9 Chapter 9 - Accidents Could Happen Every Time

Kayla had arrived at the main hospital and met with Frank in the lobby. "Thank god, you're here. Come, follow me."

Frank directed her towards the meeting room. When she came inside, she saw a lot of capable doctors and nurses there.

"Director, why is there an intern in this room? Do you realize how urgent this meeting is?" That was Sharon Moore, the one who made Kayla kicked out from the main hospital.

After she said the word 'intern' with her loud voice, the people in the meeting room turned their heads to look at Kayla.

"Director, isn't she the one who refused to treat Mr. Burke? Wow, she has a thick face for coming here." One of the nurses on Sharon's side started to whispering.

Following that, a lot of people suddenly remembered the time when Dennis Burke, the Oil Tycoon, became furious when some nurse didn't want to treat him.

"So, it was her..."

That was the thought in most of the people inside the meeting room.

Some were being amazed by her bravery, some were cursing her because of her arrogance, some others have stayed silent because they were too afraid of making any assumption.

"Sharon, this young lady here, although she is just an intern, she also has a good track record. She assisted the operation of the prime minister before and also the Minister of Security. Because of that, the president's secretary asked her to assist the operation."

By the time the director has spoken, the people inside stayed silent.

That was a really good record for an intern.

"But Director, it di—"

Before Sharon could finish her words, Kayla cut her and asked, "When you are whining about an intern or not, the clock is ticking and the president's condition is still in danger. Do you want to be responsible for his life?"

Kayla's words sounded overbearing but it was necessary for her to talk like that since the man of the country still in a dangerous situation.

Sharon quickly fell silent. She didn't like Kayla, but the thought of the president dying because of her, it scared her the most. So, she could only lay low for now.

After that, the meeting before the operation was running smoothly and the team was ready for the battle.

The president was stabbed by a knife two times. The first stab was not that deep, but the second stab was a bit too deep. A slight mistake of the team could make the president bleed and die. So, this was an important operation.

The team was not allowed to make any mistakes during the operation.

The operation took a couple of hours and after waiting for so long, Marvin Erickson, the secretary of the president, stood up when he saw the operation light shut down.

His heart was beating so fast to hear the result. He didn't even realize nor care about his own bloody appearance.

"Doctor, how is the president? Is the operation successful?" Marvin asked as he came close to the doctor.

The doctor opened up his mask and nodded. He smiled and pat Marvin's shoulder, "You should rest first. The president is alright now."

After hearing the doctor's word, he could feel his legs become jelly. He fell down and let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank god! Thank you, doctor. I'll talk to the president about you and I'll make sure for you to get rewarded."

"Your welcome. Please follow me to talk about something."

The doctor and Marvin went and left the team alone.

Kayla let out a sigh and went back to the nurse' room changing.

The night was obviously full of surprise. It never crossed Kayla's mind that she would assist the president's operation. Just thinking about her resume, she was smiling from ear to ear.

This definitely has to be celebrated!

Meanwhile, outside of the hospital, Sharon was kicking the trash can. She was upset because she didn't get to chosen as one of the nurse to assist the president. But instead, that woman easily grab it.

Sharon bit her nails as she had to think about how to eliminate her. She picked up her phone and mutter to herself, "Should I ask his help?"

Sharon decided to call him and asked for help. He would definitely help her. Not too long, her phone was connected to Dennis Burke.

"Hey, sweetheart! Are you busy?" Sharon greeted him with a coquettish tone.

The man on the phone replied to her, "Hello, honey. No, I'm not. What happened?"

"I need your help right now."

"What can I do, hon?"

"Do you remember the woman from before?"

"Hmm.. Yeah, what about that?"

"I really wish to eliminate her. Can you do it for me?"

The man on the phone smiled lecherously and answered, "I can, but what can I get for doing that?"

"Anything you want, sweetheart." Sharon coquettishly replied.

"Okay, meet me at the usual hotel tonight."

"Sure, thank you so much. I love you!"

The call ended and Sharon looked at her phone with a look of disgust. This perverted man was the same as usual. She could easily control him whenever she wants.

It was a good thing to keep a rich man to support her back because she could do anything she wants to anyone that dared to disobey her.

Sharon smirk as she said, "Good night, Kayla."

The incident about the president was not long before it became a headline in every media. The news about the incident made the whole country worried and a lot of reporters gathered in the hospital lobby.

This made Kayla in trouble. She couldn't go back to Rich Hospital because of the crowds.

The lobby was full of people. She decided to use a different route. After she finally went out of the hospital, she could finally breathe out fresh air.

"Fiuh... That was close."

She took a bus to go back and on the bus, her phone buzzed. She takes a look at the person who messaged her.

It was Aldrich Paul, her fellow nurse friend.

Aldrich: "Hey, where are you going? I visited the hospital and found another person sitting at your chair."

Kayla: "I've been called back by the main hospital to assists operation."

Aldrich: "Really? In this late-night?"

Kayla: "Accidents could happen every time even if it is in the dawn, trust me."

Aldrich: "Alright, so are you still in the hospital?"

Kayla: "No, I'm on the bus on the way back."

Aldrich: 'Good. I'll meet you there."

After a while, she arrived at the bus stop and she could see Aldrich's figure.

When the bus stopped, she went outside and smiled at the man in front of him.

"Isn't it cold to wait here?"

Aldrich shook his head and said, "No way, it is almost summer. So, what I feel was hot."

Kayla laughed at him who said that he was hot but actually wrapped his body tightly in his jacket.

They walked towards the hospital but suddenly Aldrich saw a glimpse of light behind him and went he turned his head, there was a car that moving towards them with a high speed.

The car was offside the road and he automatically pushed Kayla aside.

"Watch out!"
