1 The Lake (Part 1)

"Brad, where should I set up my DJ equipment?"

"Over there," I responded."Away from the couch."

Since my parents own a lake house I decided it would be nice to spend some time over here. So tonight will be the first time that I ever threw a party. It's not just some party but a college, new years party. I checked to make sure that the punch bowl and snacks are prepared in the kitchen.

"Lucas, stop wasting time, set your DJ stand," I scolded him.

"Bro, chill, it won't take that long."

I sighed. As the sun set, I begined getting anxious, expecting no one to show. But my friends and the other people they brought with them showed up.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The music filled the house, people were dancing to it and having a great time. But the party was getting smaller, and it wasn't close to time for when it was over. I haven't seen anyone leave through the front door though.

"Brad, have you seen Amy, because I can't find her anywhere?" One of my friends asked.

"No, I haven't, but I'll go look for her."

I passed by the slowly dying crowd of people to go upstairs and search for Amy. I check every room but I can't find her, so I head outside and search around the house.

Crack!

A twig cracked in the distance, I couldn't see anything in the darkness since I didn't have my phone flashlight because I left it in the house.

"Anyone there, Amy."

More crackling of twigs sounded, and I followed the noise. It could've been an animal, but I wasn't sure.

Splash!

Something plopped into the lake. I came closer to the water and an unpleasant smell hit my nose. With the help of the moon's light I could make out quantities of fish scattered near the lake. They looked to be half eaten. I peered over the water, but there was nothing.

I turned around to make my way back to the house. I stumbled, on a branch, and fell onto the ground. When I got up, a slimy substance dripped off of my face. My clothes were soaked with it too.

Ew.

I thought to myself.

I could see a light coming closer.

"Hey, man, I was looking for you, did you find Amy?"

No, I che-," I got cut off.

"What's that?" My buddy said, pointing to the lake.

I rounded myself and saw, what appeared to be, half of a head sticking out of the water. It was black and seemed to be shiny. Then it descended back into the depths of the lake.

"Let's go," I voiced.

"That was weird."

We made it back to the party, but before going back in, something caught our attention. Something in one of the upstairs bedroom windows. The light was on and a silhouette of an all black figure could be seen.

"No one's supposed to be in any of the bed rooms."

I march to the front door, going to confront whoever's in the room.

"I'll go get whoever's upstairs, can you just continue looking for Amy?"

"Okay, yeah, I'll keep searching."

I retrieved my phone. My eyes looked around the room of people not knowing where to start searching. That's when I stared at the basement and registered that I hadn't checked there yet. I made my way to it and opened the door and made my way down the stairs. I flicked the lightswitch but to no avail it didn't work. I turned on my phone flashlight.

"Amy."

I walked further into the basement.

"Amy."

A wet substance dripped on my hand. I looked up and saw what appeared to favor an egg. It was clear and had something black in it. There were dozens of them, all attached to the ceiling. I picked up a random log on the floor and poked it.

It was squishy. Slime oozed out of the hole I jabbed into it. I backed away. The black thing fell out of it as the hole increased.

What is that?

I thought.

I poked the thing. It moved. A low growl sounded from the back of the basement. My light shined on something black. It was huge and had webbed feet.

It began climbing on the wall, then it made its way on the ceiling, coming slowly towards me. I dashed up the stairs and out of the basement door. People still partied oblivious to the horror that's in the basement. But others looked around as if they couldn't find their friends. Lucas walked over to me.

"Where's everybody?" He queried."There were at least one hundred people here before, now there's about thirty."

"I don't know man, they might've just left."

"Brad, something's not right?"

I stared off into space.

"I'll be right back," I tell Lucas.

Most of the majority of the time I've been searching for others instead of actually having fun at my party. I headed upstairs to go to the room my friend went to. When I opened the door, clothes were scattered everywhere.

"Bro," I called out.

Great, now I have to clean this mess!

I thought.

I could hear a low rustling coming from the bathroom. I twisted the door knob and opened the door slowly. Red engulfed around my shoes. A black figure was eating what looked like a person. I put my hand over my mouth in disbelief.

The thing was eating at its stomach, the poor person's intestines hung out of its body. I could hear groaning. The person was my friend. I backed away stunned. A faint growl sounded from behind me.

I turned around to see one of those inhuman things in the corner of the room. It snarled at me as it smelled the clothes on the floor. I darted out of the room and back downstairs. I unplugged the music and it was like time stopped moving. Everyone looked at me.

"The parties over," I blurted out.

I opened the door, indicating everyone needed to leave.

"I don't know where my friends are," one of the guests said.

The others nodded their heads in agreement.

"Well, I don't know where they went, but they probably left or something," I responded.

Suddenly, everything went black. From the little glow that illuminated the room I could see everyone turning their heads, looking confused and scared. But no one dared move a foot. When I peered out of the door, I could see several black figures coming closer to me. I slammed the door shut and locked it.

Everybody began to get hysterical and a few said,"What's going on?."

We're trapped at the party, or should I say we're stuck in their nest. And I assumed we were those things feast. A creaking of a door caught everyone's attention. The basement door creaked open. And again there was growling.

Little black things began coming out of the basement. They dashed at us triple the speed and attacked some of the people. They jumped on their heads and began biting them. I was lucky to make an escape. I darted up the stairs, and one of the monsters was chasing me.

It attached itself to my arm and bit down hard, but adrenaline kept me moving. I entered one of the rooms and slammed the thing on the wall numerous times. It loosened its grip and plummeted to the floor. I stomped on it's head until it was flat as a pancake. Black oozed out of its drained head, some of it splattered on me.

I slumped to the floor, out of breath. I could hear voices screaming for help. I pulled my phone from my pocket to call the police.
