smoke started to coming out his pores and the blood came out of his eyes and ears...

Elizabeth had already prepared a few buckets of cold water to try lower his body temperature. A few moments later, Luke's temperature started to cool down because the mana was being used. Strangely she saw that the consumption of the mana she gave him was almost the same pace of the consumption of his mortal energy. It lasted only one hour…

She prepared better for the consequences this time and inserted mana on him once more.

> The host don't have any control over the body. It was detected a continuous invasion of energy from the environment.

> The external source of energy doesn't have any intent to hurt the host life. The external energy is helping the host to heal.

> There are two kinds of poison mixed in the energy that came inside hosts body."
