7 Mourn in silence, avenge with thunder.

"Your father is Arthur Kingston." It didn't register at first what she was saying, so for a minute, or maybe three, we were just staring at each other. Then it sunk in.

"Holy shit!" I exclaimed, earning a glare from my grandmother. I usually didn't swear in front of her, or at all really, but I think it was the right occasion. Then it struck. Rose Kingston and Arthur Kingston was married. Their baby girl died in a fire. Oh my heavenly soul. I sat down on the nearest chair. Rose Kingston is my mom, which means Arthur Kingston is my dad, which means...

"I'm supposed to be dead." I heard a chuckle coming from my grandmother.

"No, you are very much alive, Snow." I whipped my head up.

"So that baby, that everyone thinks is dead, isn't, because she is me and I am she." My grandmother nodded.

"How are you so calm about this!" I asked, eyeing her incredulously. My breath was raging. It felt like I ran a mile.

"Because I've known it for years. I'm used to the fact that you are the daughter of two legends." She answered simply. I gaped at her.

"I don't know what to say." I wiped my hands over my hair, trying to come to terms with what I learned today.

"You don't have to say anything, but it's getting late and I think you should sleep on this information and when you are ready, we can talk."

"Wait, what about my powers, everyone saw it. They'll be asking question won't they?" My grandmother looked thoughtful and then she answered:

"You will develop more powers, just like your father. If it's going to be the same or different, only time will tell. But we kept you hidden for a reason, so that you will train to become stronger and not be hunted by those foul beasts. So I suggest telling the story everybody knows, you are orphaned but one of your parents must had royal blood running through their veins. And when the time is right, you can reveal yourself, but not yet." I nodded. This made sense. I had to become stronger before I reveal myself to the world. My life just became a whole of lot more complicated.

"This demon guy, leader, thing or whatever, does he have a name?" Again it took my grandmother a minute to respond.

"Yes, I would think so. I think he goes by the name Rafiel, but he's known as the demon lord" I snorted. Really? Demon lord. What an idiot. Rafiel. The guy who ripped my parents away from me and who took them away from their baby. Me, who they loved very much. I will make him pay. He is also the reason why Yuana lost her parents and so many countless others too. I will make him pay for what he has done.

"Snow, you might want to control your temper, since you don't know how to control your powers yet." She gestured around where a few things was floating a few inches in the air.

"Oh, sorry." I took a deep breath to let my anger go and everything returned to normal. No more floating stuff. I stood up and said goodbye to my grandmother before walking home. The sun was already down when I began walking so tried not to take my time on the streets. It wasn't dangerous, but crime still existed and I'm not that reckless to stay and play out in the streets after dark.

Mother above. I still can't believe my parents are Arthur and Rose Kinston. I'm kind of excited really. I finally know who my parents are and I couldn't ask for better ones. To think I've actually known them my entire life but never realised it. But I still wish they were here. I wonder what life would've been then. Then a thought occured to me. Oh no. Oh no no no no no. The King and my father was best friends, so if my parents was still alive they would've probably expected us to be best friends as well or maybe more... I shook my head to get rid of that thought. Not happening. Not even if we knew each other our entire lives, that would not happen. I was so caught up in my own head I did not hear them until they were right next to me.

"Hey pretty girl." I whipped around and saw four drunk guys grinning at me. It was too dark to see what they looked like but I could make out two blonds, one dark head and one red head. I gave them my most menacing stare and three of them backed of immediately but the third one only grinned.

"Feisty one, aren't we? What are you doing out here all alone, baby girl?" It was one of the blonds, and also the same one who spoke earlier. He obviously was the leader of this group of friends. If you could call them that.

"Look. I've already had a pretty crappy day. So could you just leave me alone." I spun on my heals to walk away, but the blond one grabbed my elbow, tugging me right back up against his body. He reeked of alcohol. I took one look at him and without any warning, punched him right through his face. Blood spurted from his nose and he wrenched away from me.

"Get away from me you drunken idiot," I spat. Everyone looked shocked for a moment before the blond one roared:

"You bitch!" And lunged toward me. I parried out of the way and jabbed my elbow into his back, then the other three jumped into action. I blocked, side stepped and punched until each of them layed on the ground moaning and grunting. I flexed my sore fingers. I'm not use to hand to hand combat. We usually work with weapons. But I'm still glad I've got it.

