1 Chapter 1

The pain that hit my head was unbearable. Head? Holy shit! I have a head. I looked down and I saw feet. What is going on? I've been dead for years. I have been at peace for years. I haven't had a body in years. Tears welled in my eyes and I started to hyperventilate. This is crazy. My eyes darted around the room. This isn't anything that I remember. Wet lines began to form on my cheeks. What is going on! I went into the corner of the bed and cradled myself.

One by one, the memories came back to me.

"Elaine Clemintine," the god's voice said.

The gods sent me into the body of Elaine Clemintine.

"Baron's daughter."

She was the baron's daughter.

"The Gathering."

I am at the gathering where higher ranking nobles will choose lower ranks to serve them. The last memory was the worst.

Two young women stood in front of me. One was ordering the death of fourteen people while the other was soaked in blood. Their cruelty and violence was unlike anything I had ever seen. Something rotten came up my throat as I looked at the blood on the girl. Both looked at me with a vicious glint in their eyes. Horrible, disgusting monsters.

Ugly sobs came out of my mouth. This was this world's future? Why was I put in the middle of it all? I don't know how to deal with war! Nor can I deal with vicious monsters!

After an hour, I calmed down. I am still wiping the residual tears and snot off my face but I'm way better than before. This makes no sense but neither does going into someone's body. I felt a thump on the bed and turned to look towards it. A scroll appeared out of nowhere.

"Great," I thought. It makes no sense but I just need answers. I lifted the scroll up and tried to find writing but there was nothing on it. Now I was tired, confused, and irritated. Curse those damn gods. They sent me here to fix a problem that affects an entire world but don't even have the courtesy to give me any important information! It doesn't matter. If they need me they can tell me but for now, I have to focus on my needs. I laid my head down on the oddly hard pillow to sleep. Getting sent into a different world and sobbing for more than an hour had taken a toll on me.

Light shined through the one small window on the opposite wall beaming down onto my face. Guess I really am alive again. A small, sad smile made its way onto my face. My first night being alive went okay. For the first time in forever, I slept and it felt just like it used to. I stretched 'my' body' out. I can't be sad anymore thought. I have to pick myself up and just do what I can. Then from the corner of my eye, the scroll started to draw me in so I picked it up.

"Pray to us" was written on the scroll. I looked around to see if anyone had come into the room, but there were no signs of anyone coming in. Great. There is a magic scroll in my room. I stood myself up and jumped on the ground. This was something I used to do back when I was alive in my old world and it calms me down. Now I am just irritated. I went back to sitting on my bed and prayed to those bastards in whatever realm they live in.

"Nice to see that you finally got the message." the voice seemed to echo in my head, quite arrogant if I could add. "Ask your questions now, you are going to leave soon."

"What should I do?" I inquired. "This body is very small so there's no way I could protect anyone. I doubt the skills that I remember having will help save the world, so what do I do?"

"Get stronger? Get skills? I mean, is it that difficult?" Confusion was evident in his voice. My teeth grinded but offending a god didn't seem like a very good idea. I sucked in a breath to calm down.

"Okay. Where am I?"

"Adeolone. Currently you are in the kingdom of Punctum Discendi. You are in the capitol Flace Fabre. There are four other kingdoms and regions inside those kingdoms," his angelic voice informed.

"Okay. Who are you?"

"There is no time. Good luck! See you in a couple years!" he exclaimed. I heard a knock on the door before I could even begin to react. What an infuriating jerk.

"My lady, I am coming in," a sweet voice said. She was way taller than me. Probably a couple of feet taller. Am I a midget? "My lady?" the lady's sweet voice questioned

"Yes. Hi?" Why is my voice so squeaky? Why is it so high? Is this normal in this world? Why does this feel so abnormal? I looked up at this giant of a woman to see her grin.

"Please pardon me, my lady but you are adorable!" she squealed.

"What's going on?" I asked. What is this lady trying to do? I can't give her anything?

"Oh silly me! I am getting you changed for the gathering!" She then tried to grab my hand but before she could, I moved. I don't really like letting people touch me. The maid didn't say anything and just led me to a small room. The room had little to no decoration just like the one I slept in. The lady sat me down on the only chair in the room. It was comfortable enough. I reached out to the table in front of me. It had makeup and hair stuff all over it. Looking over on my right, there was a pretty lilac dress.

"Let's get started!" the maid said enthusiastically.

The next few minutes included an insane amount of grooming. My hair was getting pulled in every direction and getting stuffed into that dress was not easy. I practically pleaded for mercy as she was doing my hair.

"You look great, my lady!" the maid said. Glad to know my suffering was worth it.

"Thank you." Heat rose to my cheeks. Why must compliments affect me so much? She again tried to grab my hand and we went on our way to "The Gathering." It was one of the most beautiful places I had ever seen, completely contrasting to the drab rooms. There were flower bushes everywhere and it had food and pastries all over the tables. It was wonderful and there were so many pretty young girls. It took me a while to see that the maid had left while I was admiring the way everything looked so put together. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to look.

"Hi. I'm Victoria, daughter of Earl Crementia." she said. Victoria was a pretty young girl, probably around 14. She was also taller than me.

"Hello, I am Elaine, daughter of Baron Clemintine." We said pleasantries until she got noticeably bored and excused herself. I took another look around and saw that some girls had the same silver detailing that I had on my dress while the others looked more fancy. So the girls with silver are soon to be ladies in waiting, I assume. Anyway, who cares, I am starving. I walked over to the pastry table and it was deliciousness galore. Macaroons, golden pastries, and tarts all throughout the table almost making me salivate. My eyes once again teared up when I thought of who used to make me pastries in my other world.

As I stuffed pastries into my mouth to fill the void, different girls approached me to have meaningless conversations to see if I was a good fit for their home. Many of them seemed hesitant. While I was eating a delicious cream filled pastry, I heard gasps around me. I chose to ignore them.

"While I do know how enticing a mille-feuille can be, do you care to have a conversation?" a new girl questioned. My eyes widened. How in the world can a girl so young be so beautiful? She was probably around six or seven but the charm she exuded was beyond anything I have ever known. "Excuse me?''

"Oh, I apologize! I am Elaine, daughter of Baron Clemintine and I would not mind having a conversation," I stammered. She made me nervous and I do not know how. It wasn't that people scared me but this one seemed off. Maybe it was because she was so young?

"You are very charming." She smiled in a way that could only be described as angelic. "I am Princess Anthea Fiammetta of Deliciae Terra. It is a pleasure to meet you."

"Pleasure to meet you too, Princess."

"I have a chef that makes wonderful pastries."

"Really?" I really wanted more pastries.

"Yes I do. If you-you would like, it would be a pleasure to have you come over to try some?" Anthea stuttered. I applauded in my head. Such an adorable little girl!

"I would love to, Princess," I said politely. She gave me a warm smile with something else behind it that I couldn't quite place.

"Yes! I did it!" Anthea exclaimed. "Follow me! We will have to send a letter to your family but for now, we are going back home!" I said something to agree but at this point, I was being pulled towards a carriage.
