| Chapter Five

I was an orphan who was adopted in the cold winter of December. My foster mom was a renowned doctor who owns a hospital while my foster father was a retired general from American military which is odd because they've chosen to stay here in China. They pampered me and showed me what family is all about.

My adolescent years was luxurious and full of happiness. Then I met Nathaniel or General Xia. My parents and his doted in our relationship and hoped that we end up together.

But I passed for military so he was forced to break things with me. He didn't took the breakup well.

I was sent to military for four years. My parents regularly updates me. But on my sixth year I was sent to another part of China, there I met Nathaniel again. It was all unexpected, but he changed a lot.

The changes broke me, but it was him who broke our relationship up. I told him that we can still be together even if we're far, yet he strongly believed that it won't work.

My head aches too much that it made me conscious. The current situation is bad, I can feel my wrists being tied together. It's way too tight and I'm no longer wearing my upper top uniform, instead just a piece of bra and a thin shirt.

When I open my eyes, I see Nathan's room. The lights are off but the sun's rays illuminated the room really well and that is enough for me to see in the dark.

From the far corner I see Nathan standing.

"It's good that you're awake by now" he said

Then realisation hit me hard!

He tricked me.

It wasn't General Lee who was in contact with the terrorists, it was General Xia!

"Why?" I asked

"Why what?" He answered

"Why are you doing this?"

Instead of answering, he walked over to the bed where I was laid on. He bent down and lowered his head.

"I needed to" he said, hidden words were relatively marked yet I didn't get the clue

Then he kissed me.