"Idiots," I muttered. They seriously underestimated me tonight. I took one step and a sharp pain tore through my leg. I cried out and stumbled. When I looked down there was a cut on my lower leg. Not deep at least. I looked back up to see the red headed guy sitting on his knees holding a knife.

"Would you just give it a rest!" I yelled, "Do you want another beating or are you just so stupid to try and take on a Guardian." The guy paled considerately.

"Holy shit! You're that freak with the eyes!" He exclaimed. Okay, that stung. I glared at him.

"A freak, huh? Why don't you say that again and I'll show you what a freak is." I took one menacing step forward. I was now very angry. I clenched my fists together. I could feel my hands shaking from rage.

"How dare you call me a freak! At least I'm not an idiotic drunk that's got nothing better to do with his life!" His eyes widened before getting up to run away.

"No, I don't think so." My voice sounded strange to my own ears. Distantly I heard someone call my name but I couldn't hear for sure with the roar in my ears. That same energy as yesterday build up in my body and suddenly it rushed out of me throwing everything back and leaving me hollowed and weak. I felt the cold ground under me and knew I must've collapsed.

Mother nature. Who knew using these abilities could be so draining. Oh wait, the royals did, since they're the once with the powers. I felt somebody rolling me on my back, calling my name. The voice sounded familiar, but I couldn't place it. Then gradually my senses came back to me and in front me, crouching, stood the prince.

***

Noctis:

The prince looked down at the girl in front of him. She was as white as snow. He fought to keep the smirk of his face. How fitting. Since this morning he's been asking around for her and finally found out what her name is. Snow Hathaway, orphaned at a young age, but no one really knows who her parents were.

He called her her name but it seemed like she was to weak to respond, so he layed his hand on her stomach and closed his eyes. He imagined a light seperating into two, then channeling that light into her. He felt electrisity leave his finger and entering her body, giving her new energy. He called her name a couple of times before her eyes took focus. And when it did it wasn't exactly the reaction he's been hoping for. But he knew with this girl, it never is.

"Are you alright?" He helped her sit up. Her jeans and tank top was torn and she had a few scrapes on her face. He was on his way to the place he was supposed to meet his friends for a couple drinks, when he heard shouts and the sound of fighting, he had to see what was going on. When he got here, he saw three men on the ground and Snow standing in front of the fourth, looking extremely angry. There was this glow of red power surrounding her, then suddenly a strong gust of wind came blowing in, almost encircling her. Then just as suddenly she released that built up energy blowing everything out of her path. It's an absolute miracle the buildings are still standing. But that's only because she didn't focus her energy. She has no control over this power, and that makes it dangerous, not just for those around her, but especially to herself. She has no idea how to use it, and that will ultimately kill her. It's to draining.

"Yeah I'm fine." She answered curtly, before standing up, she took one step before her legs gave out. The prince caught her, but she recovered quickly. She took a step back and seemed to scan the area. He couldn't read her like the other girls. She kept her face blank at all times, never letting her emotions slip. He did notice that the only emotions she did show, is what she wanted others to see.

When she found what was searching for, she nodded once before she spun on her heal and walked away.

"Hey wait!" She whirled back, a surprised look on her face like she forgot he was there, but then again she probably did. He looped his fingers through his belt before talking.

"Do you know what I did back there?" He asked, pointing with his thumb to the spot where she layed. Her brow furrowed before relaxing into a blank face again.

"No. Am I suppose to?" She quirked one eyebrow.

"Well, I did just transfer some of my energy to you. Since you were too weak to even keep your eyes open." She looked toward the place where she collapsed and back at him again.

"Well, thank you. Your highness." She added, clearly remembering her formalities. She bowed before turning away. He couldn't help but burst out laughing. She spun on her heal and gave him a death glare that would shook even the most scariest demons out there.

"What the hell is so damn funny?" She growled.

"I'm sorry, but you obviously don't know what that means, do you?" He laughed again. Her glare turned defiantly.

"No, and I don't care." She made to stalk of again, but he stopped her. Again.

"It means transferring some of my energy to you. Since using our powers take a lot of it. Not everyone can do this. Actually, I'm the only one that can do this. Since electricity is my element." He held up his fingers, blazing with electricity, for an example. She rolled her eyes.

