13 Slay the Giant Slime

--------------3rd Person-------------

Hyoran and Gris surround the slime to attack, Gris took a pouncing stance and created a ball of wind and fired it upon the slime.

*WHOOSH!*

The ball of wind flew towards the giant slime and struck it, but it made a large dent on its body. Hyoran dashed towards the slime and started swinging at the slime with her shortsword.

*Sploosh! Splash!*

She landed multiple slashes on the slime, leaving deep gashes on it that could kill any person. However, it did not turn it into a puddle. The gashes quickly close back to its original form like it never happened.

"It regenerated quickly...this is bad." Hyoran thought. The giant slime let out slimy and round tentacles where it counted to 10 in all. Three of which darted towards her.

*Slash!*

Hyoran cut the tentacles as she stepped back, but 7 more followed suit. Hyoran managed to cut down 6 but the the seventh struck her from the left, sending her flying to the tree where Kain is suffering the drawbacks of ranking up too early. She landed on the tree with her feet and then the ground safely. She looked at the sheath to see it has been slightly bent.

"If I hadn't used that, my ribs would've been broken." She thought.

The slime who lost 9 tentacles used the last one to grab the severed ones and absorb it to regenerate it quickly. Then a ball of water appeared in front of the slime, then four more appeared.

Hyoran began running before the water ball struck her. More water projectiles fly at her while she is trying to avoid them, thinking that one of them could break bone since every impact leave bigger dents than Gris's wind attacks. She is quick enough as to avoid getting hit by any of these until one them is aiming at her feet.

She jumped, but now another one is flying at her and since she is mid-air, she cannot dodge completely. Her last ditch effort is to brace for impact. The water projectile hits her, knocking her away past Kain's position and slams into the tree behind her.

She coughed up blood from the harsh impact and is drenched. She looks at her arms that it has been terribly discolored, swollen, and turned purple. Her arms are trembling and throbbing in pain. The slime creates another water projectile, but it is half the size of itself.

"Come on...move." Hyoran said to herself, trying to move her body, but it was futile. She was barely conscious, winded, and her arms are out of commission. The water projectile was launched and Hyoran couldn't move.

"Kain...please wake up." She said and then the water ball makes contact. Gris barked for Hyoran and whined, fearing that she might be gravely injured. He lowered his ears and crouched down as he might lose his second friend.

Hyoran resigned herself, yet nothing happened. She looked up to see Kain holding her.

"Kain...?" Hyoran said weakly. Kain looked down and spoke.

"Yo. Sorry I took so long." Kain said, smiling.

I sighed in relief in catching Hyoran in time. When I saw her on the ground, unable to move, I had to save her. I look at her arms that it has been badly bruised and swollen. I cast healing on the arms and the swelling became smaller, the bruised skin began to heal and regain its original color. Also her pained expression faded to a relaxed expression. She stood up and grabbed her weapons.

"Good thing I got Healing Magic." I said inwardly. I gotta make sure I have healing so that I don't wound up in a situation where my allies are unable to fight.

"You can use healing too? Well, I don't have time to be surprised anymore." Hyoran said. "Let's take out this slime."

"Alright. Gris!" I called out. Gris barked happily and ran towards me and Hyoran. He whined at Hyoran and snuggled at her leg.

"I'm okay, Gris." Hyoran said, smiling. "Your friend made me better." Hyoran petted Gris.

"Alright, Hyoran, Gris, we're taking down this slime." I said. I looked down at the puddles where the slime has used Water Magic. This gives me an idea.

"Hyoran use Ice Magic. Me and Gris will distract it." I said. Hyoran nodded and jumped back.

Gris and I ran around the slime to distract it. I launched Windball at the slime to draw its attention to me. My magic impacted the slime, taking a large chunk of its body off, but it regenerated shortly after. The slime brought out its tentacles and darted at me. However...

*Slash!* *Slash!* *Slash!* *Slash!*

I cut them down with ease with my daggers, turning them into pieces of jello you see in groceries. It's weird...when it comes to my game, if one monster is a rank higher, the one lower would struggle. If it was two or more ranks higher, it is basically suicide. That's just without a single skill. Factors come to play when it comes to environment, numbers, and skills. This is the reason, why Gris was able to hold off against goblins that are F and E while he's at G. If Gris is an adult, they'd be his snack time.

