Mistress Anya

I watched in full amusement as the woman kept throwing tantrums and screaming like a young child.

Is this what happens when you are the favorite concubine of the most feared Emperor? Do all your childish and disobedient actions get spared just because you're the favorite concubine of the Emperor?

"YOU DISOBEDIENT LOW-LIFE, HOW DARE YOU TALK BACK TO ME??!!" The maid in front of her cowered in fear as Anya raised her hand to probably hit her. I quickly rushed forward into the scene and caught her arm.

Anya's black coal eyes connected with my brown one's as she snatched her arm away. She turned her attention and rage towards me now. "How dare you touch my arm? Who do you think you are?!" She screamed at my face as I kept thinking about how to silence this woman.

Does she ever shut up?

The maid that was about to be hit on, quickly got on her feet and scurried away.

"I'm the Princ-"

"She's the new concubine, Mistress. Please pardon her if she made any mistakes, she's new to our rules and regulations." Maya rushed to stand beside me and cut my words off.

As if the dices were turned, Anya now turned at me with a huge smirk on her face. I could feel her gaze as she trailed her eyes up and down my body. "So the Emperor has found a new toy to play with again, huh?" She laughed as the two women behind her joined her in the newfound joke that I obviously couldn't understand.

What was so funny?

I raised one of my eyebrows in question as Anya and two other women kept cackling a witch. I looked at Maya who now had her head bowed down and was quivering like a baby lamb, in what I presume was fear. I don't know what happened but seeing Maya so bleak, made anger rush through my veins.

"Judging by the sudden joyful atmosphere now, I'm happy that I was able to help change your mood, Concubine Anya. If you'd just excuse me now, it was nice meeting you." Giving her a forced and extremely fake smile, I grabbed Maya's hand and pulled her away from the scene only to be stopped by a deep voice.

"What's going on here?" I turned to the direction of the voice and saw him walking towards us. Sir Richmond walked behind him with a grim face, followed by more ten guards.

"Oh, Your Highness you're here!!" Anya ran towards him and coiled her hands around his waist tightly, hugging him. My cheeks became warm at the scene, as I quickly averted my eyes away from them.

How can they perform such an intimate act in everyone's presence?

"Thank god you're here! This maid has been backtalking to me, punish her for me, Your Highness!" Anya whined and pointed her index finger at Maya as tears dripped down her cheeks.

When did she start crying? Wasn't she just laughing a while ago?

Maya exchanged a panicked glance at me and immediately bowed her head in front of him. "Pardon me if I spoke too much, Your Majesty! I swear to stay in my place the next time I speak." She spoke hurriedly in a shaky voice.

What was she apologizing for? Maya didn't even do anything!

Before I could utter a single word out of my mouth, the loud booming voice of the Emperor, resonated the palace. "Guards! Take this made into imprisonment!"

Horrified gasps emitted from the passersby's as I stood there, shocked at his outrageous decision and command.

Maya cried and begged as the guards took her away. It was the last strain he broke.

I opened my mouth to say the things that I know I'll surely regret.
