29 T-Virus Antidote

In a clandestine meeting shrouded in secrecy, Wesker sporting sunglasses, held a commanding presence.

"Let's hear the updates from each base," he said, his tone as expressionless as his visage.

"In the London base, we've got 70% of the materials gradually contaminated with biochemical viruses, and the number of scientists has dwindled," reported one of the attendees.

"The Tokyo base is holding onto 60% of its supplies, but there's a growing zombie presence on the outskirts. The situation isn't looking good," came another concerning update.

But then, there was a ray of hope. "The Antarctic base remains in good shape."

Dr. Isaac, his voice muffled and carrying an air of concern, reported from the Las Vegas base. "We still have 75% of our supplies, but the infection rate is steadily rising."

Wesker's gaze pierced through his sunglasses, and he inquired, "Dr. Isaac, how is the Alice plan progressing?"

"The situation is promising. Our experiments show that the zombies are indeed enhanced by Alice's blood, and we have a degree of control. However, the sample size is too limited. We need to continue cloning new subjects, but the results have been somewhat underwhelming," Dr. Isaac admitted.

Wesker nodded with measured determination. "Press on with the Alice project. We'll allocate the necessary resources. Doctor, we need results that will convince everyone."

Then, Isaac voiced a pressing concern. "I have a question, Wesker."

Wesker arched an eyebrow, prompting Isaac to continue, "Are there any other company bases within the Las Vegas installation?"

Wesker's brow furrowed. "What are you suggesting?"

"We've detected signs of other company personnel operating in Las Vegas. Have you authorized other individuals to work in this area?" Isaac probed, hoping to extract more information.

Wesker's reaction mirrored Isaac's shock, though his sunglasses concealed it well. Could there be a hidden group from the company operating here? There must be another base nearby providing support, but the fact that Isaac could ask meant he was unaware of their affiliations and intentions.

"That's not your concern, Doctor," Wesker retorted sternly. "While you oversee the research in your base, focus on making substantial progress. I won't hesitate to replace you if need be."

Wesker chose to ignore Isaac's questions, leaving the scientist disgruntled and riddled with unease. He couldn't fathom why the T virus hadn't been thoroughly studied, leading to such a rapid and widespread outbreak. The presence of unknown actors near his base only heightened his discomfort.

After the video conference aboard the Arcadia, Wesker paused, tapping his fingers on the table in contemplation.

"What is the company keeping from me? Or is there something else I'm unaware of?"

He promptly contacted the Red Queen, the advanced AI in control of the Hive Base in Raccoon City.

"Mr. Wesker."

"Red Queen, how many company bases are there in Las Vegas?"

A holographic 3D display materialized, revealing the base in question. Wesker recognized it as the very base where Dr. Isaac was stationed, which was not what he had expected.

"Mr. Wesker, the company has only one base in Las Vegas," the Red Queen replied, but her response only deepened the intrigue surrounding the mysterious activities in the region.

Wesker found himself taken aback by the response and gazed at the enigmatic red screen before him. "With my level of authority, check if the company has any other bases in Las Vegas."

"Inadequate permissions."

Authority could no longer be wielded. No matter how astute the Red Queen might be, there were limits she couldn't transgress.

Inadequate permissions? Did that imply the presence of another base?

Who was concealing this base? It had to be the individuals on the board. But what could be their motive?

Unbeknownst to Wesker, the Red Queen had already contacted Varion. As of now, Varion held the highest level of authority within the company, at least ostensibly. However, Isaac had contingencies in place. If Varion attempted to seize Umbrella's control, Isaac might awaken to the threat.

"Dr. Varion, Wesker is growing suspicious about the Las Vegas base's existence. There's a risk that the clone plan might be compromised. Should we proceed with the elimination of the Wesker clones?"

"It won't be necessary."

Varion remained unworried about potential complications arising from these individuals, although the Red Queen's concerns were not unfounded.

In essence, when a clone becomes aware that it is not the sole 'self,' it leads to a cascade of consequences. They may resort to eliminating other clones or the original, leaving the last one standing as the sole and authentic version.

Before him, Carlos was already in a state of shock. What he had just heard was beyond belief – Wesker was a clone? Where was the original? How many clones had Umbrella created? Who was the genuine Wesker?

Could it be that the man standing before him was also a clone?

"No, you needn't doubt it. I am the real one."

"What is your intention then?"

Varion retrieved a syringe and tossed it to Carlos.

"In all honesty, it's not about what I intend to do, but rather what you intend to do. Isaac seeks to emulate God and unleash a cataclysmic flood upon human civilization. After the deluge subsides, they will become the architects of a new world."

Carlos narrowed his eyes, deeply intrigued. "You mentioned... waiting for the flood to recede? Are you saying there's an antidote to the T-virus?"

"Indeed, the airborne T-virus antidote has been perfected."

"Then why...?"
