1 Chapter 1

I awoke to endless darkness, an eerie song of boundless power all around me. I tried to look around but my eyes saw nothing, my senses clouded. It's all a dream I told myself but no matter how many times I assured myself it was, I knew deep in my heart that it wasn't. The calm voice of a woman rang in my ears, it was a sad song. I couldn't understand what she was saying but every verse made me want to weep for the sorrow that I felt with my entire being as I heard the melody. The ancient song stopped, the voice spoke to me.

"Can you comprehend my words, mortal?"

I didn't know her language but for some reason I understood that sentence, so I answered.

"Yes, but what's going on? I can't really understand where I am or what I'm doing!"

"You mortal, will become the last of us, a divine being incomparable to those lesser races. We will convert you into a Daimon in body and soul for your existence alone will hinder the usurpers."

As she said this I felt a surge of power in my body as my soul took shape into something more, something mighty. I think some time passed but my senses are dull in this place and I have no way to keep track of time. I asked a question towards the voice wherever the owner of it may be.

"What did you do to me?" I asked as I felt my body take shape into a new permanent form.

"Now your body is complete. You will descend upon our world. A world we named Primus Planan, in this world we were once the leading deities, at least until the usurpers stole this from us. We have used the last of our power and the last of our will to bring your soul and body to and transform it into our divine shape. We will give you the last of our divine essence so you may choose 3 boons for us to give besides the powerful body you now own! I will also give you the answers to 3 questions you may have. But think quickly for our power diminishes every moment we speak."

Shit she's barely let me have a word in so far. What should I ask her? Damn she probably won't give me time to think about it. I need to think about and I need to think fast or I'll probably waste my chance. She mentioned some usurpers or something killed them. According to what she said they'll probably go after me too I should ask about that first.

"You spoke about usurpers or something first. What are they, will they come after me?"

"They are beings from another plane that have slain us and taken the mantle of gods of this world by stealing it from us. You are made from the last of our will so they will destroy you if they find you, but they do not expect you for we have been destroyed. They have already ascended to the position of gods of these lands so they will fight each other and establish the foundation of their faith. You need not worry about them slaying you for we will place you far away from their holdings and the only way they will detect you is if one of their divine champions comes into close contact with you, you will also be able to identify their divine champions if you are in their close proximity."

Damn I really need to know how strong this new body really is. They remade it so it should be better. I can't see or feel anything besides my mouth moving here so I have no idea what I am. I don't know what it can do either maybe I can use magic or something to hide better from these divine champions.

"What is this new body you mentioned and what can it do?"

"You are now the last Daimon we were deities that used to rule over this world. Your new body is incomparably powerful. It has the strength to rival a kraken and the magic power of an ancient dragon. We have imparted some knowledge of the world into your mind. You will have basic information on any object or creature you see. To make it more simple for you it will be similar your 'games'. This way you'll know what you see in this new world and if there are any followers of the usurpers near you they will not escape your notice either.

So is it like a game world or will I just be able to interpret it as such? Shit I only have one question left and I don't know what I can do to not get found by these divine champion assholes or how I match up to them. It should be pretty well considering she told me I have great strength and magic. But these self-alleged gods also probably had that but still lost in the end. How can I prevent the same thing happening to me? Oh that's a good question I should ask that!

"How do I prevent falling into the same fate as you? How do I beat these usurpers?"

I hear a loud laugh from the woman but instead of just one voice it sounds like roaring laughter from a dozen muted voices. Maybe it's all the other gods like her. She does keep saying we. It's fucking creepy and scary how they all laugh but it does sound like they are laughing instead of ridiculing me for my question.

Fuck they keep laughing and I feel like pissing my pants from these creepy vibes. They finally stop laughing and she responds to me after a little while.

"Oh little mortal that question was most amusing! It was so funny it made us all roar with laughter but a valid and great question it is. To answer this we were too arrogant, too divided, and too complacent. We did not believe the usurpers had enough power to threaten us. We did not seek armies and champions to fight our battles for us, we did not have followers with faith as they did for we were here before any beings existed. They each became the patron of one race and shared their boons and blessings with them. They answered their prayers and gathered faith from their followers to enhance their powers. They allied together with each other and the races they chose to lead to attack us. To not follow our footsteps we have some advice. Gather and unite an army. Empower yourself with their faith. Don't grow complacent with your own power because even though you will be a peak existence in this world a million fierce ants will swallow an ancient dragon."

Shit so the best way to live will probably be to get my own army filled with powerful subordinates to help me fight in case I need to. So my first power should probably be a way to empower them. She already said I'll be a peak existence so I need to think of 3 things I need. Okay think a way to strengthen my army and a way to best use my power. These two are key I mean I've been in like three fights in my entire life and two of them were when I was 10 years old and I didn't want my cousin to take my favorite toy. Damn wait why am I assuming I will have an army she never said she'd give me an army. I need a way to gather soldiers. Okay so my last power should be a way to make others my loyal soldiers. Those are the three I need.

"Okay for my for my first boon I want instinctive knowledge of how to best use any and all powers I have."

"You already knew you had great power so now you wish to know how to use it against your enemies. How admirable and easy to do. This shall be your first boon. Now choose the second."

"I wish to have the ability to recruit soldiers from whatever creature I see down there."

"Now that is an interesting power you have chosen. We will let you influence and gather any of the creatures you may encounter. This is too small of a boon so we shall use the remaining power of this boon to give you an extra effect the first follower you gather will have absolute loyalty towards you and you can increase the loyalty of three more followers to the same level after you make them true believers through your will."

Yes! This is what I need loyalty from my soldiers, well even though I'll only have a few it should be more than enough. They'll probably give me some kind of boost of strength for the next wish too. Alright I'm sure I picked the right path.

"I wish for the ability to strengthen my subordinates into a more powerful form."

"Truly a complex wish. You cannot strengthen these believers from nothing. They will have to reach the peak of their existence for you to use the essence they have gathered by themselves to further progress in their path. But you shall not be alone. The first creature you contact will combine the gift of loyalty with your gift of strength. Then it will use your essence and time to be reborn into a great ally with your own energy and many years to mold it into a proper champion for yourself. This way you will not start your quest for survival alone. Now go into the world with the last of our will. GO AND CONQUER!

At the very least survive."

That was the last thing I heard before I lost consciousness again.