More tentacles grew and tried to swipe me from the left. Gris used Windball which intercepted the slime's attack. Gris casts Windball again to create an opening. I jumped at the opportunity to stab my dagger into that slime. However, my dagger is too short, therefore unable to hit its core. I tried to pull out, but my body began to sink in to the slime's body.

"Kain!" Hyoran yelled. I smiled, because it was part of the plan. I get swallowed by the giant slime.

[Warning. You are trapped.]

"I know. But this is fine." I cast Windball and the liquid inside the slime began to swirl. It kept swirling rapidly until the liquid is pushed aside, exposing the core that is the size of my entire hand.

"You should've spat me out, buddy." I thought to myself. I finally casted Windball at the core and sent it flying out of the slime's body. Gris saw the crystal and ran after it as it is flung airborne. The slime trembled and quickly turned into a large puddle. Hyoran was in awe that I was able to take it out in one well placed attack.

"Kain! You did it!" Hyoran said, ecstatic with our victory she ran to me and hugged me out of joy..

*Splish!*

With the splashing sound, Hyoran realized that I was covered in slime. But she didn't mind, she only cared that I was safe. I hear Gris barking in the distance, saying that he found something. I looked to see Gris holding a crystal in his mouth, the same crystal I removed.

"Oh Gris, you're okay." I said, petting Gris. Gris dropped the crystal on to my hand which is bigger than any crystals I've collected. It is the size of my entire palm.

"We gotta let our parents know. That giant slime wasn't supposed to be there." I said.

"Okay. But...we need to bathe once we get back. Slime fluids smells when it dries." Hyoran said. We turned back and began walking back to Nolten Village, but seeing that we weren't far, it only took us a few minutes on foot.

We reached Nolten and returned to our parents' house to meet them again. Ezo is in front of the house

"Kain, Hyoran, how'd the hunt go...?" Ezo said as he trailed off to see both Hyoran and I are covered in slime juice. "Wow, did you fight an army of slimes?"

"We fought a giant colorless slime." I said.

"Did you cross the bridge again?" Ezo said.

"No, we saw 10 slimes merge together and became a one giant slime." I said. I showed the crystal to Ezo.

"Hmm...yep, that's no ordinary slime. Where did you encounter it while you're behind the bridge?" Ezo said.

"Along the trail, the puddles are still there where we fought." I said, pointing at the southward gate.

"Alright, go inside and wash up, Tuya is out shopping." Ezo said.

Hours later, nightfall has arrived. Ezo and Tuya are in a large hut holding a large crystal. Inside is large wooden chairs and a large round table that is able to fit 12 people. Humans, Beastkins, and Dwarves are discussing on what should the Nolten village do. One dwarf named Olken is standing on a stool. He has long orange hair along with his thick mustache and beard. He is a warrior that has retired for 10 years and is residing here for the rest of his days.

"We have seen the large puddle of that giant slime. If it was multiple, it would show a form of suspension." Olken said.

"That is no doubt a Giant Colorless Slime. The fact that it is close to our village unnoticed means that someone or something manually made the slimes converge." one human said. "Who slew the giant slime?"

"My son and daughter." Ezo said.

"Hyoran and Kain, correct?" Olken said. "How did they do it?"

"Hyoran was luring it away where Kain deliberately let himself get caught only to blow out the crystal to defeat the slime by using his Wind magic." Ezo said. Tuya nodded.

"Sounds like your stepson was a little reckless. I saw him use Earth magic as well." Olken said. "Back to the topic, we've also seen goblins and wolves becoming more numerous beyond that bridge. It's only a matter of time until they begin attacking."

"We should notify the Adventurer Guild, the adventurers must be at least Iron." one elderly human said. People inside the hut are reluctant.

"Although the adventurers are disagreeable, but they get the work done. We may have defended this village without the help of adventurers or knights, but it'll come a time where we must think about the others." Olken said. The people slowly agreed.

"Okay, I'll send someone to deliver our request. This meeting is adjourned." Olken said.

Meanwhile, at my home, Gris and I were outside looking at the night sky, killing time. I remember that Gris needs 3000 EP to rank up to F.

"System, check Gris's stats."

With that text box, Gris's hairs spiked along with his tail. Wind began to swirl around him. Then a burst of air exploded from Gris, forcing me to blink.

I smiled seeing the screen. Gris looked up to me and wagged his tail. I picked him up and carried him to my room. Hopefully, Gris can hold more on his own while I am nearly on par with Hyoran.
