Andre was visibly displeased at this point: "Do you think we willingly came here? Do you realize the value of this substance? Even within the company, it's considered extremely precious."
"Then... why are you here? It seems like you want to use this for us?"
"Our leader has only one request: he hopes you'll make a bigger impact. As for whether to use it or not, that's your decision to make." With that, Andre departed without further ado.
Carlos held Alice's hand and said, "You know, I have a last resort too. Remember Anna?"
Alice nodded. "They said you and Anna were taken away together."
"That's right, but both she and I are fine. She's now in the base, and apart from having her blood sampled every week, it's actually much better than being outside."
Carlos patted the container. "This substance is certainly beneficial for you. Trust me, I've used it too, and it has no side effects. As for why that officer wants to use it for you, I don't know. The rest is up to you to figure out."
"Do you need any supplies?"
Claire didn't show a sullen expression this time. "Certainly, I never expected that one day I'd be procuring supplies from Umbrella's people. It's really ironic."
After the supply exchange and the distribution of the substance, Carlos and the others left promptly.
....
Inside Isaac's base in Las Vegas.
"Hurry, give me the T-virus serum... Quickly."
The group rushed to the laboratory where the serum was stored. Isaac seized the serum and injected it into himself one by one. His bitten arm had turned black, and he felt changes occurring in his body.
This wasn't a good sign for him.
The zombies that infected him were all enhanced types created using Alice's genetic material. He knew how powerful they were. To be honest, he wasn't sure if these serums would even work.
"How is he?"
"Sir, I've been injecting serum into him."
A visitor observed through the window as Isaac continued administering the serum.
"I've been ordered to terminate him."
The two guards stationed by the door displayed a certain gleeful expression, turned and followed the visitor, relieved that they wouldn't have to be concerned anymore.
The sealed door opened, and a few people entered.
"How much serum have you used?"
Isaac turned around and glanced at the voice. "It's alright. Everything will be fine," he said, showing indifference to the arriving individual.
"I am here to carry out Wesker's Executive Order No. 1335, authorizing your termination."
"Termination?"
The man nodded. "Yes, it's the death penalty."
Isaac raised his pistol and aimed it directly at Isaac's heart, ready to shoot him. Even Isaac might not have anticipated being shot point-blank.
"Get me a copy of the Alice report, and erase all traces of Isaac..."
"Sir?"
What the... Startled, the soldier pointed behind him, and the officer instinctively turned around. To his astonishment, Isaac stood there as if nothing had happened. Hadn't he just been shot in the heart? How could this be?
Apart from a hole in his shirt where the bullet had pierced it, there didn't seem to be any harm done.
"I used to believe that Alice was the future of humanity, but now I realize that I am the future of humanity."
His right arm transformed into fleshy tendrils, swiftly extending into the man's head, leaving him no chance to react. A guard near the door witnessed the gruesome scene and quickly pulled out his pistol to fire at Isaac. But Isaac's eyes turned ice-cold, and there was only one fate for those who opposed him.
Isaac's speed was astonishingly fast now, and he paid no mind to the bullets striking him. In the blink of an eye, he reached the two guards, and the entire laboratory was engulfed in a macabre scene of death.
Drip, drip, drip... The alarm blared.
....
Alice and the rest of her team had just arrived outside the base.
"How are we going to get inside? There are hordes of zombies out here."
Peering down from their vantage point, they observed barbed wire fencing around the small structure in the desert. However, the area outside was swarming with zombies, numbering in the hundreds. It seemed almost impossible for them to breach the perimeter.
"Look, there's a helicopter over there."
Alice clenched her hand, feeling the newfound power coursing through her.
"Let's do it. I'll head in first with the tanker, and Claire, you'll follow. Once you're inside, you can start the chopper and take off from here."
Claire gazed at her with concern. "Are you really not coming with us?"
"No, if I go with you, we'll all be targeted, and it'll be much more dangerous. It's better this way."
Claire sighed, realizing the truth of Alice's words. Bringing Isaac along would put the team, particularly the children, in grave danger. If anything went wrong, the only outcome would be death. It was a heartbreaking choice, but it was the only one that made sense.
"Do you really believe that those people gave you these things just to make things worse for you?"
Alice shook her head. "No, I've never fully trusted them. No matter what their intentions are, I'll uncover them one by one and deal with them."
With resolute eyes, it was hard to believe that this seemingly ordinary woman had been thrust into such extraordinary circumstances. Life had played a cruel trick on her.
