1 Beginning [Edited]

: This is my First Novel so please go easy on me :)

It was at this date that a strange phenomenon suddenly took place in the world, Earth.

A strange burst of blue energy that came from who knows where suddenly engulfed the world and all of its inhabitants.

The phenomenon became an instant issue as every country started panicking, speculating about the possible effects this burst of energy brought to them.

The fear of the unknown is a natural behavior for any normal human being, but it was only after a couple of hours had passed that humanity found out that this phenomenon was a blessing that would be the catalyst that will shape the future of the world.

An hour after the strange event people from the ages of 3 and above started to suddenly see blue individual panels in front of them that stated:

[ Congratulations! After further observations on your nature, ambition, and mindset you have received the gift "____".]

[ Nurture this gift to compete against others, survive amidst the chaos, and cement yourself in this ever-changing world.]

As expected, those who received such messages were startled by the panel. If you had common sense you'd know that this wasn't normal.

{Gift? What's that?!}

This was the consensus question everyone in the world was dying to ask. But no matter how much they asked and pondered there was no answer coming from the panel.

Their questions however were soon answered after a few more minutes. Not by a message from a panel but when supernatural happenings suddenly started occurring in their surroundings.

A man who received a gift called [Fireball] became curious about it and tried testing it out. After he received the messages, he instinctively understood how to activate this "gift", but was too nervous to try it out.

And so, with his newly gained confidence, while raising his hand upward to the sky, he thought loudly in his head

{Fireball!}

as soon as imagined those words, a warm sensation started forming near his spread-out hands. Becoming hotter by the second. After a few more seconds, from his hands, a ball of fire as large as a human head was created.

The man then thought about it once more and imagined the flame to be released.

Woooooosh!

Like a rocket the flame traveled through the air at blistering speeds, exploding after a certain distance, startling everyone in the vicinity, including the man.

After a few seconds passed and the man finally realized what he had done. With a huge grin, a sudden cry of joy and excitement suddenly came out from his mouth.

"What the f.... k! did I just do that?! Hahahahah! That was like some sort of magic I've only read about in novels, wait… doesn't this situation seem like a novel as well? then wasn't that really magic? Is my dream of becoming like those heroes I've only ever read going to come true? Mwa-mwahahahhahahah!!!!"

Just like the man, many others around the world also tried out their gifts, a girl in Africa was able to create water to quench the thirst of her village, and A guy from Romania trapped in a ditch was able to manipulate certain parts of his body to get out of his situation. And many more similar situations started happening.

Many were ecstatic as this served as new excitement to their mundane lives, and some were already trying to devise plans to best take advantage of the situation and make gains. Some thanked whatever God their religion worshipped, while some were trying to be as realistic as possible, starting research on gifts.

But of course, not all were happy about the situation. Some were depressed as they only received borderline useless gifts. An example being [hair growth] a gift that allows you to grow your hair to any length you want, not manipulate, just grow. The bald man who received this power didn't know whether or not his long-time dream of having hair achieved can be called a blessing as he basically missed out on cool and life-changing gifts.

While some were troubled with what they received, others were troubled by what they didn't:

[ Unfortunately, it seems that the quantity of your nature, ambition, and mindset was not enough to equal a specified gift, as consolation you are to receive the gift of "Physical Enhancement".]

[ Hope that you can use it to the best of your abilities]

A boost that multiplies your physical performance by 2, on the surface it was an extremely useful gift. However, those with a wider vision understood that in the long run these people would get left behind by those that can channel the supernatural, destining them to a life of mediocracy.

While all of this was happening though, in a rural town located in the middle of nowhere laid an orphanage where inside sat a young boy

Today was supposed to be the boy's 5th birthday, however, due to the sudden event that happened no one had the time to celebrate as everyone in the orphanage was in a panic to try out the gifts they received, especially the children.

The boy who had dark-as-night black hair and cold grey eyes stared at the panel before him and read the words stated.

[Error…... nature equals 10, but ambition... equals 0. The individual has no prior hopes or dreams he wants to achieve nor is he interested in power…. Mindset however is staggeringly high, mindset [Do whatever it takes to survive and $%^&$&]

[.....After further consideration, due to having little to work with when it comes to nature and ambition. "We" have decided that in response to the individual's mindset, he is to be given a modified version of the gift "Physical Enhancement" ... the now given gift being called "Physical Breaker"]

[In accordance with your naught ambitions but desperate will to survive, you are given a gift that's effectiveness is solely decided by how you nurture it.]

[Gift Description: your body has no physical limits when it comes to growth, you can train to the limits of your world's former humanity yet continue to improve without any blockage]

A gift that allows for limitless improvement, whose ceiling is determined only by your effort. To the young Jericho, this gift was the beginning of it all.

"I have no ambition, what does that even mean?"