"Of course you are. Well, if you'll excuse me, I'm tired and sore and I had crappy day, so I would like to see my bed. Goodnight." She marched on before I could interrupt without a backward glance and without any formalities. He smirked while watching her go. This one will be fun.

He looked around for the guys who attacked Snow and saw that they were out cold on the ground. He quickly checked their pulses to make sure they were actually alive, before heading to meet his friends.

The tavern smelled stuffy and damp. It was packed with people and it's perfect, the prince thought. He quickly spotted his friends before joining them.

"I see you didn't bother waiting for me." He smirked at their drinks already half empty.

"Well you took too long. Where were you anyway?" Promto asked. He was the youngest and never took anything serious. Before Noctis could answer Ignis, their other friend, interrupted him.

"He was probably out with his new lady friend." Ignis quirked an eyebrow at him. Noctis was shocked into silence. Ignis almost never teased him. He was too serious to busy himself with 'such little inconveniences' Promto burst out laughing.

"Look, just the mention of her silences him!" Noctis shot him a glare.

"No, I was just surprised, Ignis never makes jokes." Ignis smirks at him.

"Yes, but the way you've been looking for her, makes it the right occasion to tease you. I actually thought you weren't going to show up, especially since you were late."

"Yeah, we wondered if you were going to spare us some of that precious time of yours, since we haven't seen you all day." Promto laughed. Noctis sighed.

"I wasn't searching all day. I only went to Cid to get her name, then I asked if she was there, when she wasn't I went back to the palace. I did see her right before I came here, that's why I was late."

"Oh, did you get some smoochy-smoochy in?" Ignis asked, making Promto laugh out load, which resulted in making kissing noises. Noctis rolled his eyes, but couldn't keep the smile of his face. He turned to Gladiolus, that sat next to him in the booth. He was build big with muscles and tatoos covered his arms.

"What, you aren't going to say something? Join the fray, since both of them has gone off the edge?" Noctis, sarcastically said. Gladiolus only glanced at him and said with a deep voice:

"No, I'm not drunk like these two." Noctis glanced down, and sure enough, his glass was still full. He nodded and said to the two in front of him, who was quieting down.

"Are you done? Good. No, she was being robbed and when I got there she blasted them with powers that could've gotten her killed." That got them to shut up completely. Promto blinked at him.

"Seriously? She's that girl with strange eyes, right? Yeah, she top news, dude. Everybody is talking about her. Says she's an orphan." Noctis nodded.

"Yeah, and nobody knows who her parents are."

"They must've been royal then, because only the royals have powers." Ignis said.

"Yeah, all this I already know, but the strange thing is, who could they be? I mean they must've been strong, since the power she's been throwing around isn't natural." This got Ignis' attention.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, she's got some crazy powers, but she doesn't know how to control them, and she didn't even want to believe me when I told her what happened at the summit yesterday."

"So you're saying she didn't know that she could have powers? Then that means she didn't even know who her parents were." Ignis answered.

"Damn, I mean, who doesn't tell their child their parents is royal and could have powers?" Promto asked.

"They might not have wanted to let her know who they are." Gladiolus said. Ignis nodded.

"Makes sense, but why. What did they want to hide?"

"Maybe they didn't want her to know she was adopted." Promto suggested.

"No-" Ignis shook his head, "they should've known she would have powers." The table went silent processing this.

"What if her parents wasn't royal?" Everyone looked at Promto, "It happened before. With Arthur Kingston."

"Yes... it would explain why everybody was so surprised to see her have powers." Ignis explained, "that would also explain why she could have such strong powers."

"So Snow is the next Arthur Kingston?" Then Noctis remembered what his father said.

"My father said something yesterday. He said she was a promise to an old friend, and we had to look after her." Ignis furrowed his brow.

"Why would your father say something like that? Could he have known who she was?"

"Looks like it, but who is the old friend?"

"And how? I mean do your father have telepathy to know who the next Arthur Kingston is?"

"No, something else is going on here."

"But we're not going to figure it out tonight are we?" Promto pouted.

"No, I guess not." Ignis answered but is was half-heartedly. Noctis recognised that look. Once Ignis was presented with a puzzle, he didn't give up until he could solve it.

"Hey, guys, talking about awesome girls..." Promto began talking about this girl he saw yesterday, but Noctis mind was elsewhere. He wondered what Snow was doing and if she was thinking about him too. He wondered if she could really be that powerful. He thought back to when he saw her tonight. It looked like she's been crying and she looked tired and ragged. Was she going to be okay? He thought.

