8 Resolution

I was awoken to the sounds of my mother cheering as she said

"I feel fine now!"

She clenched her fists as she noticed the usual weakness that she felt was no longer there. It was replaced with vitality that she had only felt in her youth.

My father who was still grumpy said

"What's wrong?"

My mother hugged my father as she said with tears in her eyes

"I-i have rec-covered"

Her joy was replaced with relief as she was trembling inside.

'I'm fine now?'

'I can see my loving kids grow up'

'I can grow old with my dearest husband'

Those were her thoughts right now as he felt her strength come back to her.

She wrapped her dearest husband in a tender embrace for a good minute before she finally let go.

My father who was dumbfounded said,

"How is this possible?"

My mother thought of what caused her to feel better and then she recalled what I made her drink last night.

"Aki-chan gave me a drink last night"

She continued as he placed her finger on her lips

"It was a herbal drink of some sort, it really had a bad taste so I was guessing it was that."

My father placed his hands on his chin as he started caressing it.

"Come to think of it, for his birthday wish; he asked for specific types of herbs."

He continued as he looked up and recalled everything

"Those herbs were of the highest quality and were rare to find"

He then concluded

"So I'm guessing, that had something to do with you being fine now"

But he raised his hand to the air and said in a questioning tone

"The question is; how was our son able to make such a drink?"

My mother then nodded as I finally rose up and said

"What's going on here?"

My father dropped the topic as my mother hugged me tightly. She doted on me as she patted my head lovingly.

"I'm fine now, my Aki-chan"

I sighed in relief hearing her words. My father butted in by saying,

"Although she seems to be fine now, we should take her for one last final check-up"

He then continued,

"After all, this may just be for a moment and it might come back at any given time."

This was completely reasonable because he just wanted to make sure my mother was completely fine. My father also sighed in relief as he dropped his shoulders saying

"I'm just glad you're fine now"

This was the first time that I had seen my father display so many emotions at the same time. My father noticed my gaze at him because I was looking at him like he was some sort of a zoo animal. He gave a forced smile as I looked away and just looked at my mother.

While we were having our moment, we heard a voice next to us because we all slept in the same bed just for today.

"What's going on" Sei-chan asked in a half-asleep voice.

He was very clingy to his mother as he also joined us in our hug. My mother glared at my father threateningly as he immediately did what she wanted. For a moment, we were in a huge group hug.

My mother was very happy up to this point as she thought

'For this, everything was worth it'

Words cannot describe just how happy she was right now. She was basically given another chance at life. She can now fulfill her promises and live happily. Not only that, she couldn't bear to leave her children alone. All she wanted was herself and her family to be happy. In the end, she got it as she wiped her tears and was grateful for everything.

I looked at the happy faces of my family, even my father was smiling this time too. I promise in this life, I'll always cherish these smiles.

.....

It was finally the time for my mother's check-up as we were in the hospital room waiting for my mother's results.

We were all seated in one couch as we waited for the doctor to arrive.

"Nii-chan, will mother be fine" Sei-chan suddenly asked me out of curiosity

I gave him a reassuring smile and patted his head as I said

"Of course she will, she is our mother after all"

My little brother smiled back at me as he of course believed in his older brother's words.

After Sei-chan asked me that question, the doctor walked in and walked towards us. He walked until he was in front of us as we finally greeted the doctor.

"Good day Dr. Enyetuenwuevue Ugbemugbem Osas"

The Doctor nodded as he said

"Good day to you all"

He cleared his throat as he said while looking at the paper that he held in his hands,

"About the results of Mrs. Akashi"

We were all waiting in suspense as we noticed his expression changed to a surprised one.

"It's a miracle!"

He then tried his best to compose himself as he said, "Ahem"

He then continued,

"I am quite happy for your family because Mrs. Akashi has fully recovered from her disease.

Upon hearing the doctor's announcement, we all jumped in glee as we all hugged each other once again. We basked in each other's embrace as we heard the good news. My mother was ecstatic because now she knew that she had fully recovered. She had one thought in her mind as she looked at me intently.

'No matter what secrets my son holds, he will forever be my son.'

Her son had given her another chance at life, her instinct told her that I had something to do with all of this. Seeing the happy family, the doctor just sat down and waited for us to end our moment.

As we finally let go of each other,

We thanked the doctor as this was the end of our meeting,

"Thank you Doctor."

When we were about to leave the doctor's office, my father said,

"You can go first, I have to give something to the doctor as a gift."

We nodded because today was truly a happy occasion for all of us.

...

Moments after we left the office.

My father walked into the room and said on the couch, the doctor was still dumbfounded as he read the papers.

He saw my father walked in as he said in a flustered tone,

"Mr.Akashi, what brings you here?"

The doctor then asked,

"Shouldn't you be with your family right now?"

The atmosphere in the room dropped drastically as my father glared at the doctor with his cold eyes.

He then said in a threatening tone

"If news break out because of my wife's recovery, I promise that you'll never see the light of day."

He stood up and walked out but before leaving, he gave one last glare and said

"I promise you that."

As a countermeasure, my father had already assigned people to look after the doctor. Not only that, he also bought the whole hospital in advanced.
