XLVII: Cat's Curiosity

As Zayden and Angela reached the final steps of the grand staircase, Gabriel's voice echoed down the corridor with warm amusement.

"If it isn't my dearest nephew, who else would it be?" Gabriel's chuckle resonated, his eyes sparkling as they shifted to the young woman at Zayden's side. A wide smile curved his lips as he took in her presence.

"Uncle. Michelle." Zayden greeted with a courteous nod, addressing the monarchs of Kyrilia, though they were, by blood, simply his aunt and uncle.

"Zayden!" Michelle, whose striking lavender hair tumbled down in silken waves, beamed up at him. Her silver-grey eyes held a glint of elven mischief as she embraced him. "It has been far too long!"

"Indeed," he replied, his grip tightening instinctively on Angela's hand. Michelle's gaze darted to the young woman, her curiosity piqued.
