6 The Victor, Decided

The tyrant abruptly released his wind domain, and spread his wings, letting the intense heat of the battlefield naturally carry him away from Pluto.

The monarch too, ceased spreading fire and magma and slowly settled into the earth. The scorching heat gradually faded from the area.

There was now a stale silence. A stark contrast to previous screeching winds and roaring heat, and splitting earth. The land was ruined, and all of the surrounding life was ash. Their wounds made them look pitiful; with the tyrant covered in scalding burns in several places, and Pluto having hundreds of cuts and gashes, bleeding everywhere. Both opponents stared at each other intensely; highly aware that their opponent was concentrating their strength for a final blow.

The tyrant's 3 pairs of wings gently shrouded his body, and the wind started to pick up once more. The wind retreated under his wings, looping around his body, akin to a wind tunnel. The wind grew in intensity, and began to make high pitched howling noises while the tyrant took a crouching stance. It was clear he wanted to directly launch himself at an explosive speed for a deadly blow.

Pluto was not idle either. He buried his body further, lowering his exposed areas, and making it easier to defend himself. The heat that receded before did not vanish, but rather concentrated itself in a visible shell around his body. It gleamed an intense ruby red, and was so hot that the earth boiled in a fiery broth of ash and magma.

Pluto marinated himself in the broth, covering himself in a sheet of the molten earth, to increase his defense even if just by a small margin. Large, red, thorns also began to protrude out of Pluto's armor, and he crossed his arms in front of his head, especially fortifying the armor in the vambraces covering his arms. He focused intensely on the tyrant.

This was all in preparation of the tyrant's final attack. He knew that if he could just survive this blow, then the tyrant would have exhausted all his energy, and be left helpless. This would seal his win. But it would not be easy, as though the tyrant was pitifully small compared to Pluto, the tyrant was like an arrow shot by an expert marksman, accurate and lethal.

The tyrant was more than aware of Pluto's actions, and that his own plans were as clear as a 18 point font on printer paper, but he did not cease his actions. He continued to gather the wind, gradually forming a black vortex of razor sharp wind around his bodies, wings unable to contain it all anymore.

The monarch watched attentively. He had no chance of dodging the tyrant's attacks, he was too fast; and he had no way of preventing his attack, he was too slow.

Then the tyrant's body tensed, then vanished with a tremendous burst of noise like thunder as dust flew in all directions, and the distance closed instantly.

The monarch immediately crossed his arms, and braced himself. When his practiced eyes saw the tyrant again, the distance between them had fallen by at least 80%. He watched the tyrant vanish again, and the air burst right after, accelerating once more, and Pluto knew that the time had come.

Then he saw the tyrant in front of him again, he had stopped. Then he noticed something strange, he was farther than before, and Pluto was facing the tyrant's back.

Then he heard it. The air had burst a third time, meaning he had accelerated again, but what shocked him was that the sound came from behind him!

Pluto abruptly coughed up a lakes worth of blood, his arms fell to his sides, and with a low growl, he collapsed.