***

When I got back I quickly undressed and took a long bath, I almost fell asleep and decided to get out before I actually do. I cleaned the cut that idiot gave me, and realised it was almost completely healed. Strange. I could've swore it bled, it either wasn't that bad or Noctis healed it when he did that energy transfer thing. I sighed before dragging myself to the bedroom.

"Snow? Is that you?" Yuna mumbled, before sitting upright, yawning, "I wondered when you'd get back. You were gone before I woke up," Yuna blinked, eyeing me. I got dressed and climbed into bed.

"Yeah, sorry. I woke up before dawn and didn't want to wake you," I replied. She nodded.

"Alright, I'll except that. So how'd it go?" I grimaced. This is why I didn't want to wake her up now either. This is all very amazing news, but its all so difficult to wrap my head around it.

"Snow?" My name pulled me from my thoughts and I saw Yuna's worried face enter my vision. I didn't even see her get up and come sit in front of me. She took one hand in her own.

"Everything alright? What happened?" Her concerning face was enough to break my walls down and tell her everything I learned today. She only listened and when I finished, we sat in silence. Her eyes was big with shock.

"That's... wow, I want to say amazing, and it all makes sense" She smiled excitedly. Her excitement made me smile.

"Wow! To be the kid of Arthur and Rose Kingston. That's fantastic. They're both such inspirations to us all!" She gushed. Then she saw my expression.

"What's wrong? Is there something else?"

"No. Its not that, its just... All my live I wanted to know who my parents were. Now that I know, it feels like this huge responsibility has been placed on my shoulders. They're both huge names, and when people find out I'm there daughter, they might expect huge things from me too. Not to mention this Demon lord, or whatever, will start hunting me, like he did before, and all of you, the kingdom, everyone and everything I care about could be endanger" My voice broke, and tears spilled down my cheeks.

"Hey! Look at me!" She lifted my chin so she could look at my face.

"You are Snow Hathaway. I've seen you do amazing things, even before you knew who your parents were. Your world could be turned upside down, but you'll take it in stride, like you're challenging the universe to bring it on. When we were little, you could handle being called a freak, but when some of us were being called names, you would get so angry, you would punch them in the face and ask who the hell are they to judge." I gave a little laugh, remembering, and she smiled in return.

"You remember? If we got into trouble, you alone were willing to take the risk. Your parents doesn't make you the person you are today. You are strong, because you want to be. That is who you are. I've always admired your bravery. Your ability to speak up for others. You are also a strong person. A person who also inspires others. Don't let your parents' legacy loom over you like a shadow. Spread your wings like a phoenix and fly, Snow, because I know you can," Her words spread through me like wild fire. Giving me hope and strength. I smiled weakly.

"You were always so good with pep talks," I said, making her laugh.

"But what about the danger I'll put you in, when I start revealing myself, because it will happen. It could be tomorrow. It could be a month from now. It could even be a year from now," Ice filtered through my veins at the thought of them getting hurt because of me. She laughed softly.

"Stop worrying so much. We can handle ourselves. You do what you gotta do to stop these demons and avenge your parents. Besides, when we're in trouble, I know you'll always be there to save us," She winked and laughed. I smiled feeling a little better. I hope I'll always be there. I can't imagine a world without my friends. Especially Yuna.

"Now get some rest, its already so late. Cid is not going to be impressed when we yawn the entire time she's teaching," Yuna climed into her bed and pulled the covers over her shoulders.

"Aww, damn. I thought I can have the day of tomorrow too, and plan on how I'm gonna kill the demon lord,'' I said sarcasticely, making Yuna snort. I settled into the covers when I heard Yuna's voice from across the room.

"I believe in you, Snow. You can do anything you set your mind to," Her voice faded while she faded into sleep. I smiled before clicking of the light.

That's when I started thinking about Noctis. Thankfully he was there, or who knows what would have happened, but I would never admit that to him. He's still an ass. Even though he gave me some of his energy or whatever.

The last thought running through my head before I fell asleep was, that from tomorrow I would train hard every day. I will become the best warrior just like my mother, and I will defeat these demons and bring justice to my parents. I owe that to them. And I will not have anyone save me because I can't control these powers.
